I really want a show or movie to do this to try and imply the hero has a tragic backstory to explain his bad attitude and distrust of others only to reveal the wife is alive and well, our protagonist just hates his job and misses his wife
And maybe the wife is just stressed the hell out, exhausted from work and kids and they find they’re just growing apart? Or does that go too much into romance movie vibe?
