FO [FO] Self-drafted Rainy day Garfield from an album cover
Source: The image is from an album "Garfield, why do you hate Mondays?" by Jim Davis.
Fabric: Size 14 Aida
Floss: Polyester embroidery floss set with multiple colors
Program used: GIMP
The original image was repainted to use the colors I had available. The cross stitch reference was a shrunk version of the image. The back stitch reference was done by scaling the small image bigger and drawing the lines on that. Some parts have two different color threads combined.
Fun fact: This was supposed to be a circle! The image got a lot of vertical lines at the edges. I made them too tight and the fabric got warped.

PIC [PIC] Finally on the wall!
I made these forever ago and now they are finally up! The spring fairy was the last one I completed, in 2019.
Self framed (I’m sure you can tell haha) but I’m happy with them. Not sure if I’ll get around to doing the summer one.
Now to get all my wizards framed and up.
Patterns - dimensions gold Fall, Spring and Winter fairy.

FO [FO] Green Courtyard in the Shire
I told yall I was almost done (but seriously I didnt know how close I actually was) turns out I had a hoop hiding under some floss in my backlog.
Bought this from CutePatternsByMaria on Etsy 'bout five years ago, started working on it four years ago; this was the most complicated project I've worked on to date and I think I'm going to dial it back and try something smaller next time.
Partner asked whats next, I said, "i unno, prolly nudes." That said, might endeavor to do other projects for a little while, I've got some robot minifigs what need painting still.
Anyways enjoy my missed stitches, uneven textures, oh! And theres a back stitch in the wrong place im not fixing to frog over so it lives there now, this is its life now. All thats really left is to sign, wash, block, and frame, and my partners belated birthday gift after four years is finally ready to be hung on the wall! ...hope she still likes it...
Edit: misspellings cause I'm excited to share and autocorrect corrects the wrong things

FO [FO]
I made this for a friend’s daughter’s birthday. It’s a cosmo which is one of the birth flowers for October. The symmetry absolutely killed me as I’m somewhat prone to mistakes. She’s got two daughters so I guess I’ve got another one of these on my to do list! Pattern
ETA: I can’t believe I forgot a title. Oops!

SELF-PROMO [SELF-PROMO] A little garden I wish I could escape to 🌿
Another cozy little scene finished 🥰
I think I have a soft spot for these peaceful, everyday moments.
This one took me 8 stitching days! I tracked the whole process in StitchHub, the cross-stitch app I’ve been developing. It’s pretty satisfying to look back at all those little stitches.
AI disclosure: some AI coding assistance was used in development. No AI in the design process - the app's artwork and the demo pattern in it are mine. No AI-generated images or finished-object photos. This post is written by me. AI is used for nothing beyond the coding assistance mentioned above.

PIC [PIC] These can be used for cross stitch, right?
I saw these huge spools 2 for $13 and people always say spools (*cones sorry) are the way to go… I can’t find spools online with this tag but most Cross Stitch websites say Mouline is a good standard for cross-stitching. Sorry if I didn’t use the correct flair.

CHAT [CHAT] so confused by these needle sizes!
I currently have just a cheap generic multipack of 22/24 needles I ordered from Amazon but I’m about to start 2 projects, one is on 16ct and is a gift so I wanted to make sure I had the right size needles for it to look as good as I can manage. I had a search on here and google and saw that you can use 24 needles on 14ct and 26 on 16ct, Bohins and Pony Blacks were both recommended and to look for tapestry and/or cross stitch needles so I treated myself to an 18/24 set of Pony Black tapestry needles and a 26 set of Bohin cross stitch needles but the sizes are drastically different and the Bohins are smaller than the Ponys. Have I misunderstood or messed up and got the wrong ones somehow? (Ponys were from eBay & Bohins from Amazon, I’m located in the UK) Can I still use these or do I need to order different ones? If anyone has specific links to the right ones that would be amazing, thank you!

CHAT [CHAT] Adding backstitching to a pattern without it
So I am currently working on a stamped kitted pattern that I got for my birthday. The quality is good but the pattern has had issues (suspect either AI or no one checked it after putting it through a maker). The photo is definitely AI generated or something though, because it shows some embroidery stitching on it that the pattern doesn't call out.
I can manage the colors issues fine, I've been doing this since I was about 6. But it definitely needs some back stitching to call out details (the grain, the flowers, the mouth of the rabbit). This is one thing I have never created for myself.
So the question is, any tips or advice on creating my back stitching? Color tips, etc?
Last night's progress pic. I am loving most of it as it highly resembles my bunny, which was the obvious reason for me having it

FO [FO] Cinderella Mandala - Week 23
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Pattern: https://totoostitch.com/products/cinderella-mandala-cross-stitch-pdf
5 months and 10 days of stitching on this project nearly every day, but she's done! My largest and most intricate project to date. I learned so much and could hardly set this project down. Except when I had to backstitch with blending filament. 😆
Now, to contact the framers and see about getting her framed. I'm planning to reach out to Jill Rensel Framing out in Utah, but I'm in the Midwest, so if anyone has shipping/packaging tips, they'd be appreciated. The last thing I need is for this to get lost or damaged on the way.

CHAT [CHAT] Help I bled :(
I am so sad. I fucked up this gift I've been working on for weeks on the last step...
So, I was ironing the cloth used to secure the threads on the inside part of the bag (I stupidly didn't use anything in the middle to prevent this), and when I finished, I noticed that the colors of the drawing I embroidered on the back (a bike and some lettering) bled into the other side of the bag :(
These are the things I tried so far:
- Hand cleaning it with soap
- Rubbing alcohol
- Drinking alcohol
These yielded no results. I'm going to try one of those cloths used to absorb colors on the washing machine, but I'm scared it will not work... Any ideas? 🥺

WIP [WIP] Fabric too short — scrap or join?
Hi everyone, in short: I grossly underestimated how complex joining Aida fabric seems to be.
This pattern has 70 pages; what’s pictured here is a month’s work, one page and 29 rows into the second. When I started, I bought the square from hobby lobby. I told myself that when I need to join this bit with more fabric, I could probably do it with a simple running stitch along the back seam and piece it together.
After doing a little bit of looking into it today, it seems the consensus is “joining two pieces together isn’t worth it, get bigger fabric in the first place”.
What do you all think? With the pattern being so large, should I stop on this piece while I’m ahead and re-attempt on a bigger piece of fabric? Or will a running stitch through the back work well enough?

CHAT [CHAT] How much does this hobby cost you?
Hi all, I'm just wondering how much on average people spend a month on cross stitch supplies? I did a lot of cross stitch as a kid and a couple of years ago I started up again and worried I am spending too much.
The last couple of months I have spend probably £100-£200 a month and I don't seem to be able to stop. I do buy a lot secondhand and I cannot resist a bargain. I got the bargain of the century a couple of months back on facebook with enough thread to last years and years yet I still buy more. I'm also buying sewing supplies to make project bags/grime guards etc so I include that.
I have the money to buy these things and have no debt but I've always struggled spending money yet with this stuff I have no problem. Please tell me i'm not the only one as I feel that my husband might roll his eyes at me again today when another 2 parcels arrive.

SELF-PROMO [SELF-PROMO] NY Liberty
First time posting a FO! I love the WNBA and have some simple patterns on my Etsy store (SportballCrafts) https://sportballcrafts.etsy.com. No AI was used in the pattern design but was used for the Etsy mockup images. So far this is the only pattern I’ve finished but I’m working through the rest of them.
I think I have some tension issues along the top but overall I’m happy with how this turned out.
Next step is to get it framed up.
Also planning to work on more designs for the WNBA soon.

Thread: DMC and Weeks Dye Works as recommended by pattern (only the darkest grey was from WDW)

CHAT [CHAT] Looking for a sampler-style frame pattern or sampler elements to match up with a quote from Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
The quote is:
May your paths be safe, your floors unbroken, and may the House fill your eyes with beauty.
Possible themes that would work: Greek statues or architectural elements like stone window frames, arches, niches; Narnia related imagery (esp Mr. Tumnus, lamppost). Anything with birds, the ocean, water.
Thanks!
