Help Needed / Question Accidentally paid off minimum payment instead of statement balance. Not sure what to do next

Hey, thanks so much to anyone who takes the time to help me out!

For context, I’m a young adult who neither has nor spends too much money, I’m just trying to get a credit score going for myself.

I have a BoA travel rewards card and it’s my first credit card. This was my second month having the card. The first month I paid off the entire balance before the due date so no big deal.

This month, I was somehow mistaken about the payment due date. I have a recurring minimum payment set up just in case this sort of thing happens, I know myself and knew that would be a good idea. So I automatically paid the minimum. Then I noticed the statement balance. I could’ve EASILY paid the statement balance, before the due date, but again, had been mistaken about the due date. I paid the statement balance as soon as I noticed, so that transaction is now pending. I was told it might accrue a late fee. Ideally I would’ve wanted to pay the entire balance before the due date, but I messed up.

I don’t want to be accruing interest or fees of any kind, and I’m extremely stressed about this. I did change my recurring payment to paying off the statement balance instead of just the minimum so it won’t ever happen again, I’m sure this plus being wrong about the payment date are the sorts of mistakes I’ll only make once.

Have I messed up royally? Will there be consequences for this? And what would you guys recommend I do alongside what I’ve already done to make sure it doesn’t happen again?

TLDR: paid minimum payment instead of statement balance on accident (due date has already passed now), when I wanted to pay as much as possible. What should I do?

Help Needed / Question I had 820 now I'm 720 what do I do?

I have had credit since I've been able too, always paid no late payments. I have around 7 credit cards. One for almost each category, I've never canceled any of them but just keep them open as I heard it was bad to cancel.

what happened: I got charged for a membership on a card and got literally no indication I was charged. I guess I didn't check it for 2 months as I never use it anymore. Found out tried to argue that card was removed from the membership and they charged me and gave no notification. Reported it to credit card bureau can't remember the name and they said cool your fault.

What can I do to actually improve my score as I'd like to apply for a new card at some point.

Also I pay 2 days after charge typically.

cards:

Captial one venture x

Capital one savor one

American express blue cash preferred

Discover IT

BoA custom something ( the card that tanked me)

Best buy

Citi custom cash

Tldr: Card charged, didn't notice for 2-3months, tried to dispute but did not work, score tanked 820-650 and not sure how to improve score.

Discussion / Conversation Anyone getting the 4% cashback with US Bank Smartly with $100K in investments? How do you like it.

I still have my US Smartly credit card for 4% cashback with $100K in assets including investments.

Just wondering if you are having any issues getting the 4% cashback or if the investment platform is a pain with a lot of fees?

I haven’t changed to Smartly because I’ve been using Robinhood Gold with 3%. Considering moving my investments to US Bank for the 4% cashback.

Discussion / Conversation How come no one raves about the Amazon 5% card?

Lots of talk about 2%-3% yada yada, I am currently doing the RobinHood GC as most catch all, it’s easy, I just have to pay it often as my limit is only 7,500.

However, with Amazon being a huge platform used by my family and others, why does no one talk about it? Unlimited 5% back on Amazon purchases, I go there directly to look for items (expensive items).

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Whats a recommended card or bank to get with a 805 credit score, and currently only have 1 debit/credit card with a credit union.

I pay my credit card timely, and I keep my expenses low, however I only have a credit card and a debit card, all with a local credit union near me. My credit card gives me some cash back, via a rewards system however it is very low, 1 point for every dollar.

Help Needed / Question Chase Reserve: They stacked my credits wrong. How can I get an adjustment?

I booked 2 Edit hotels on the same day. One was for an IHG hotel, so it was also eligible for the extra $250 Edit Credit

These were the dollars I left over on the cards in order for me to take advantage of the credits

Hotel 1 (Edit Hotel) = $253
Hotel 2 (Edit + IHG) = $255.21

However, since the bookings happened on the same day, it automatically took the Edit Credit AND Hotel credit from Hotel 2. So they only credited 5.21 for the Hotel Credit. I booked Hotel 1 first and a few hours later I booked Hotel 2.

I wanted to take $250 off each hotel. That’s why I left $250+ on each transaction so it can be billed to my card

I called Chase a week ago to ask them to adjust. They told me I’d have an answer in 3-5 days. A whole week goes by and i didn’t have a response so I called Chase again. They just told me there was nothing they can do and didn’t even suggest a solution - and she just hung up on me. That means in order to get the full credit, I would need to cancel both bookings, and then rebook them on separate days. Worse, the rates are now over $100 at the same hotel, so I can’t cancel and rebook

Is there an easier way to do this? I read stories elsewhere that it should be easy for Chase to do this

I’m kind of frustrated, and if this is what needed to be done, I wish they told me a week ago

Help Needed / Question How hard will my credit score be hit if I close my first card?

I'm thinking of closing my first credit card. I got it in 2013 from a small credit union, then got my second in 2015 from Chase with a much larger line of credit. Those are my only cards. I have an excellent FICO score. Recently the credit union merged with another credit union and the customer service has taken a huge nose dive. My card was stolen and it took nine phonecalls, three emails, a visit in branch and a month and a half for them to take action. They turned off auto pay without telling me and I received a letter in the mail that I was in default. I panicked, called and was told that I wasn't going to face any penalty for being in default, but that I can't set up auto pay because I don't spend the exact same amount of money every month on my card and there's no option to pay off the whole balance. They've been pressuring me to close my high yield savings account for a worse option and answer questions about my IRA with "we don't know how those work, you have to find an accountant". Not to mention they somehow deposited someone else's money in my account and all of the lovely employees I've been working with for years are miserable and quitting. I'd like to close all of my accounts, including the credit card, but I can't get a straight answer from bankers about how this will actually impact my credit score. They just say "it could be bad" but not how bad. I really don't want to deal with this organization anymore, I don't trust them with my money. Is it really going to mess up my credit score that badly? I have no plans to make any major purchases that require a loan anytime soon.

Discussion / Conversation Questions for people familiar with Langley Federal Credit Union's credit cards and/or applying for two cards using just one hard pull

I was watching this youtube video "7 Reasons Why You Need to Start Banking With Langley Federal Credit Union"

It said something about this: "Double Dipping: Members can apply for two credit products (such as two credit cards or a loan and a credit card) within a 30-day window using only one hard credit pull (4:19 - 4:53)."

The video seems to be from 2024 though

1. Anyone tried this recently (when?) Ex: applying for two Langely credit cards within a 30 day window?

2. Within that 30 day window, what's a good amount of time to space the two Langley FCU credit card applications out?

3. Anything that could go wrong/downsides of this strategy?

4. Is having two cards on your profile (even if only one hard pull potentially) still not worth it?

5. Should you... combine this with any intentional credit freezing strategies?

I'm eyeing these two cards to try to get a 200+100 bonus.

Help Needed / Question Got charged for an uber ride in another country. I disputed it and Citi denied it and asked me to contact the vendor. What should I do?

Hi all, frustrated at this, but I've been charged for an uber ride outside of the country I live in and Citi mobile denied my dispute. I'm talking with uber about getting that money back right now.

I'm actually thinking of deleting my uber account and possibly closing my credit card account because of this. The charge was nominal, but I am shocked that the company wouldn't realize that I was not visitng that country and refused to work with me on resolving this.

Does anyone have any advice on this?

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) I'm about to spend $10,000 what card should I get?

My wife and I are going on a trip mid December. If I get a card now and spend the $10,000 in the next few weeks. Would I have any points quick enough to book a hotel for this trip? Also - what card would you go with if my primary need is hotel stays this December?

Discussion / Conversation Has anyone had success building points across 2 (or even 3+) CC ecosystems?

Curious on the title as I'm quite invested in three major ones, not sure if I want to go into the churning route, consolidate in one or keep all three and branch even further out. Somedays I feel like a one card setup would be nice if capital one's checking account wasn't so annoying to use I'd probably consider it.

Discussion / Conversation Amex Gold + Robinhood Gold + prime Visa, the holy trifecta

I finally feel satisfied with this credit card setup. Haters gonna hate on RH gold but this thing is great. Got 3% catch all, 4% groceries/dining w a 100k sign up bonus, 5-10% on all amazon purchases. Only thing I’m missing is the bilt angle/rent but thats still a future option. What do y’all think?

I’m also currently a resident physician and will be an attending in about a year and a half. Income will go from ~65k to. ~300k. Would you change this card setup at that time or let this ride?

Help Needed / Question What should frequent travellers actually look for in a travel Credit Card?

I am trying to understand what features really matter when choosing a Credit Card for frequent travel.

Many comparisons focus mainly on rewards, but I feel other factors can be equally important.

For frequent travellers, should we compare:

• Airport lounge access
• International lounge availability
• Annual fees
• Spending requirements
• Travel rewards
• Foreign currency charges

Does the value of a travel Credit Card depend more on how often someone travels rather than the number of benefits listed?

Would like to know what features people actually use after holding a card for some time.

Help Needed / Question potential travel card question: CSR vs C1 Venture X

Hi all, i posted a similar post before but i am still a bit of a noob so please bare with me here once again. Current card setup:

CFU (have had this for at least 3-4+ years now)

CSP (have had this for maybe over a year now, and what I consider my "travel card")

This question sparked up again as i have been travelling more nowadays. i was disappointed to not be able to go into the lounge and thus got really hungry so it got my thinking again of potentially opening the new travel card.

Most of my spending is on dining + shopping. My current setup is dining and travel is spent on CSP. Everything else is on CFU, and then transfer all points to CSP for travel value.

I plan on travelling more the upcoming year in 2027 (so far at least confirmed domestically) and therefore considering opening a more dedicated/higher value travel card, specifically looking at the C1 Venture X. If I open the C1 Venture X, should I get the Savor X? What kind of boggles my mind is having 2 ecosystems and thus having 2 points/miles system meaning you cant maximize on either the C1 or Chase ecosystem at the same time.

Now tell me, is this a dumb idea? I've been reading about the trifecta, but I think I am beyond that at this point since I went straight to the CFU and then the CSP. I could in theory go to CSR, and downgrade the CSP to CFF for the trifecta. What is suggested the next travel card I should take advantage of next? I forsee myself making larger purchases later in the year so I think I can hit most sign on bonuses that cards offer. Should I even bother with opening a travel card?

Apologies for the post, im sure it's been posted time and time again...

EDIT: Flying domestically probably at least 3-4 a year, likely at least 1 international flight. Flying out of SFO or OAK (Bay area). No preferred airlines/hotels/stays, but I do have the most points in SouthWest in terms of airlines. Would love lounge access, I understand SFO and OAK have PP lounges and no Chase or C1 lounge (i think), but im ok with that. Any more pertinent info needed? not totally sure.

Help Needed / Question Target credit card limit increase club, how to join

I opened this card when i was 18 (about 10 years ago) and got a limit of $300 i was 18 in college making like 15K so that was super reasonable.
I’m now 28, married, 2 incomes at 180K total and STILL my limit is $300.
Its infuriating, i cant even do basic fun shopping with my wife without having to do a partial payment at the register (i want to maximize my 5% off with the card).
They dont accept requests for increases, is it purely just a luck game? Are there any secret methods to get an increase?
All tips are welcome

Discussion / Conversation Credit Card - Which has the Best Value

I currently have an Citi AAdvantage Executive card. I basically used the card to ensure status on the airline. However, with the benefits of Executive Platinum getting watered down, I was thinking that I was not getting the best value out of the card. If I change, what would be the best card for travel benefits? Not really all that concerned whether the points go toward flights, cruises, hotels, etc. Just looking for a card that gives the most.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Card with 0% into APR and high credit limit.

I'm looking for a card that has 0% APR for a few months, and a relatively high credit limit.

Good cashback would be a bonus but not a requirement.

I don't need to do a balance transfer but I'll be using it for the next 3-4 months while I try to get back on track with finances after some unexpected expenses.

I've noticed that those two might be good options, but I'm not sure what kind of credit limit I might get:

- American Express Blue Cash Everyday

- Chase Freedom Unlimited

FICO: 740

Current cards

Card 1: 5,500 limit - 3 yo

Card 2: 4,500 limit - 2 yo (Discover)

Yeah, my credit history is very short but I've never missed any payments. So I hope that increases my chances of approval with a good credit limit.

Thank you in advance!

Help Needed / Question Question About Amex Denial Wait Time

Applied for a BCE card and was denied due to low fico score. Reapplied after a week since my fico score had gone up (paid down utilization to 0% and score bounced back to 735), but was hit with an auto denial for applying too soon after the first denial (have to wait 30 days). Do I now have to wait 30 days from that initial denial or 30 days from the most recent auto denial? Called to ask Amex rep but they said they didn't know.

Discussion / Conversation Ollo credit card is a terrible company. This company played games with the transaction for 6 months. FDIC complaint filed. Never use Ollo or Ally credit both are liars

Fraud charge hit account 4/5/2026 from a Walmart 80 miles away. Walmart, Ally, and Ollo credit card all no help at all. They all lose a customer for life. Ally has a lot of ties to the car industry avoid them and Ollo card in all forms.
As far as Walmart goes they were contacted about the disputed transaction as well. No help at all. It’s obviously a gift card fraud purchase; they bought Apple gift cards on the charge.
Walmart has gotten so bad since Sam passed away. I guess the Waltons aren’t rich enough and need to take money from the lowest income earners in the Country by not removing this fraud charge.
Filed a FDIC complaint against all of the above today. Don’t do business with any of these companies; I won’t any longer.

Help Needed / Question Switch to RobinHood Platinum given my stack?

Just got the offer today to switch from RobinHood Gold to their Platinum card.

Me: Early career professional in SF. I don't spend a ton, but most of my spend is on food (DoorDash, Uber Eats, coffee shops, and some restaurants), Ubers/Waymos, and Amazon. I fly maybe twice a year to Canada or other US locations.

Currently I have:

  1. Prime Visa: 5% back on Amazon
  2. X Card (debit, technically): 3% back on "everything" (except some excluded categories?)
  3. RobinHood Gold: 3% back on everything

Is it worth replacing my Gold card with Platinum? My feeling is the X Card is my fallback for the 3% everywhere, unless they nuke the rate...

I think I'd get enough value from the credits however I'm not sure if it replaces the value of losing the 3% everywhere if the X Card goes under. I guess I could always switch back to RobinHood Gold and drop Platinum?

Thanks!
