Hello, my boyfriend and I will visit corfu for the first time thus week. We will arrive on wednesday, but unfortunately the weather forecast looks bad for the end of the week. Do you have any recommendations for us? And do you know how precise the forecast is?

I booked a car through Carjet where Greenmotion car and van rental were providing me the rental. We had to walk from the airport to the office as the details of how to get there was not clear. We asked another rental company where the office was and were given the directions. This person had warned us to make sure we took photos of everything as the company was very bad. Upon arriving at the office there were issues with payment due to my card being blocked. There was an old man who drove me to the airport and back whilst I unblocked my card at the ATM. We were in the office for 2 hours trying to sort the issue out. Within those 2 hours there was 2 different people dropping their rental off and were being charged for damages that they did not do. We didn’t play any mind games to the situations as we were trying to sort out the blocked card issue. We were asked if we would like to take out excess insurance but I have that with my bank so did not need it. When the payment finally went through, we were taken to our rental car. We were taking photos but was being distracted by the old man (same man that took me to the airport and back) who was trying to hurry us and move us away from doing our own inspection. This old man was becoming more and more frustrated with us and kept saying everything was fine when we were pointing out damages. When we drove off the car was making a strange noise and felt like it was going to breakdown on us. We drove from the office to our apartment and no where else. The next day we decided to go to Greenmotion to see if we can change the car as it felt unsafe. We were made to wait for over half an hour until the young man Dimiteriz (spelt wrong) was free to test the car. Whilst waiting there was another couple having issues with their return as they to were being told about damage that was there and not recorded on the paperwork. The rental company agreed to swop the car and were doing an inspection. The young man asked us if we took out insurance with them and we said no. A couple of moments later he asked if we had a video of the car before we took it. We only had photos as the old man was rushing us so was unable to take it. A few moments later the young man informed us that there is damage to the car which is positioned underneath the back passenger seat driver side. We were looking at where he was saying but couldn’t see anything. It was only when we got on our hands and knees that there was a dent under the car. We explained to the man that we had only driven the car to the apartment and back to their office and that we were being made to rush by the old man which now makes sense why he was rushing us. The old man didn’t get on his hands and knees to check for damages so it was missed by him. The young man said he would look at the order history and see if the damage was recorded on them as the damage clearly looked old. After a few minutes he said there was nothing recorded so he was checking with the damage repair team to see if this damage was reported. He hadn’t heard back from the team but was provided a quote on how much it would cost to repair. The cost was €473.07 which turns out is the maximum they can charge. We had refused to pay and asked see the history of the car but he refused. He also refused to wait for the damage repair team to confirm that the damage had been reported. He was becoming very aggressive and told us no matter what we do or say, we had to pay. He threatened to take the full amount of our deposit if we did not pay him the repair cost. He refused to let us take the new rental until payment was made. We felt we had no option and felt forced to pay for damages we did not cause. We had then gone on to Reddit / Trustpilot and found that hundreds of people have had the same issue with this branch and that people were forced to pay as they would have missed their flight. This is unacceptable behaviour and conduct. How this company is still allowed to operate and scam tourists is disgraceful. I made a formal complaint and request for previous rental assessment on this car to be provided (individual names and details to be redacted) and proof that the car is now in the repair shop being repaired. A receipt of this as well to be provided. There was no clear email address on their website other than the reservation email which does not work. We asked the other branch for the customer service details and the one he gave us also didn’t work (luckily we tried it whilst in the office). He then had to phone the airport branch and ask them for the details. The email address was a gmail so already feels dodgy. Have given them 5 days to respond so let’s see if they do, I won’t hold my breath waiting! I have made formal complaint about both Carjet and Greenmotion to Green motion CEO , International Customer Services , European Car Rental Conciliation Service (ECRC) as well as the Greek Ministry of tourism with screenshots of previous scammed customers too.

Hi, I have realised the dates I have booked are end of season or just out at 23/30 October and was wondering if anyone has been to Corfu then and what your experience was?

I've been looking at booking a 10 night holiday next year in Greece for myself, my wife, my two daughters (4 and 6) and my parents. We've managed to whittle it down to potentially staying in Corfu, namely due to it being recommended to us and the flight times from Newcastle being more favourable compared to other parts of Greece.

Ideally, we'd like a hotel that caters from our children (pool, evening entertainment/mini disco), which doesn't seem to be an issue from what I've seen, however, what I'm struggling with is finding an area that caters for the adults as well outside of the hotel. Can anyone recommend an area to stay that has bars and restaurants plentiful. I'm not talking nightclubs and places that are open till 5am or whatever, just somewhere that has a bit of atmosphere in the evening and has nice places to eat and have a few drinks as we aren't the type of people who want to just stay in the hotel for the duration of our holiday. The areas that I've researched so far all seem to be quite quiet and only have a handful of these types of places. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hi all, wondering aside from corfu town, if there are any other villages or towns that travellers or expats frequent in the winter time on Corfu?

Hello! We (3 adults) will be staying in Central Corfu Town/old town in late Sept and want to do a “West Coast day”. We will likely hire a private taxi for the day. Rough agenda is as follows:
→ Lakones / Bella Vista for view
→ Paleokastritsa - small boat thru caves
→ Paleokastritsa - monastery for view?
→ lunch
→ Angelokastro or Theorokey Estate winery/olives or Winery Goulis Corfu or Liapades/Ravinia coastal walk
→ sunset+ dinner

Note: On another day, we will likely do Paxos/Antipaxos private charter (weather dependent) and still another free day left for mountain village day and/or olive oil tasting afternoon, etc. Not super keen to do long strenuous hikes, this is vacation! :-)

Please offer up your feedback/suggestions on the West Coast day draft itinerary, choice of activities, private taxi hires, places to eat…anything and everything welcome!

Checking the "official" prices, it should be around €3 to start + €1/km, so around €7 using the taximeter.

But reading different posts, apparently nobody will agree to use the taximeter.

I am considering bus number 15, but the official page says there is a direct bus Port → Center → Airport, while Google Maps says it is split into 2 buses. So instead of a 20-minute trip, it would be around 1 hour.

Is there any chance I can get a taxi with a taximeter and pay by card?

In a few days my (pregnant) wife and me will travel to Corfu for the first time. We will spend 4 nights in the north (around of Karousades), 4 nights in the south (around of Perivoli) and the last night in the city to be closer to the airport for our return flight the next morning.

So I wonder
Not knowing Greek language at all, how hard will it be e.g. in restaurants?

Is food and drinks/water/ice cubes generally good quality and good to eat/drink without fear of stomach ache (especially for m pregnant wife)

With this itinerary what beaches and activities would you highly recommend/toss aboard?

We are looking for a relaxed and calm time. I thought to perhaps rent a boat for a day or two (better in north or south to do that?), some good Greek food and some snorkel and walks/hikes

Hi, we are first time in Corfu and the nearest beach is kardaki beach but we are interested if there is any other good and near beaches open and also free entry, maybe better kept than kardaki. We see many beach places on maps but they ain't marked. We ain't strictly against bars but we don't want any only-sunbeds beaches or paid entry. Thanks before hand, we love it here 🫶

Me and the wife are staying at pythod palace resort and are trying to figure out transport links from the hotel and Google isn't very forthcoming

Me and my friend (ages 22 and 21), are going to Corfu Greece for 5 days in early October. We want to rent a car and are struggling to decide where to book from. We want it to be as cheap as possible but obviously want to have the proper insurance so we don’t end up paying more or somehow get I g scammed. I look into renting from uno and Sluta leta so far they both seem okay but hard to say. Is been so young is making thing a little harder as well of course. If anyone has advice on where to get from that would be helpful. We also land at 22:45 so not everywhere seems to be open that late either.

Anyone knows what happened at the airport today? We were there with my boyfriend and everyone panicked and self evacuated the airport. There was an incident at one of the gates apparently, we couldn’t find any reported news but everyone was really scared

I am collecting documented experiences from customers who have had disputes with Green Motion, particularly the Corfu Airport branch.
In my case I am formally disputing €651.85: approximately €160 recorded on the rental agreement as a “DEBIT CARD FEE”, plus €491.85 for alleged lower-front-bumper damage that I deny causing.
I have retained the rental agreement, original pre-rental photographs, POS/bank records, the DAT assessment and the document I signed expressly stating “I reserve ALL my legal rights”.
I have already filed complaints with Green Motion, ECC-Net and the relevant Greek consumer/tourism authorities.
While researching the issue, I found several other reports involving Green Motion Corfu describing disputed pre-existing or very minor damage, deposits and additional charges.
I am not claiming that every case is identical or that wrongdoing has already been legally established. I am trying to determine whether there is a documented recurring pattern.
If something similar happened to you, please reply or contact me privately. I am particularly interested in cases where you still have:
– pre-rental photos/videos
– rental agreement
– damage report/DAT assessment
– bank/POS charge
– correspondence with Green Motion
– chargeback result
If enough independently documented cases emerge, I intend to present the material collectively to consumer-protection bodies and explore whether representative legal action is appropriate.
