I saw it tucked away in a basket in the kitchen. It taunted me. So I ate all 15 candies. TRIUMPH.

Never been hired faster in my life

1.2k Upvotes

I was on Indeed looking at job postings when I saw an opening at Best Buy. I clicked the link and it took me to the Indeed page, where I read the description and all the details. Then I scheduled an online interview. I picked the date and the time, and then I waited.

The day came and I got ready. I watched a bunch of videos to prepare, but I knew generic advice wouldn't be as useful as I hoped. I wore some nice casual formal clothes, a quarter zip, and the interview began.

The interviewer asked me a few basic questions, like if I work well under pressure. It went really well and we were done within 15 minutes. At the end, he told me, "I really like you. I like your confidence and you already know where you're going." I wanted to stay humble, so I brushed it off and figured he said that to everyone. He told me to expect an email about the in person interview soon.

Two days later I got an email with the time and date options for in person interviews. I scheduled one and waited again.

The day finally came. I showed up 30 minutes early, just in case. I walked into the store, told a staff member I was there for an interview, and he said to wait because they were already in the middle of one. I said of course and waited patiently, browsing their selection.

Eventually a staff member came and told me they were ready for me. I walked in, and that staff member and the manager each asked me one question. Within 5 minutes of answering both, the manager stood up, shook my hand, and said, "You're hired."

I just stood there shocked for a few seconds. I thanked him and walked out confidently, then stood outside the store for a solid 30 seconds trying to comprehend what had just happened.

Then I got a text from the staff member who had interviewed me alongside the manager. It said, "I've never seen anyone get hired like that, congrats brother."

Edit: If you think it's ai please go get checked. You don't always have to shit on someone else. Anyways though thanks for the compliments and support I appreciate you all so much!

I'm getting the recommended amount of fiber

I got curious and decided to do the math on how much fiber I'm having today:

Coffee: 20oz = 2.6g

Breakfast: 1/4c rolled oats, 2T chia, 1T flax, milk. 2.5+10+4+0=16.5g

Lunch: 1/4c lentils, 1c vegetable soup, 2 slices of wholewheat toast, sliced cucumber with sesame seeds. 4+5+1.5+4+1=15.5g

Dinner: 1 grapefruit and... idk, maybe I'll go for tacos? So at least 2g more of fiber.

Total: 2.6+16.5+15.5+2=36.6g

That pulls me well above the RDA, which is 25g for people my age. Yay me! I'm one of the 5% of people who eats enough fiber. :) I do a lot of things that make my dead spin in their graves... but I hope my uni professor who died of colorectal cancer is proud, if not of my very average student/professional career, that he inspired at least one student to eat better.

Managed to cope with something difficult Made progress in exposure therapy!!

I’ve been struggling with housebound agoraphobia for a few years as a result of chronic dissociation from cptsd and recently I’ve made some progress!! it’s not huge for most so I don’t rlly tell my friends or family but for me it’s huge. I didn’t think I could hit this milestone a year ago and actually felt normal without panicking!! I finally have real hope I can live normally again someday soon :)

BIG accomplishment my acne is finally getting better after 8 months and i'm so freaking happy

guys i actually feel like celebrating because my skin is FINALLY getting better after 8 whole months of dealing with this 😭

my face has been breaking out so badly for months, especially those red, inflamed pimples with pus in them. and the worst part was that even when a few started going away, new ones would pop up somewhere else. it felt like i couldn't catch a break. i'd look in the mirror every morning hoping things looked better and then get annoyed all over again when i'd see more spots. honestly it was getting so tiring.

but lately i've been noticing that things are actually changing!! most of those pus-filled pimples have dried up and cleared, and a lot of the marks are finally fading too. i looked at my face today and realized that probably around 80% of the marks i've been dealing with have faded. THERE'S STILL ABOUT 20% LEFT but omg the difference is actually crazy compared to before.

i know my skin isn't completely clear yet, but i'm genuinely not even upset about that right now. for the first time in months i'm looking in the mirror and feeling HAPPY instead of immediately noticing everything wrong with my face. i didn't realize how much i'd missed that feeling until now.

8 months of this has been so frustrating and i'm just relieved to finally see some real progress. like okayyy my skin is finally giving me a break. please congratulate me like i'm five because i'm honestly so excited about this.

Made a great change in my life I published my first digital book at 22!

I was working on a manifestation book during summer as well as a fantasy fiction book. I knew that the fiction one would take a lot of time so I decided to mainly leave it as a pitch bible for now since I knew I had to research a lot to make the characters back stories the best possible. Although I have no sales yet with the manifestation one, I’m so happy I was able to bring it to life!

I but today finally started and I have done it before thats why I know it that starting itself is toughest thing in this journey.

Helped someone else out moved my neighbor's mail out of the rain and didn't think much of it until she thanked me

I have a neighbor who had a baby recently, and she always seems sooo tired whenever I see her. Which, fair enough, having a newborn sounds exhausting. I don't know her super well, we mostly just say hi when we see each other.

Anyway, a few days ago it was raining pretty badly and I noticed some packages and letters sitting outside her door. They were getting absolutely soaked, so I moved them into the little covered area near her entrance and left a quick note saying where I'd put everything. It took like a minute, I didn't even really think about it afterward.

Then I saw her a couple days later and she thanked me for moving everything. She told me she'd been having a particularly rough week and was so tired that she'd been forgetting about little things, and she'd been worried about those deliveries getting ruined. She seemed genuinely relieved and kept thanking me, which honestly made me feel a little awkward because I really didn't do anything special.

But yeah, I went home feeling weirdly happy about it. I know it was just some mail and packages, but if someone's already having a hard week, one less thing to worry about is still something, right?

Just wanted to share because it felt nice to help someone out without making a whole thing of it. Hope she's getting a little more rest this week.

I finally finished a book I’d been putting off for weeks!

I know it might sound small, but I finally finished a book I’d been trying to get through for weeks! Between family stuff and everyday responsibilities, I kept putting it down and telling myself I'd get back to it later.

I finally made time for myself and finished it, and I'm honestly proud of myself. It's nice to do something just for me and remember that I'm still my own person outside of being a mom. 🥹

Intentionally Over Tipped

I was traveling solo with a rambunctious 13m old and decided to spring for a sit down breakfast at the airport because it was easier and I’d definitely earned it.

Everyone was so nice and accommodating. The woman who brought our food set both plates out of his reach by default and our waiter was so attentive and personable.

I tipped him $100 on a $30 tab because I could afford it and he deserved it. I didn’t see his reaction but I hope I made his day.

TLDR: Tipped a waiter over 3x the actual bill because he was awesome.
