A while ago, I wanted to create an SMP and spent $15 on server hosting, I know not that much but its decent. However, I backed out at the last second because I realized that creating and configuring all the custom mods I wanted would be much more difficult than I expected.
Now, that $15 is just sitting there, and I'm wondering if I should finally put it to use.
I'm thinking about hosting a long-term Minecraft Hunger Games event lasting around four weeks, with legendary weapons and possibly a prize for the winner. I also considered charging an entry fee to help fund the prize and potentially make future events possible.
The problem is that I'm worried I'll get excited about the idea, start working on it, and end up backing out again when things get too complicated. I might try reaching out to other server owners for advice or help, but I'm still not sure if I can pull this off.
So, what do you think I should do?
Option 1: Forget about it and move on.
Option 2: Host the Hunger Games event, but keep it simple without custom features or prizes.
Option 3: Go all in, try to implement the custom features, and introduce an entry fee to fund a prize for the winner.
I'd appreciate any advice, especially from people who have hosted Minecraft events before. Is a four-week Hunger Games event a good idea, and how would you approach it without making the project too ambitious?
I'm genuinely interested in hearing your thoughts because I don't want to abandon another idea, but I also don't want to take on more than I can handle.
