Dunno if you all are active on facebook groups, but theres been developments in the "RAD SCPU Testing" group of a raspberry pi 3 married to the RAD expansion unit, providing a recreation of the SuperCPU 64. Its not perfect, but its looking really good and he's working on an FPGA version for the Commodore 64 and 128 along with another guy providing the necessary MMU unit. Cool stuff.

On the lower corner of my c128, there appears to be some sort of strange discoloration on the case. I’ve already tried wiping it down with some household chemicals but no change. I’m more curious as to what could have caused it. I do know that the key caps can stand for a cleaning though as I just got the keyboard itself functioning properly with carbon paint.

Is there a difference between joysticks for Atari vs C64?
Some say the fire button wiring is supposed to float on the C64??
Is there wiring diagrams that shows the proper wiring for a C64 joystick 🕹️?

I have Aprospand expander and Cardbus-5 expander. It got me wondering, if I have 2 of Commodore 1750, could I make both work and give me 1MB total, or would it be like running RAID-1 and both share the same data at the same time?
What about having both 1750 and GEORAM? Both +512KB for GEOS to use. GEORAM doesn't work like REU and can only be used with GEOS.

Let me start with this - I am 50y old, I come from the Apple2-clone era, I am also nostalgic of certain things. So I understand some vintage nostalgia feelings you might have. I must say I never had a Commodore machine and this is why I'm confused.
But question is this - I see on the official Commodore website that brand new C64 models are coming out. I also saw yesterday youtube video about Atari 800XL clone coming out.
What I don't understand is - what are you gonna use a brand new C64 or 800XL machine in 2026? I am sincerely puzzled. And this comes from the fact I have no idea what you can use these machines for. So games - sure. BASIC coding - sure. No idea what else.
So I want to understand what the majority of you want to do - is it only for the games? If "no" then what else?
I see (i think it was in the new 800XL case) new ports being added (i think they added USB). Okay this expands a bit what new hardware you can use. But really - what do you do on these machines now?
If someone here is still doing C64 4kb ASM demos - well I would like to see that. I would find value in this. If someone here is still making new tracker music - sure - show off your skills - I find value in this too.
But I really have zero idea what is possible and what do you do.
Because no matter how nostalgic I feel, I would grab an emulator if I want retro-functionality in 2026. Keeping more hardware around is taking care of more things. Especially retro-hardware which would require more care. Not to mention the space. Well at least I don't have the space.
So don't get me wrong - I am not saying anything bad. I just don't get it. So tell me.
Thanks

So I have a 4040 drive to fix, when I opened it up I noticed a strange thing that definitely isn't normal to me.
It appears to come from the central power led connection as well as an extra ground wire, then sends a 3 wire cable to a dual colour LED on the front, as well as having a speaker on it. I have no clue what this is.
I've never seen anything like this and quite honestly don't know what to do with it.
---- UPDATE ----
So it appears to be "just" a bicolour mod that beeps on error.
I don't know why but it wasn't beeping for several hours of testing with many errors. Suddenly, randomly it started beeping during an error and now does it consistently.
So it replaces the normal single colour led that flashes on and off with a bi colour LED that appears green for "ok" then flashes green/red with a beep for errors.
I hate it.
It's coming out? It's very annoying when trying to get the drive working and errors are CONSTANT.

Hi everyone,
I'm having a frustrating issue with C64 Visual Assembler on my MacBook Pro M5 Pro
The Problem:
When I launch the app, it appears to open—the application icon shows in the Dock, and the top menu bar changes to "C64 Visual Assembler" (with options next to the Apple logo). However, no actual window or editor UI appears on the screen.
The Strange Part:
The very first time I installed and opened the app, it worked completely fine and the window opened as expected. But ever since I closed it that first time, it has refused to display a window on any subsequent launches.
What I've already tried:
- Reinstalling the app completely.
- Running `xattr -cr` in Terminal and bypassing Gatekeeper / security permissions.
- Trying "Bring All to Front" / "Zoom" from the macOS Window menu and using shortcuts (`Cmd + N`, `Cmd + O`).
- Clearing application state (`~/Library/Saved Application State/`).
Thanks in advance for any help or insights!

Hello,
I have a C64C and have been using a WIC64 without issue for quite a while now. I noticed a couple of days ago that the first character of some received text lines are missing sporadically. It’s always the first one and doesn’t happen on every line. Recently there was a change to the telnet and I am not sure if that is related or not.
I wanted to check to see if anyone else using a WIC64 was seeing the same issue and if so if they were able to resolve it somehow? I am running the latest stable firmware on the device with wic launcher 2.5.
Thank you

From what I can find out the C128 stopped at revision 7/7A. I've got a C128, when I turned the board over, under the cartridge port I seem to have a revision 9 board. Not sure if a Rev9 board was a released revision.

Major updates to C16 Crunch over more play testing. I revamped the levels and improved the monster logic. This game feels truly like the sequel to VIC-20 Crunch. This is a cops and robber game, where you evade or blast monsters as you try to get all the coins.

I hope I'm not the only one that was into the Micro Adventure book series. I liked them because not only did they have an "interactive" adventure story, (they were told in the 2nd person), but at the end they had a cool program that you could input into your Commodore 64/128 computer! I LOVED these books-although I found it frustrating when I mistyped a character and the whole program wouldn't work! Anyone remember these?

Does anyone remember this game? I used to play it as a kid, but no one seems to have heard of it. You are an astronaut (the character is a middle-aged Black man) and you encounter man-sized insects that give you math questions. Kind of like the Cellenites (spelling?) from the Jules Verne novel (but they didn't ask math questions)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Do you remember our first physical and minimalist release? It was Tower of Rubble on a 5.25" floppy disk 💾
We were very proud and excited back then. 😊 A few years have passed since then, and today our physical releases for the C64 and Amiga look completely different and much more professional.
If you haven't seen them yet, be sure to check them out! 💾🕹️

Found this old commodore printer in eWaste. It's not typical to find something like this anymore, however, there seems to be someone around here who is regularly unloading 8 bit stuff. I recovered a practically unused Apple IIgs system last month!
As you can see, it's pretty dirty and dusty and probably hasn't been plugged in for decades. What are the chances of getting it working again? If so, are printer ink cartridges even available? The serial ports in the back seem to be commodore standard DIN cables. Can I use a standard MIDI cable or do I need to find a commodore specific one? Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It's not very noticeable on this screen, but when some games it's very noticeable. It's a fuzzy bar that rolls upwards slowly looping around.
Is this common on +4 computers? Is it noise from the environment?
