*** Johannes ***

Johannes was a contested emperor / usurper who seized control of the West after Theodosius II neglected or refused to nominate a successor following the death of Honorius in 423. After Johannes allowed himself to be declared emperor, Theodosius elevated Valentinian III, deposing and executing Johannes after a brief struggle. Johannes' coins are tricky because his only AE coinage shares reverse types with Honorius, Valentinian III, and several other emperors of the period. Generally only a few letters of the title DN IOHANN - ES PF AVG are visible on any given coin. Johannes had a beard, but this is often worn flat, poorly struck, or simply never engraved in the first place.

Top row - These coins have enough visible legend to be 100% attributable to Johannes

1. Excellent portrait with full DN IOHANN visible. $85

2. Worn, good portrait with -ES PF AVG visible. $70

3. More worn & slightly porous, but still an attractive example with a clear -ES PF AVG visible. $60

Bottom row - These coins are a good portrait match to the above, but do not have enough legend visible for a firm attribution.

1. $10

2. $10

*** Arab-Byzantine coins ***

Struck by the later Rashidun and/or early Umayyad caliphs, imitating Byzantine coins of the period, mostly Heraclius & Sons, or Constans II.

43 - 48. $10 each

*** Standing Caliph coins ***

Struck by the Umayyad caliph 'abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, 693-697 only, as an intermediate step between shunning the Christian iconography of the Arab-Byzantine coins and when the Umayyads decided that depicting the human form *at all* was forbidden by their religion. Immensely common, immensely important coins.

49 - 59. $15 each

*** Umayyad fals ***

Various Umayyad or early Abbasid fals

60 - 64. $8 each

*** Later figural bronzes ***

Later Islamic caliphates were less strict about the prohibition of iconography and on rare occasions decided to place humans or animals on their coins. Coins mostly from Seljuk dynasty etc.

65 - 74 $10 each

PAYMENT

I accept Zelle (preferred), Wire, Venmo (friends and family) and CashApp. PayPal possible for people with high flair.

SHIPPING

Let's make this simple -- I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR DELIVERY -- until the item is scanned delivered, it is my responsibility, not yours -- PLEASE SEE NOTE ABOUT INSURANCE. I will ship within 2 business days and provide tracking to you upon shipment. GA shipping at cost (usually $7-$9). Otherwise, $11 priority shipping for SMFB or $20 for MFRB. I may choose to use UPS Ground/2 Day Air if it is cheaper.

INSURANCE

All packages over $1,000 need to ship UPS Ground or USPS Priority w/ signature. If you refuse signature delivery, I am no longer responsible for the package until scanned as delivered.

DISCLAIMER

Any grades I put next to raw coins are my best guess and please use your own discretion as I am not a professional grader.

Everything I sell is real and is verified on my Sigma Metalytics Investor. I'll gladly send you additional pictures with your username/date of specific items being tested before you send payment.

I prefer Zelle but I accept Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, bank wire transfer, BTC USDC Ethereum Solana and other crypto!

I've never lost a package in 20+ years- partially because I'm VERY particular in how I pack to ensure discreet and safe arrival to the buyer. I'm VERY particular in how I pack. EVERY order is double boxed/ and double labeled for redundancy.
I ship same day or the following morning 7 days a week! My default is USPS ground advantage for $8, or USPS Priority flat rate for $15. I'm happy to use USPS, UPS, FedEx- whoever you prefer! Please specify if you want something other than USPS, or if you want additional services like signature on delivery.

I am open to offers, package deals, using a middleman, sending first to the right person and the right deal.
Please remember to comment on this post prior to sending me a chat request.
For reference- I use a 95 CRI light at ~4500k when taking my proof pictures.
Thank you!

"The fine print" inspired by the META and suggested by mods:
TLDR: https://www.reddit.com/r/Pmsforsale/s/tEb5h0zzOg

2FA is turned ON!
ALWAYS verify that you're talking to the person you think you're talking to before starting a conversation!

I will be quite thorough and clear during our entire transaction- from your initial message to after the delivery of your package. I take this hobby seriously and I show that by doing all the little things which includes;
I immediately turn on persistent messaging
I offer same day shipping 7 days a week
I message a screenshot of your shipping label for verification that I didn't make a typo
I send a custom URL for your specific tracking number
Once I receive your payment I will reply "SOLD" to your original comment.
Once you confirm you've received your package safely I will comment "TRADE COMPLETED!" to summon the bot and leave you feedback.

If you want signature on delivery or insurance you MUST ask for and pay for it. As mentioned above, I will go above and beyond to get your package safely to you, but my liability ends once I hand your package off to an employee of the shipping company. This should be discussed and confirmed during our interaction.

I have a career that relies heavily on customer satisfaction and I will always provide that level ofexcellence to you. I'm grateful for each and every person that gives me an opportunity to earn their business and I will always show my gratitude!
Thank for reading the fine print!

Hello!

I have some graded Roman and Byzantine Empire Coins I’m looking to sell.
These ancient coins have been Certified Authentic, Graded and Encapsulated by NGC.

Can meet in person for a transaction in Manhattan or Northern New Jersey.

Proof

• Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. Æ Sestertius, NGC Certified (046) – $110

\*Slab Disclaimer & Note:** Please note that the coin is slightly loose inside the NGC holder and will shift or rattle gently if moved or tilted. This is very common with ancient coins in slabs due to the irregular edges and thickness of ancient struck flans. The slab itself is completely intact with no cracks, and the coin remains perfectly secure, protected, and fully guaranteed by NGC.* See video

Pricing:

Bank of China

1 yuan - $2 each

10 yuan - $2 each

50 yuan 2006 - $2 each

Or get one of each ( 3 total 1, 10, 50) for $4

Why no serial numbers? - These are from the Bank of China and not general public money; they were used to help people from villages/ poor areas/ not used to counting a lot of money count, bundle, check currency, and get used to general bank work without using regular currency. Fun fact they made these with US and Canada currency too without serial numbers and with chinese writing on the corners for the same reason

1948 1 Pound Britain Armed Forces Use - $2 each

Why British army? - These were issued for soldiers at £1 value but for use in army bases and areas. They weren't allowed for regular people to use or have at the time because they weren't the same as regular British currency

South Sudan 100 Pounds with Lion - $2 each

Syria

100 - $0.5 each

500 - $1 each

1000 - $1 each

Terms and conditions at the bottom of the post...let's get to the good stuff!

Negotiating: Reasonable negotiating/bundling is an expected part of the hobby. However, ridiculous offers will be ignored.

Pricing transparency: I will always leave my selling price in my listings because I believe it contributes to pricing transparency and helps to keep the market fair. Yes, I believe in free economy, capitalism and all that...but...at the end of the day we *all* like knowing what something cost. Consider doing the same and help your fellow Redditor understand the market by having access to historical sell prices.

Warranties/guaranties: No warranty/guarantee is given or implied. All items are sold AS-IS. All sales are final. If you have questions about an item, please ask prior to your purchase.

Payment Options:

• eCheck, bank wire, Zelle, Venmo FF (no notes, emoji only), PayPal FF (no notes)

• Unless specified above, no insurance is provided or implied beyond the base insurance included with the carrier. No destination contract is implied or provided unless specifically agreed upon by buyer and seller. Per Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), buyer accepts all responsibility for insurance/loss.
