I'd love to play you a little something from an opera that I've been writing. It's-- It's based on the Old Testament. It combines the brooding intensity of Mahler with the pesky insouciance of Poulenc, and it goes something like this.

Why Did They Switch Actors To Play Gary?

In some episode, Joel Polis plays Gary. But in others, Robert Desiderio does. Why is this? Why didn't they just stick with Joel Polis since he played Gary first?

John Mahoney played Sy Flembeck on Cheers before playing Martin on Frasier. What other actors appeared on both shows as completely different characters?

Kelsey Grammer's "Bad Lines"?

The writers apparently gave Kelsey bad lines on purpose to see if he could make them work and he always did. What were those "bad lines" exactly?

Discussion Cheers characters in 2026

Where do you think the Cheers characters are now? What's Sam up to? Where's Cliff?

You can even guess for Norm and Rebecca - let's assume the characters are alive even though the actors aren't.

Cheers tap confirmed/W pints?

I always thought it was left ambiguous what was on tap at Cheers, maybe to avoid promoting any particular beer, but, in s4 e18 (the Peterson Principle), Norm asks Cliff "what's my breath smell like" and Cliff responds "Milwaukee."

They don't have Milwaukee in Ireland, can any Americans confirm whether this is a W pint to have on tap? If it's good enough for Norm...

Would you have reported your dad if you were Cliff in this episode?

Post image

Some people may not remember so what happened was that Cliffs dad came up to make amends for abandoning him but turned out he was on the run from the law for real estate fraud. Cliff was gonna turn him in but couldn't bring himself too.

Idk, it's pretty shitty that it takes so much for the father to take a interest but i'be tempted by his offer to leave the country and never have to work again. Let's face it, it's not like anyone at cheers was gonna miss Cliff anyway.

Bar trivia A fake chain on both coasts

"Burger Burger Burger" is a fictional fast-food chain referenced in the television sitcom Frasier (and earlier in Cheers).

Key Details from Frasier

• Episode: "Miss Right Now" (Season 11, Episode 19, aired April 6, 2004).

• Context: Frasier mentions a craving for a "bacon cheeseburger- burger-burger", reflecting an uncharacteristically enthusiastic (and amusingly desperate) desire for fast food.

• Connection to Cheers: In Cheers, Carla's son Anthony works as a shift manager at Burger Burger Burger.

Albania running gag on IASIP

Watching the most recent episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia last night, I kept laughing each time they would complain about the little leaguers being Albanian. My wife eventually asked me what was so funny, so I started singing Coach's mnemonic song. "Albania. Albania. You border on the Adriatic." 🎶 She didn't remember the reference until I explained the plot of the Cheers episode "Teacher's Pet." We ended up agreeing that the jokes were an homage to Cheers because the episode was about baseball and Danny DeVito being married to Rhea Perlman. Anybody else catch it?

Cheers Episode Idea…

I've had this in mind for years now. A 2-part episode where the gang flies to Japan. Maybe it could be set during season 8. Robin plans to take Rebecca to Japan, but he also wants to take the others along, too. Sam's been to Japan before. He's played baseball over there a couple times back when he played for the Red Sox and says it's a popular sport in Japan. So they all fly to Tokyo. So the gang all walks and/or rides round Tokyo enjoying Japan. Rebecca tries and fails to locate Evan Drake hoping to see him again. But she never does.

There's a scene where they go to a local bar in Japan. When they come in, the patrons all yell "NORM!" That surprises everybody. Norm looks embarrassed. Cliff asks how they know Norm there. He explains he came there once. Frasier asks when. Norm says years ago. They go to the bar and order some beers. The bartender also knows Norm. He serves them drinks, but then brings up something shocking: Norm's bar tab. They're all surprised to learn Norm has a bar tab there, too. Sam asks how much Norm owes and the bartender says about a million Yen. Everyone is stunned. Sam then asks Norm if there are other countries around the world where he has unpaid bar tabs. Norm sheepishly confirms that he does. Not just in Japan, but China, India, the UK, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Australia, a couple of countries in Africa and also in Brazil, Argentina, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Mexico and of course bars across the US and Canada. They're all surprised to learn all this. They've known Norm for so many years and they never knew any of this about him. Frasier realizes Norm will never be able to pay off this massive debt he's collected worldwide over the years. He suggests Norm file for bankruptcy. But Norm says it's such a long tedious process, having to fill out endless paperwork and even go to bankruptcy court.
