I recently bought an old home that I got a great deal on mostly because the kitchen is somewhat non functional due to both layout (old house, small space, large windows to work around), and some odd design choices on the part of whoever last worked on it. I’m on a budget but am looking into redesigning and getting estimates for renovation. I’d like recommendations for local contractors/designers who are known to have a creative, ‘work with what you have’ approach. Somebody who can look at a space and see things the rest of us can’t :) Thanks for any recs!

Anyone know what’s going on at the cville airport today? Every single departing flight is delayed and every single arriving flight has been diverted. No flights have left or landed today and we’ve been provided no explanation. Anyone know what’s happening?

I’m a local educator exploring the possibility of creating a hybrid homeschool program in the Charlottesville/Albemarle area.
I’m particularly interested in families who would like to homeschool but may need additional academic support, structure, or opportunities for their children to learn alongside peers.
The purpose of the survey is simply to gauge community interest, understand what families are looking for, and determine whether a program like this would be feasible in our area.
The survey is anonymous, doesn’t collect names or email addresses, and participation is completely voluntary. I’m still in the early research stages, so I’m keeping my personal information private for now.

Dominion Energy is requesting permission to significantly expand a transmission line between Charlottesville and Gordonsville. The State Corporation Commission will hold a public hearing on the topic from 6:00 to 10 pm on Thursday, Oct. 22nd at City Hall in downtown Charlottesville. Attend and make your voice heard if you have an opinion on this!

Hi neighbors. My pet tortoise busted out of his outdoor enclosure yesterday (10/14) and has gone missing. Last seen at the intersection of 5th St and Bailey Rd.

He's big, about 18 inches long and 40 lbs, clearly not a native box turtle! I'm worried if I don't find him before it gets cold, he won't survive, as his species is native to sub-saharan Africa and doesn't typically brumate like our native turtles do.
