I just took down a 1988 Casablanca Fan. It’s heavy and solid. It even has the old fan control switch still. I’d feel bad trashing it because it still works just fine. Any recommendations on the best place to contact ceiling fan people in my area? I’d put it on facebook for free but I know there is a passionate community around these types of fans and I’d love to give it to someone in this community. I’m located in Western Massachusetts.

I have a 2013 Hampton Bay fan. Lost remote, and the fan is currently in the OFF mode. I think I can remove the remote controller, and then I can turn the fan on and off by the pull chain.
I have done a lot of house electrical work myself, but just an amateur. I want to make sure I understand the wiring if I remove the controller. Can somebody assist on how I have to rewire it?

If anyone else out there has an old Panasonic WhisperFit EZ Dual Speed Ventilation Fan w/ Light that uses the CFL bulbs that have been discontinued, you can replace those with LEDs.
You just need GU24 LED bulbs that are less than 2" wide and 4-3/4" long. There are tons of options at cheaper prices that the one off-brand CFL you can find that advertises itself as a replacement for that particular set of models. You don't need to take my word for it either, just measure the dimensions of the CFL bulbs you are replacing to confirm the dimensions.
I spent an afternoon researching this to figure it out, bought some random brand 4k 1500lm LED bulbs that are smaller than the CFL dimensions, just installed them, and they work brilliantly. Hopefully, this can save a couple of homeowners a bit of time in the future.

Cover plate is not flush to the ceiling. How do I fix this

I have one of those flat roof set ups. Landlord isn't opposed to allowing installation of ceiling fans but there are limited structural tie in options. u/TechnologyConnections brought me here after seeing the video on ceiling fans but it looks like the 'best' ceiling fans are quite heavy. Is anyone aware of lighter weight but equal quality (if that even exists) that isn't something off Temu? I'd appreciate any guidance here. I did do a search of this sub and didn't find anything that immediately looked like it answered my questions. Thanks all for any help/advice!

Hey everyone, hope this is the right forum for this. I’m not an electrician, just a pretty capable DIYer. I purchased a Craftmade Smart Sonnet ceiling fan w/ remote control and wifi capability. No issues with installation, only had to use one of the two switched hot wires (red and black) in the box at the ceiling. Wired the remote receiver per the diagram, all connections are sturdy including ground.
Attempted the learn sequence to pair the remote to the fan. The light blinks twice (which is normal per the manual) then flickers a couple times (not normal). It is also supposed to cycle through the 6 different fan speeds in forward and reverse as part of the learn cycle which it does not. Instead, the fan motor itself jogs back and forth a couple of times and then stops, never completing a full revolution in either direction. The light will function with the switch or the remote, but the fan is inop.
I tried a new remote receiver from the store where the fans were purchased with same symptoms. Tried another fan motor altogether, same symptoms. Both of the receivers and the first fan were bench tested back at the store and worked perfectly, so I considered an electrical issue in the home and started troubleshooting.
I’ve got 120v to both hots at the ceiling box per multimeter, so power doesn’t seem to be an issue. I tried multiple switch and wiring configs at the wall…wired the fan motor using the hots for different switches, wired them to grounded and ungrounded switches, wired the fan hot taking the switches out of the equation which would allow the fan to be controlled only by the remote, rechecked all connections at the fan motor and receiver. Every config netted the same symptoms when I attempted the learn cycle for the fan. Never had a breaker pop with any wiring configuration. Light will work, fan will not.
I’m stumped. Craftmade tech support says the fan does not have to be connected to wifi to complete the learn cycle. They have a technician that I haven’t been able to speak with yet that might have some information. Neutral does get wired to the receiver and I don’t know if I’m missing something there. Just trying to find out if anyone has any additional advice or experience with these particular fans that will help me get back on track. Sorry for the long read. If this is the wrong sub to post something like this please point me to the right one. Thanks!

The light output is horrible and just trying to figure out if I can find a light bulb that is supported so that I can see at night when the light is turned on.
This has to be at least 20 years old ?

We were able to remove the complete light, which was only secured with one screw.
But we are not able to find out how to open the glass sphere to change the light bulb.
Manufacturer seems to be Hampton bay

I recently had two Panasonic bathroom fans installed in my house. I was surprised how quiet they were but my problem is, I'm not sure they were installed correctly. I took a piece of toliet paper and held it up to the exhaust vent. The piece of paper barely will suction to the vent ( directly in the center ). The outside four corners actually blew the paper downward. Were these installed incorrectly or is this normal?

It only moves an inch after being turned on. Not sure what the problem is or how to fix it.

My ceiling fan make this super loud humming/whirring sound every time it makes a rotation and it’s drives me insane. It is so loud and will even make me nausea if I have it on while I try to sleep. Any idea what causes this and if it can be fixed?
For context I live in an apartment so I can’t change the fan. This complex was built in 2024 and I’m the first to ever live in this unit, so I assume the fan is brand new. The fan operates by a sliding switch and this is the “low setting” the sounds just amplifies if it turn it to medium or high. Also, when I switch fan off the noise stops immediately, even while the fan is still spinning & slowing down.

I already checked the body/motor(?) for a brand, and I couldn't find one. Any leads would be appreciated!

Is this receiver aftermarket? Do I need it if I have the wall control? I recently got this fan used and haven't installed it yet.

For some reason every AC fan I've bought eventually starts humming obnoxiously, and the humming starts/stops immediately when I flip the fall switch on/off. DC fans with just chains instead of remotes however are incredibly hard to find. Would hope not to spend much over $100. Would appreciate any recommendations because search engines seem to lump DC+AC together even when specifying DC.

Hi,
Planning to buy multiple Atomberg Enzel Fans & want the review of users.
How is the speed? Will we get sufficient air when we are below it or spreads across the room?
Also the noise? Planning to use 2 in living area & 2 in bedroom.
Could you also suggest which color is good for white ceiling & background, cant go for wooden color variant one as it is costly.

Hi all, I’ve been seeing a lot of pictures and videos of this model of ceiling fan and have fallen in love with it. I’d love to get one of my own. Anybody know any sites or sellers who sell vintage ceiling fans?

The first black 5 blade Alpha vannum 56 Iriz fan has ABS blades instead of metal blades. Second image is Orient ceiling falcon ceiling fan! These two fans have BLDC motor. Concerning point is its wind intensity. Does it deliver strong wind like metal blade ceiling fans. ABS blades ceiling fans have low noise. But I have no idea about its wind.
