Are write-in candidates really that much of a threat to Weekly's chances?

Bipartisan Support for Yes on 200, 5 by district on 201, NO on 1A

Post image

Kim Monson is the fiscally conservative President of the Colorado Union of Taxpayers and host of The Kim Monson Show. Links below are to her Colorado Voter Guide. She Endorses YES on 200 to expand the Douglas County Board of Commissioners to 5 members, 5 by District on 201 so every seat answers to a different part of the county, and NO on 1A to ensure no seat is left to a countywide vote, where the interests of less populated areas of the county would be drowned out by more populated ones.

Kim Monson's analysis - YES on 200: https://kimmonson.com/colorado-voter-guide/2026/douglas-county-200/

"Douglas County has outgrown a three-member board. The Census Bureau's estimates put the county at 399,396 residents in July 2025, up from a base of 357,993 in April 2020, and the county's staff now measures it against Adams, Arapahoe and El Paso, three Front Range counties that already have five commissioners. More people call for more representation, and two added seats give Douglas County residents that.

Today every commissioner is elected by every voter in the county, so the areas with the most voters have the largest say in all three seats. I support five commissioners elected by district, each by the voters of that district alone, which is the first method on Question 201. I oppose Question 1A, because countywide election of all five would give the county's largest population centers the largest say over every seat, and places like Larkspur and Franktown could go without a commissioner their own residents chose. A five-member board with each seat answering to a different district is also more difficult for any small group to control.

I recommend a yes vote on Douglas County Ballot Question 200."

Kim Monson's analysis - 5 by District on 201: https://kimmonson.com/colorado-voter-guide/2026/douglas-county-201/

"I support the first method on Question 201, which gives each of five districts a commissioner who lives there and is elected only by its voters. When a seat is filled by the whole county, the areas with the most voters decide it, and an area with fewer people can end up represented by someone its residents did not choose. The second method would fill two of the five seats that way. With five district seats, each commissioner answers to the voters of one district, and no seat is left to a countywide vote."

I recommend a vote for five district commissioners on Douglas County Ballot Question 201."

Kim Monson's analysis - NO on 1A: https://kimmonson.com/colorado-voter-guide/2026/douglas-county-1a/

"Question 1A would have every registered voter in Douglas County elect all five commissioners of an expanded board. I oppose it. It would carry the countywide vote used for today's three commissioners onto all five seats, so the most populous parts of the county would cast most of the votes in every race and the less populated areas would carry less weight in each one. I support five commissioners, each chosen by one district's voters alone, as Question 201's first method provides, and Question 1A sets up a countywide method to compete with it.

I recommend a no vote on Douglas County Ballot Question 1A."

Of the three I see Stu Butler being endorsed/pushed the most. What do you all know about him? Hear he is a downtown biz owner- which biz? Is he Maga? Cannot find his affiliation.

Daughters 11th Birthday

Hi everyone 💕 My name is Aspen, and I’m reaching out to see if anyone might have any gently used items, toys, or art supplies they no longer need that could help make my oldest daughter’s 11th birthday special this November. 🙏🏻💗

My husband is currently out of state for work until December, so I’m home managing everything with our five kids on my own. Between keeping up with the house, school drop-offs and pickups, making sure everyone is fed, and trying to keep up with everyday life, things have been a little overwhelming lately.

My youngest just celebrated his 3rd birthday last week, and with Halloween, Thanksgiving, my daughter’s birthday, and another birthday coming up shortly after, it’s a busy and financially stressful time for our family.

I want to be clear that I am not asking for money or donations of cash. I’m simply hoping someone might have some gently used art supplies, craft kits, toys, or birthday items their family has outgrown that could help me put together something special for my daughter.

She’s turning 11, and I would absolutely love to make her feel celebrated and loved on her special day, even if I have to get creative and work with what we can find. ❤️

If anyone has anything they’d be willing to part with, I would be incredibly grateful. Even the smallest things could help make her birthday a little more magical. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season. 💕🙏🏻

I am trying to organize a little get-together at Rhyolite Park, where we would meet on FRIDAY the 23rd at 5:30 pm, and then ride to 4400 Castleton Court Castle Rock, Colorado 80109. You can either vote in person or drop off a ballot! You can even register to vote! I am trying to get someone to donate food to us, perhaps Donut House. If anyone can help in that area, that'd be lovely. I also made a little graphic, possibly, I can make stickers or hats or something I don't know. This is in early stages. But if you're interested let me know! No matter which way you vote, anyone is welcome to join!

My email is ellianna.adams@gmail.com

And you can message me on here too!

The website for you to double check my info if you don't believe me: https://www.douglasco.gov/elections/voter-service-and-polling-centers/#phase-two-vspc

Okay bye!

“Your request for a ballot” texts are Elon Musk scams

Hey neighbors… are you getting MORE texts than usual for midterms, even for Texas?? Me too! ABC News ran a report for Scams that target CO Voters and redirect us to fake sites with misleading election info sent by a PAC backed by Elon Musk.

The arrlcle is a good warning about these random election texts. DON’T CLICK THE LINKS (most know this but some might feel safe if it’s for a candidate they support).

HRT dose dispenser

For those of you on testosterone cream, what device do you get it in and how do you dispense it? I'm asking because the pharmacy thinks it's appropriate to use a standard syringe that requires you to not squeeze the plunger too far and estimate between markings to get the appropriate dose. I don't understand. A dispenser that is bit more accurate and less likely to (or impossible to) squeeze out too much costs extra. I was just wondering what you all do and if you've had any issues. Thanks!

Marx vs Weisner debate

Is the full interview (technically) recorded and available somewhere? Have only seen a snippet online. Not that Marx is even a consideration. But would like to see the entire thing. If anyone has not seen the podcast episode where Candiace Owens interviews Corby Hall (4/24/26). Its called - the man who weaponized faith. Victor Marx is a dangerous person!! Scares me that he lives as close as he does. How anyone can back this man is insane to me. 🤯🤯🤯

Dip powder nails in Castle Rock

Hello! I'm looking for recommendations for a salon in Castle Rock that does dip powder well. Some techs somehow have amazing application that the product never cracks, and others apply it such that it can crack with just a bump. If anyone knows a nail tech and salon in Castle Rock with amazing, long lasting application of dip powder, please share. Thanks!

Walmart Plus Delivery

Does anyone know if the folks who deliver groceries for Walmart are the ones doing the shopping too? Getting a little tired of my orders being wrong or half missing🤦‍♀️. I always tip and never remove the tip even when the order is wrong or most items missing. I figured its not their fault as they did not package the order. Does anyone know? Love the connivence of this but its hit or miss now on accuracy.

Mountain/scenic spots near castle rock?

I really like going up to Breckenridge, Vail, Aspen, etc. just to be up in the mountains for hiking and grabbing a bite to eat but I’m trying to find similar things directly west of us. Is there anywhere near Castle Rock that has good hiking/breweries a bit higher up?

Move to Castle Rock?

Hi everyone! I’m a Denver native who moved back to Denver after living in the slower side of the PNW and I’m finally sick of being in the city especially now that I have a 15 month old daughter who I’d like to have a different upbringing. My question is how diverse/welcoming to black and interracial families is castle rock? Truly? I’ve only ever gone to the outlets or passed through CR but I’m wondering about how it is outside of “touristy” areas. Thanks in advance!
