I spent good time looking at instructions and videos of a trigger swap for SP-01. I also spent a lot of time getting anxiety over tools and work bench etc after seeing all the photos of bent punches and reading stories of people ”whacking” to drive the dreaded trigger pin out.
Bought a 15€ punch set today, after which kept thinking if they were of suitable quality. Not having a work bench or any sort of garage option at home, decided to use a roll of tape and top of a drawer as my gunsmithing den.
Took the 2mm starter punch, trusty old Stanley hammer and carefully positioned the punch on the pin with gun laying on it’s side on the roll of packing tape.
Took a breath and decided to give it a gentle tap to begin with… and the pin was halfway out. Switched to longer 1.5mm punch and gave another tap. Now I had the pin hanging from the opposite side hole. I used the new free float pin to finish it off.
I installed the new +10% Eemann Tech trigger return spring by pushing it in place with a large punch while holding my pinky finger as a cover in case the punch slips and trigger spring ejects at mach fuck towards my eye.
Now the trigger is straight and nice. Reset is really strong, it actually snaps on your finger.
So, my pin was not staked or did I just get lucky? Honestly spent two months trying to figure out when I would have time to visit my friends workshop to get this done. It took less than 10 minutes in total at home and I’ve never done something like this before.
