Question Scoring 82-90 in CL mocks but only ~50 in Crackyou. How do I balance them?

Post image
23 Upvotes

Aiming for 97-98 percentile in CAT. In Career Launcher Flexi mocks I’m scoring 82-90, but in Crackyou mocks I’m consistently stuck around 50. My sectionals go well, but I struggle to convert that into full mocks, especially in Quant, where I tend to skip too much. Is Crackyou really that much tougher than the actual CAT, and which one should I trust to judge where I stand? Also, how would you split mocks between the two in the last 6 weeks? Any advice from people who’ve been through this would help. Thanks!

General Discussion XLRI (2023-25) AMA! Feel free to ask!

Hey all,

Engineer from BITS Pilani, worked ~2 years (trading, then product at Acko), did HRM at XLRI, and I'm now at ITC.

CAT is close and I see a lot of panic here, so ask me anything:
Last-month CAT/XAT strategy
XLRI and XAT Decision Making
GD-PI from an interviewer's point of view
Engineer → MBA, work-ex, and life after

I'll be around tonight and will reply to everyone. 🙂

My scores - CAT - 99.71, XAT - 99.63, SNAP - 99.99, IIFT - 99.87

General Discussion I got tired of dull 200-page formula PDFs, so I built an interactive 3D/2D "War Room" flashcard board for all 511 CAT quant formulas & traps. Would you use this?

Hey everyone,

Like most of you preparing for CAT, I had the usual 150–200 page formula sheets and PDFs downloaded from various coaching portals (IMS, CL, TIME).

The problem? Nobody actually remembers formulas by passively scrolling a PDF. Whenever I took a sectional or full mock, I’d freeze on standard applications or fall straight into the classic CAT trap options because the formulas weren’t ingrained through active recall.

Over the past few weeks, I decided to turn the entire CAT QA/DILR syllabus into what I call the CAT War Room — a tactical, visual command center built for high retention.

Here is what it currently includes:

1. 511 Core Formulas, Shortcuts & Common Traps

  • Organized into 9 dedicated zones (Number System, Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Modern Math, Speed Math, LRDI, VARC, and Exam Strategy).
  • Every single card includes: the core formula/theorem, a speed-solving tip, a worked example (EG.), and a highlighted ⚠ TRAP box pointing out the exact subtle mistakes test-setters bait us with.

2. Authentic 2D Sticky-Note Wall + 3D Celestial Rotating Sphere

  • 2D Wall Grid: Built like a real war room investigation board with colored sticky notes, pushpins, frosted tape, and a tactical minimap so you can zoom in/out or jump across topics spatially.
  • 3D Celestial Sphere: An interactive, rotatable 3D globe where formulas orbit in space so you can visually spin and review topics without eye fatigue.

3. Active Recall Triage (Tinder/Anki Style)

  • You can swipe Right (→) if you have the formula mastered, or Left (←) if you’re shaky/blank on it.
  • A live Readiness Index & Projected Percentile bar updates based on what percentage of the syllabus you’ve genuinely mastered.

4. 🎲 Infinite Shuffle Stream

  • Instead of reading formulas in predictable alphabetical order, the randomizer throws unpredictable flashcards at you from your filtered topics so you train your brain to identify concepts out of order — exactly how questions appear on D-Day.

5. Built-in Tactical Tools

  • 40-minute sectional timer with a 22-question triage pacing board (Round 1 ABC triage).
  • Quick mental math toolkits (Base conversion, Prime factors, Compound interest multipliers, etc.).
  • 100% Offline & Private: Zero cloud tracking or spam; everything stays local on your phone/browser.

Please share your honest opinons would you use it

Mock Reviews / Discussion 🎯 Starting to get worried

Post image
12 Upvotes

Completed my degree in May 2026 and started preparing for CAT 26. Self prepared through playlists and resources and then bought AIMCAT and the mock scores were Soul Crushing. Single digits, 17, 25, 28. Highest I went was 34 (in which scored 31 in VARC alone). Then started giving Simcats and scores are between 30-50. Last Simcat I gave it was Simcat 2 and the score was 57. But seeing other people score 100+ in Aimcats and 105+ in the same Simcats that I have given is not a pretty scene.

I'm aiming to score 99+ or 98.5+ and idk after seeing these scores what will happen on D Day and how things will work out. I'm already working on the weak areas but VARC keeps fluctuating. One day it's 34, the next day it's 11. Wanna know if someone else is facing the same issues and it would help if someone gives some advice or guidance for increasing these marks.

Mock Reviews / Discussion 🎯 Scoring low in Dashcats

I've been scoring in 30-40s in dashcats. I've given 8 dashcats till now. Before that, I did PYQs of last 5-6 years as sectionals and I was doing well in them.

In PYQs, I was mostly scoring around VARC (30-35), DILR (1.5 sets) and 8-9 attempts in qa. I didn't know if dashcats are really that hard or I'm missing something in my prep.

Here is the current scenario in dashcats - Varc (20-25), attempts got reduced to 14, DILR - not able to go beyond 1 set and sometimes messes up set selection and result is 0 sets. In QA, my attempts doesn't go beyond 5-6 attempts. Especially, their qa seems to have very few sitters, even their arithmetic has very lengthy questions which takes a large chunk of time to solve.

I don't know what to do, I'm losing faith in myself, in my prep. Any advice would be appreciated.

General Discussion VARC : It's done bro 😔

I started my prep late for CAT and have a decent hold on QA and DILR, The fact I have posted this VARC issue countless time on this subreddit makes me wonder If is it even a post seeking help or ranting about it, But all and all I suck at VARC to the limits that I feel I can't score past the single digit
1. The strategy of Reading a lot
2. Skimming, Skipping
3. Main point ( try comprehending)
All of it is done and I can succesfully say, I'm now thinking what is my plan B
Nonethless if anyone has any Help something which gets me out of this mess will be really appreciated
Thank you

Its almost time and one thing you should know from experience is that you don’t have to solve everything. You should know what to leave.

Profile Review 9/9/9 GEM, 1YOE @ Accenture

Hi, could you guys please give any insight on my profile, I am a 2025 BTech Grad from IPU, Delhi. My profile is 94/94/93. General, Engineer, Male. Did 5 months of internship at Accenture in final year of undergrad, then joined full time and have been there (still working) for exactly a year now (In cybersecurity). Last year I gave CAT25 without any prep, got 92%ile, so thought maybe if I prepare and attempt it again in 2026 maybe I’ll be able to get a decent score, but cat is one month away now and I still haven’t prepared due to the workload at my job. So, I am thinking of quitting my job, and prepare full time for atleast 10 months and then give the CAT27. Because I don’t believe I would be able to prepare with my current job plus switching is not working out for me as I am not getting interviews when I apply.

My questions:
1) Any reviews/insights about my profile?
2) Can any experienced folks suggest how quitting my job could pan out for me? Will this gap be dangerous? Any loopholes?

Thanks in advance!

Question Shall I re-solve all DILR PYQs between now and CAT? Or do new ones? Coaching is doing new puzzles.

• Upvotes

I've solved them all before, but was wondering if I should re-solve. DILR is really weak for me. Targeting only 2 sets in the paper.

General Discussion VARC standing - help needed

Hey everyone
How are you guys making out if you’re consistently scoring your target marks in VARC?

I’ve given a no. of pyq sectionals and have gotten my target marks in those.

Have been scoring in a fixed range in simcats which is 10-12 marks below than pyqs.

I have the VARC 1000 course but honestly their sectionals this year have been really difficult so scores have been volatile.

I’m worried since this is the section I need to pull max marks out of, but I still can’t gauge if I’m where I should be.

Please help

General Discussion Is there any Hope Chico ?

Seeing a lot of people from tier 1 B schools and just wanna ask if you are or you know anyone with Bad Grades who still managed to convert the respective B school. Especially if they are category students.

I'm aiming to score 99+ or 98.5+ at least as I'm NC OBC Male with 74/72/69 profile, no workex, Fresher graduated with a plain commerce degree. Ik I'm already pretty deep in the smug because of the grades and almost every corner of this community is giving me a sign that a Tier 1 is not possible with such grades. Just wanna know if that's actually the case.

Profile Review CAT 2027 aspirant here need advice on preparation, profile, and realistic B-school targets

Hi everyone! I'm planning to appear for CAT 2027 and would appreciate some advice on preparation.

I'm currently pursuing CSE degree at a tier 2 clg, graduating in September 2027. My profile is 93% in 10th, 80.4% in 12th, and 9.58 CGPA in college. I'm a fresher and belong to the General category.

I'd love suggestions on how to start preparing, which resources or coaching (if any) are worth it, and what CAT percentile I should realistically target for the top IIMs and other good B-schools.

Any advice from CAT aspirants or MBA students would be really helpful. Thanks!

Question Need Advice: CAT Preparation Alongside a Job After UPSC Attempts

Hey everyone, I’m a 24M currently unemployed. I have appeared for three UPSC CSE attempts and cleared Prelims this year. Due to some personal reasons, I now need to start earning and am actively looking for a job, possibly in sales, with a monthly salary of ₹25,000 or more.

Alongside my job, I’m considering preparing for CAT, with the aim of securing admission to a good MBA college and eventually getting a job with a package of around ₹15 LPA. I’m flexible about the institute and don’t have a specific college in mind.

My academic profile:

  • Class 10: 95%
  • Class 12: 94%
  • B.Sc. Mathematics: 8.23 CGPA

I have a few questions and would really appreciate advice from people familiar with CAT and MBA admissions:

  1. CAT vs UPSC Prelims: How competitive is CAT compared to UPSC Prelims in terms of difficulty, competition, and the preparation required?
  2. Chances of admission: Given my academic profile and background, what are my realistic chances of getting into a good MBA college that offers placement packages of around ₹15 LPA?
  3. Impact of work experience: If I take up a sales job while preparing for CAT, will it improve my profile, have little impact, or potentially affect my chances of admission? How much weightage do MBA colleges generally give to work experience?
  4. Preparing alongside a job: Is it realistically possible to prepare for CAT while working a full-time job, especially in a sales role that may involve long or unpredictable working hours?
  5. Overall strategy: Given my circumstances, would you recommend pursuing CAT while working, and what should I keep in mind while choosing a job?

I understand that CAT results, college selection criteria, and placements depend on several factors. I’m looking for realistic advice about my chances, the colleges I could target, and the best way to approach this transition.
