Starting a book 22F UK Short stories & non-fiction

Hi! I remember reading short stories when I was younger, and I really enjoyed them (Oscar Wilde, Edgar Allan Poe, etc.). I'm also interested in topics like psychology and philosophy. I want to pick up the habit of reading again, and I'd love to read the same short stories with a buddy and discuss them together. I love stories that are melancholic, tragic or with a dark twist. For non-fiction, I don't mind if we read different books, but we can still share what we've learnt. Ideally, I'm looking for someone

- age 18-40, based in the UK

- using Discord

- happy to text & discuss once a week

- if you know your mbti, I get along well with enfj/entj/infj/intj

If you're interested, please dm me and tell me whether you fit/ are happy with the above criteria :)

Seeking long-term book buddies 40F reading mostly contemporary romcoms

Looking for people who are 30+ and enjoy reading funny and emotional romance books. For example, some of my favourite authors are Alexis Hall, Anita Kelly and Alicia Thompson. I read other genres too, but that is the main one I read. The genres I don't read are dark romance, horror, thrillers, true crime, any book that is mostly sad, dark, or violent.

We don't need to read the same book at the same time, just be able to talk in general, discuss books that we liked, or we didn't; and I want to become friends in general too.

Please contact me if you're very friendly and talkative, and if you use Discord mainly to interact. And also please pay attention to the age requirement, and to the fact that I want to be able to discuss funny/happy emotional books.

I live in Europe but I don't mind talking with people in other time zones.

Seeking long-term book buddies Looking for a reading buddy

Why do old people wake up early even when they go to sleep late? If you know the answer, I think we’ll get along.

Hi! 23F here. I’m looking for someone to read and discuss books with since none of my friends are really into reading.

I’m open to pretty much any topic or genre, although I usually prefer nonfiction. I’m happy to read in both English and Arabic, but I’d especially love to read more in Arabic because I absolutely love Arabic literature.

Some authors I like are Dostoevsky, Gibran Khalil Gibran, and Al-Manfaluti.

I also enjoy music, so feel free to share your favourite artists and songs with me.

I’d love to exchange recommendations, share our thoughts, and discuss interesting ideas or random questions along the way. We could read the same book together or just share what we’re currently reading.

Send me a message telling me a little about yourself and some of your favourite books or what you enjoy reading. :)

Seeking long-term book buddies Beginner reader looking for a book buddy 📚🙂

Hey everyone!

I'm a complete beginner who recently got into reading, so I'm still exploring this whole bookish world and figuring out what I enjoy.

I'm mostly interested in nonfiction — books that teach me something, help me understand people and the world better, or give me a new perspective on life.

But I'm not completely against fiction! If you're the kind of person who gets ridiculously enthusiastic about fictional characters, and makes me feel like I'm missing out on the greatest story ever written, there's a good chance you'll convince me to read it. 😂 I'm very much open to being influenced by passionate readers.

I'm looking for a book buddy who can guide me as I explore reading, recommend books, exchange thoughts, and have those discussions.

I'm just hoping to meet someone curious, open-minded, and enthusiastic about sharing what they love. We can learn things together, disagree about ideas, exchange recommendations, and hopefully become good friends along the way.

Seeking long-term book buddies any readers want to do a Photo Challenge with me?

Hi people,

29F here. I run a book discord where I also do creative challenges including a Photo Challenge where you take a photo based on a given prompt.

Currently I have the first round of my challenge ongoing, and the PROMPT is: Take a photo of a BOOK or NOTEBOOK you have.

If anyone wants to join, please do so here: https://discord.gg/78ypGCATs6 🎟

My server is called Beach Palace and besides the challenges, it is a place for readers and writers. It is also new and I am collecting members for it these days.

Seeking buddy & flexible on book choice Looking for a casual, no-stress book buddy (26M)

Not trying to set strict targets or to become better at reading. Nobody in my circle really reads, and I got tired of chatting with these dead llm's about books.

Just looking for someone to trade random blind recommendations with, chat about good plots or prose, and discover unexpected favorites or the opposite of it too.

I read all over the place. Currently finishing The Witcher series, but I also jump between classics/existential works (Fitzgerald, Camus, Kafka, Dostoevsky, Oscar Wilde, etc.), mysteries (Agatha Christie, Doyle), and cozy reads (The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery, and many random books, the only type of books that I prefer in audio form).

Down for buddy reads or just trading updates whenever we finish a book.

Starting a book The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

32F, Looking for more book buddies to read/chat about The Hunger Games on discord, just started my reread today!! I don't know why but it feels so much more devastating on a reread for me. I would love more peeps to rant/yap with!

Let me know if you'd be interested in joining me on the reread (or if you've already read it and want to share thoughts).

Recently finished Sunrise on the Reaping, and I'm still in recovery mode... 🥹 I hope the new movie will be as good as the book. The trailer did look promising.

Seeking long-term book buddies 23F Looking for a female book buddie

Hi,

I’m looking for someone who I can exchange thoughts, impressions, talking about the characters in depth about whatever. I enjoy reading anything as  long as the story sounds good. Okay, not dark romance tho…  or anything by Colleen Hoover or that sort.

Right now I started reading The Portrait of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde after finishing Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi.

I‘m a student, who besides books likes poems, music (jazz, pop, alternative, hiphop and more), crocheing, movies and shows. So perhaps we’ll have more things to talk about besides books.

If you are a woman 22-25 feel free to dm me.😊 Please no men!

Seeking long-term book buddies Looking for people to talk about books with! 📚

Hey! I’m a 20 M India looking for some people to read and discuss books with.
Some of my favourites are The Brothers Karamazov and The Count of Monte Cristo. I’ve also been interested in writers like Dostoevsky and Proust lately.
I’m open to pretty much anything as long as it’s good. I’d love to discuss books we’ve read, share recommendations, exchange opinions, or even read the same book together and talk about it as we go.
You don’t have to be an avid reader or have some incredibly sophisticated taste in literature. Just looking for people who genuinely enjoy talking about books.
If you’re interested, feel free to comment or DM me. It’d be nice to find some people with similar interests! :)

Starting a book Looking for someone to read Demon Copperhead with. 21+ only

Hey y'all. I'm looking for a reading buddy who'd like to pick up Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver with me. This has been burning a hole in my TBR list for a while, and truth be told I've already read a few chapters... and I'm utterly hooked. The style is delightful and it made me want to find someone to share my thoughts with ASAP!

I'd prefer people 21+, as the title says. Bonus if you're from Appalachia, but it's not required by any means. Also bonus if you want to chat about other things too, like writing, cryptids and movies. I have a lot of interests that go beyond books, but I am a lit geek.

Hey! I’m 25M from India, looking for a book buddy who might turn into a genuine friend! 📚☕️
I mostly read romance, classics, and romantasy. Some of my favourites are The Cruel Prince series, Once Upon a Broken Heart, Funny story, Kafka on the shore and many more.
Currently reading Fourth Wing, and PLEASE, if you’ve read it or are reading it too, I need someone to scream about Violet and Xaden with because I’m losing my mind and have no one to talk to about them. 😭
Would love to discuss books, share recommendations, judge fictional characters together, and occasionally get sidetracked into the most random conversations. 🫶🏻
If that sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to DM me! 💕
