Playing around with the idea of leaving the heraldry off or adding it etc. but posting it to a community that understands Warhammer painting lol. And I’m thinking I’m going to have to redo my lighting so details can be seen better.

Haven't played BTs yet, I own the ones with green ticks(half the yellow). Would this list be fun(not worried about meta/competitive) in casual games in 11th? I was thinking either this or go the way of more sword brethren and crusader squads. Just thinking before I buy a bunch of stuff and realize maybe I should have gone the other direction.

So with the new detachments I was initially feeling that it would be no issue to use vows with whatever 1 point detachment you wanted but assault brethren feels like an auto include in many lists, to the point that I start with it and go from there it’s not as easy as I assumed to keep vow sworn.

With how many sources of lance there are (including from assault brethren, and the nerf to accept any challenge, it’s hard to justify it in my eyes.

To me, Vow sworn is useful for 3 things, if you are fighting knights (and knew before hand so you didn’t pay points for chaplains/ other sources of lance), if you know you are fighting a psyker faction, and if you need the purge force disposition.

Those are legitimate use cases but I wish what is supposed to be the defining detachment of black Templars had more generic usefulness.

It’s supposed to be a Swiss Army knife that lets you change vows as needed but it’s if a Swiss Army knife only had the tweezers, corkscrew, and tooth pick. Those are all useful at times, but you kind of want a knife for your Swiss Army knife.

This should allow me to keep a balanced SM list on their toes. Any thoughts?

Okay small model count very elite. Idea is 10 man Assault Squad with Capitan and Ancient start on home. Both Sword Brethren Squads start out but next to Landraider to stall Deployment. Shooty Terms and Vanguard start in Deepstrike. 10 man can't fit the points limit due to characters. Round 2 or maybe even 1 I use Thunderhawk Extraction to get the 10 man into Deepstrike and maybe use the Teleport Homer to bounce them right back in. Play to Secondary and each unit should be able to pick up just about anything that charge. Landraider is AT and delivery system for SBs. Everything is durable with Grimaldus's unit being T6 and Helbrickts unit having the 5+ invulnerable save. It can be out maneuvered but not really out fought easily.

Also for anyone questioning how this is Sword Brethren only. Old lore was SBs were ALL First Company units. Not sure if that's the same or has changed.

BROTHERS I SEEK YOUR GUIDANCE

Alright so here's the concept. At least one, maybe two squads of 5 man Sword Brethern in Drop Pods, one with Grimaldus and one with Emporers champion. Both squads take the fervent exemplars +1 charge, and each leader gives +1 charge. As long as i am only doing one per turn. I can do a 7 inch charge turn one if I go first straight into their teeth with a CP re roll. Since its gauntlet, obviously running MCPWs to benefit from the Sustains. Only downside is I have to get one of my other transports within range to at least get a hit to provide the sustains. With all this in mind, what do yall think?

I was prepping the Xmas wishlist and I was just looking through the rules when I came across this under the Heirs of Sigismund section in the army rules.

• Your army cannot include the following datasheets from Codex: Space Marines: GLADIATOR LANCER; GLADIATOR REAPER; GLADIATOR VALIANT; IMPULSOR; REPULSOR; REPULSOR EXECUTIONER.

I am pretty sure I have seen a fair amount of discussion here about these vehicles. Do we just ignore this "guidline"?
