Discussion Am I delusional or doing something wrong?

I’m genuinely at a loss. I'm not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if I’m just delusional about my looks. Whenever I interact with gay guys around my age (early to mid-20s), I’m either instantly blocked or ignored.

I’m not sure why that’s the case, considering:
1. I'm new to this city.
2. I have no history with the people here.
3. I’m not involved in the gay scene at all, online or offline. I don’t even have an Instagram or TikTok.
4. The city I’m located in is more of a place I sleep than live, so most of my daily human interactions aren’t with people who live here.
5. I know this post might read as a bit arrogant, but IRL most people describe me as quiet and pleasant.

As far as I can tell, there’s no possible way I could have gotten an entire community of gay people I've never interacted with to hate me. And it’s specifically gay guys in my age range. Older gay guys (28+) who are rather attractive are willing to interact with me. Women, straight men, everything else, they’re cool with me.

I thought maybe I was being too picky, so I tried speaking to guys who don’t exactly fit conventional beauty standards, and I got the same results, instantly blocked or ignored.

I’m not sure what I did, or if I’ve been delusional about my looks, or if I fit outdated standards that don’t appeal to people my age. I just want to date someone who isn’t nearly a decade older than me (I tried it, and I hate the way they act like they’re my father).

I know I’m not entitled to their time and attention or anything, but it’s actually insane how for 10 months straight I’ve gotten the same result every time.

Being Black and LGBTQ+ means being part of a community filled with courage, diversity, and beautiful stories. 🖤🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ This picture represents my pride, my identity, and my hope for a world where everyone can live freely without fear or judgment.

Our identities deserve respect, our voices deserve to be heard, and our lives deserve dignity. No matter the challenges we face, we deserve love, safety, and the freedom to be ourselves.

To every Black LGBTQ+ person finding their way in this world: you belong, your story matters, and you deserve to be seen. Let's continue building a community rooted in solidarity, understanding, and mutual support. ✊🏿❤️
