Need volunteer for my midterm

Hi! For my midterm project, I'm looking to interview a student who's balancing work and classes. It would be a 15–20 minute recorded video call, scheduled at whatever time works best for you. If you're interested and comfortable to be on camera, let me know and we can set something up before October 22nd. Thank you so much!

Fin 4808 or Fin 4093?

• Upvotes

Should I take fin4808 risk management with Linda Allen or fin4093 special topics in finance with Marianne Wolk/Richard Horwitz? Can someone tell me their experiences with both professors and how did it go? I hear Wolk just implemented an excel exam last semester. What times are classes if anyone can fill me in please. Spring is my last semester in Baruch.

Student Life Why is the library so loud?

I mean it's literally a library but I can't focus no matter where I am because people will talk like it's an open cafeteria, it's insane. And you can't really escape that noise save for booking a private room all to yourself. I mean Ill literally reserve a spot in the remote learning section and there will be gaggles of people just chatting, like cmon is it so hard to be a bit courteous to people who are actively having a class? I'll have my earbuds with nc on, and I can still hear the insane amount of talking all around me. Even the public libraries I've been to aren't this loud. Do I need to take my classes and studying elsewhere or something? It's driving me nuts, especially a week before midterms.

Urgent issue w/ financial aid

I hardly post on reddit but i have no idea where to go from here. I’ve emailed Bursar, Baruch tap/excelsior, BOSS, and HESC and so far they all directed me to one of aforementioned places and they all say the same thing every single time.

So I applied for TAP months ago and it still doesn’t show up under my financial aid package. I then applied for the excelsior scholarship and I ended up getting it not too long after, and this was in August. I emailed baruch tap/excelsior and bursar and they all said they didn’t see any information under my financial aid package. Or in other words, they don’t have any records of my tap or excelsior scholarship.

They then told me to email HESC and I got this response in september. I also called them yesterday and they said everything is approved. I also went to bursar office today and they said they would email me.

My biggest worry now is registering for classes. I cannot register for next semester’s classes without paying for my balance. Baruch is unable to give me an estimate of how much I’m paying because it doesn’t show up on their end. And HESC mentioned how the excelsior award is given at the end (?) but thats very inconvenient, and TAP doesn’t show up regardless.

My question is now, if possible how do I defer tuition fees bc of the excelsior scholarship? who would i talk to for that? and how can they fix my HESC information not popping up? All my information is the same on both acc so im just confused

ENROLLMENT APT

Anyone who is going to be a lower junior next semester could share what time is their enrollment appointment? I always get such a later appointment time than everyone else that is the same standing as me and I would like to know if it’s common. I am an international student but don’t know if that changes anything.

MTH4320 override success? Transfer student MTH3150 equivalent only credit transferred

Hi everyone, I’m a transfer student at Baruch. My discrete math course from my old school transferred as equivalent to MTH 3150. Only credit was transferred, not the letter grade, and my original raw score was 73/100.

I’m trying to apply for a prerequisite override for MTH 4320. Has anyone successfully gotten an override for MTH 4320 from the math department under a similar situation?

I’ve taken multiple AI, machine learning and Python courses after discrete math and did well in them. Any experience or advice would be really helpful. Thanks a lot!

How bad is this professor? Her RMP rating is 1.5, and she’s the only class I need, but her comments seem bad. But there are some good reviews, so I'm not sure what to think or expect. The class works with my schedule too, but I’ll consider changing it, so lmkkk pleaseeee

Class Registration

Hiiii everyone,

I was wondering what the earliest day and time people have to actually register for classes is. The earliest day I heard so far is Oct 26th at 6pm. I was wondering if there is an earlier day or time than that. I just want to see if I have any chance of getting the classes I want 😭. Thank youu.

I got an F in a midterm, how bad is it?

Hi all, as the title says I got an F in a midterm and was wondering how bad it is for my GPA? Can I still pass in my class ? There are so many side projects in this class plus the 2 exams. I have never gotten an F in my life and I am really shocked and mad. Should I just talk ti my professor?
