Upgrading Programs
I am planning to register for the Physics 11 and technical mathematics upgrading courses as pre-requisites to hopefully go into the sonography program at BCIT. Has anybody taken these? Any advice on the course and the course load it self? and would you recommend getting the course materials second hand, if possible? Is it possible to have a FT job while doing these courses? I know that’s probably subjective, but what worked for you? TIA

I’m doing the math 1013 course rn and I would say you have to put some effort into it there are about 1.5-2 hrs worth of lectures and then a quiz and homework due every Wednesday quiz is done between 5-8 pm. There are a bunch of questions for practice but you don’t have to do them

What did you have to provide in order to get into the course? If any?? Im applying to Technical mathematics which is a free course so im not sure if the process would be the same or similar. From my understanding, the course you’re in is paid

Don’t do math upgrading at bcit it’s not transferable. Do it at VCC or KPU

Thanks for the advice, I’ll look into their math upgrading courses! If there’s no tuition I guess it makes sense to go with a course that’s transferable!

If you’re comfortable with self directed learning, it’s free to take high school level courses as an adult in BC and there are a lot of online school options. I’m currently taking Pre-calculus at SIDES and it’s all online and it’s been a very positive experience. Because there’s no formal class time it’s easy to work during. And you can book a zoom meeting with a teacher if you have questions too.
This is just if you wanted to look at other options! The other commenter is right that BCIT courses don’t always transfer well
