VOTES Autism dad of 4 young kids under 8 seeking help from the Reddit community

Moderators- Please delete if not allowed.

Hey everyone,

I’m a Massachusetts dad of four kids under 8 years old, balancing a full-time career, running a lawn improvement side hustle, raising my kids, volunteering as Treasurer for a local autism non-profit and tackling just about every DIY project I can get my hands on.

One of my sons has autism, he is level 3 non-verbal autistic, and being a dad has taught me more about patience, perspective, and what really matters than anything else in my life.

A few months ago, I entered the Ace Hardware SuperDad competition, never expecting much to come of it, and really just as an alternative to applying for autism grants since so many have income requirements that make us ineligible.

With the help of family and friends I made it all the way to the Group Finals and I’ve been in first place for most of the competition, but recently slipped into second.

Now I’m trying to reach a few people beyond my usual circle.

The winner receives $25,000 and a chance to appear in a national Ace Hardware commercial. While I know it’s a total longshot, I’d be remiss if I didn’t try to win this money mainly to support my autistic son’s expensive medical costs.

**I’m not asking anyone to spend money.** The competition allows one free vote every 24 hours, although it does require Facebook verification.
If my story resonates with you and you’d like to help another dad out, I’d genuinely appreciate a free vote.

Voting for this round ends Thursday, October 15, at 10 PM Eastern.

Thanks for reading, and thanks to everyone who supports dads showing up for their families every day.

REQUEST FULFILLED Help with groceries til payday

We recently had some emergency expenses come up medical bills and having to get a new car after ours got totalled and until next Friday, we have very little to live on.

I have been struggling with debilitating symptoms of PTSD and depression. Cooking has been so overwhelming for me, even though I usually enjoy it, that I sometimes just don't eat. I also have fibromyalgia and have been flaring up big time since I got the flu. I am currently job searching, but my husband works, so we should be able to catch up in a few weeks. We are just struggling to just get to next week. I feel extremely guilty reaching out for help, but I feel like I am drowning. Any and all help is appreciated. I don't expect anything and I hope to be able to pay it forward when I am in a better position to do so.

REQUEST Asking for help to cover the last bit to avoid eviction in 2 days

Hello, we fell behind on rent, and need $700.00 by tomorrow afternoon to avoid having to move out by noon on 10/16.

Restore Hope is open Tuesdays and Thursdays only, and if I can show them that I have $1493.00, they will cover the remaining $1100.00.

I have all but $700.00

We are so close.

Here is my go fund me, but released funds take 2 to 5 days to show up in the bank account, which would still be appreciated and helpful, but isn't fast enough to avoid eviction. I did post on r/gofundme. Tough crowd over there.

https://gofund.me/ec7ca0790

i don't know if I can find a place to move to in 2 days.

Today I am going to CSL to see if I can sell plasma, and my son and I will both go to a local signature loan place here in town.

Any assistance will be eternally and enthusiastically appreciated!

ETA: I do have paypal and cash app.

REQUEST Help get my mom’s ashes from Portugal

My mom passed unexpectedly last year in Portugal. I’ve been trying like crazy to save enough to get her ashes and a few personal belongings back, and take them to her home country of Chile for a memorial.

Because of 4 surgeries and subsequent physical therapy limiting the number of hours I can work, I’ve only been able to make enough for my own expenses.

It’s time to bring her home. Please help by donating or sharing the link to my GoFundMe. Feel free to comment/message any questions!

Thank you!

REQUEST FULFILLED I need help with my dog's vet care and food $31

For the past few days, my little dog Copito has been trying to vomit after eating; I tried changing her food, but I didn't see any improvement. She seems very lethargic and clearly unwell, so I decided to take her to the vet to see if it might be a stomach issue. To be honest, though, I only have $20 left in my bank account, and the cost of the vet visit alone exceeds that amount. I spoke briefly with the vet on the phone, and the consultation fee is $28; depending on the diagnosis, I might also need to buy soft food for Copito. I don't know the cost of soft food since I've never had to buy it before, but I hope or at least assume it isn't too expensive. I usually buy her regular food for just under $23, so I imagine the soft food costs something similar. Even using the money I have in the bank which I know isn't much I’m still short by $31, which is money I simply don't have right now.

Hello, I had to help my mom out of a sticky situation yesterday with her vehicle, and it took a huge chunk of what I had financially.
