I am studying the Symbolism of Different Flowers and Animals. And want to know what do Turks associate different Flowers and Animals with which characteristics and emotion? For example - Japan has Sakura Trees which they associate with beauty, Red Spider Lilly Higanbana which is used for Noble death what do the Turkish People associate the most common Flowers and Animals with?

I’m considering the possibility of moving to Istanbul to pursue new career opportunities in fashion, textiles, sourcing or supply chain management.
I’m genuinely passionate about Turkey and its culture, and I’ve recently started learning Turkish. I’m willing to improve my language skills over time, ideally while working in an international environment where English is used professionally.

Hey all, my wife and I are spending 10 days in Sorgun near Side from the 17th to the 27th of October. We're pretty obsessed with food (I used to be a pastry chef, so yeah) and we really want to eat where locals eat, not the places on the main tourist strip with pictures on the menu.
We'd love recommendations for a good esnaf lokantası in Side or Manavgat, places for proper pide, köfte or tandır, and anything that's a real Antalya thing. I've read about piyaz with tahini and hibeş but no idea where to get good ones. Also where to find the best gözleme at the Manavgat market and a serious baklava or künefe spot. Proper traditional Turkish food, I can get touristy food in hotel restaurants.

We don't have a car so we'll be using the bus and taxis.

And a bit of a long shot: I did something like this in Tunisia a while ago and a few locals ended up taking us around for a whole day of eating, which was honestly one of the best travel days we've ever had. If anyone in the area would be up for showing us their favourite places, just send me a DM.

We are visiting from NYC, so we are quite used to things being expensive…but the cost of dining here has really blown my mind. In NYC, you can get food at most any price point that’s good quality (you may have to travel further or wait in a longer line, but it exists in bounty).

Any tips for affordable food in Istanbul? Orange Juice here is like $10–which is crazy. Since we are staying in a hotel, we have to pretty much rely on eating out. Are there any meals that are under $10/ 500 lira? We have honestly been struggling to find something under 1000 lira per person.

As I have understood it, there really isn't such a thing as a Turkish DNA. All Turkish speaking lands used to be something else. Istanbul was once Greek speaking. But over time, the people converted to Islam and became Turkish speakers.

Kenan Evren is a good example. He has Albanian origins. His ancestors were Christians who converted to Islam and became Turks. His family moved to what is Todays Turkey during the Ottoman Empire. And he became a general leading Turkey in the 1980s.

So essentially, anyone can become a Turk. Just call yourself a Turk and speak Turkish. And you and your children and children's children will be Turks?

Bir süredir boş zamanlarımda yeni bir dating uygulaması geliştiriyorum. Uygulama artık çalışır durumda ve ilk etapta İstanbul'da başlatmayı düşünüyorum.

Açıkçası Tinder/Bumble'ın bir kopyasını yapıp piyasaya bırakmak istemiyorum. Özellikle Türkiye'de bu uygulamaları kullanan insanların neyden rahatsız olduğunu ve neyin farklı olmasını istediğini anlamaya çalışıyorum.

Şu anda örneğin insanların onlarca kişiye rastgele mesaj atmasını azaltmak için yeni sohbet başlatmaya limit koydum. Karşı taraf cevap verene kadar mesajlar arasında bekleme süresi var; karşılıklı sohbet başladıktan sonra bu kısıtlama kalkıyor. Amacım biraz daha az spam, biraz daha gerçek sohbet.

Başlangıçta geri bildirim verip uygulamanın şekillenmesine yardımcı olan insanları da sonradan unutmak istemiyorum. Bu yüzden ilk kullanıcılar için kalıcı bir Kurucu Üye / Founding Member rozeti ve ileride bazı ayrıcalıklar düşünüyorum. Bunun nasıl olması gerektiği konusunda da fikirlere açığım.

For reference, he is studying in the UK and has a British passport as he is born here. After he completes university, he wants to get his Turkish passport and start by doing the mandatory conscription and then go on to do a full time contracted role. He is applying for his Turkish citizenship and passport now and graduating in about 1.5 years. What would this look like for our relationship considering that I have no intention of moving to Türkiye? When I’ve researched it, I’ve heard that often a minimum commitment to a full time contracted role is at least 3 years. He is being very vague about how long he would want to be in Türkiye for and what the rules are about visiting loved ones etc, which is really worrying me because when I research it I get really concerned that it would cause our relationship to fail.
