Satın aldığımız her şeyi kendi paramızla aldık.”

Travel & Places should i solo travel to visit a man?

i was on holiday in Antalya maybe 2 months ago and while I was there, me and my guide got on so well.

he was quite handsome and he would take me to everywhere for an exceptionally good price and we flirted whole time.

I thought it was just the normal turkish hospitality i had been receiving everywhere, but since returning home we've been chatting a bit on WhatsApp and he's saying how much he enjoyed the time together and he wants to see me more, and keeps asking when I will go back

I was genuinely planning on a solo trip because i loved Turkey so much, but am I being foolish is i go to see him specifically?

Hani böyle yerel pazarlar, eski mahalleler, gelenekler falan olsun istiyorum.

iPhone:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota/id6744969212

Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

Education IGCSE in Ankara - Taught in schools?

I don’t know why this question was taken down but I hope it’s posted because I’m genuinely asking about IGCSE studies in Ankara

We are planning to move to Ankara very soon and I would like to know whether IGCSE studies are taught in state schools or do I I have to enroll my child in some private institution?

Where I live the IGCSE are either taught at schools or they are given the option to study alone at home and just attend for exams in a designated institution or organization .. is it the same in Ankara??

Culture Where can I learn more about the Turkish cin?

Merhaba everyone! I am a Scandinavian interested in Turkish culture, currently working on a horror short story that has to include some mythical creature from real folk lore. I am interested in the Turkish concept of the cin, as I want to play around with the phrase "in cin" (as in "İn cin top oynamak"), but I can't find much about it and was worried that it was merely another version of the more general Islamic Jinn, which I fear that more people will have associations with (I would like to use something that might be less known in a Scandinavian context). I learned Turkish a few years ago and will probably be able to read Turkish texts if those are the best sources.

Thanks in advance!

Legal Changing Ikamet category

Hi guys, first time posting on here. I've went through the sub and couldn't find a similar situation to this and I had to post because it's been really hard.

(This is my bf's issue not mine but he's not on Reddit)

Basically he has been living in turkey for like 5 years, 4 of them for university. He applied for renewal in June for his student ikamet and this summer was his last semester( he had summer classes). The issue is that they only got back to him right after he graduated asking him to send a university enrollment doc which now he can't have... The reason why it took so long to get back to him is because they got back to him in July with a missing document and he sent it and had to wait again.

Now he wants to do the graduate ikamet, where foreigners can get a short term ikamet if they graduated from a Turkish university. However, he keeps hearing different things and 157 don't know anything apparently. They told him he can change the category of the ikamet (since the student one is still pending technically) and another one told him he has to leave turkey and come back and an agency told him he should have applied for the graduate ikamet initially but he didn't know. They said to send an email to the immigration office explaining this and hoping they agree. There's also info on the website that says you should withdraw the application and apply again with the new category but if he withdraws, doesn't that mean he's illegally in turkey now? It's all so confusing.

Idk if you guys or anyone you know has gone through this, so please help with any info you know

Travel & Places Istanbul solo travel advice

I am currently solo travelling and staying in istanbul. Staying in karakoy but everything feels so overpriced.

I did this yesterday:

Boris’in yeri breakfast - good but felt overpriced
Found a hole in the wall chicken doner for super cheap
Hagia Sophia
Blue Mosque
Hippodrome of Constantinople aka sultanahmet square
Basilica Cistern - extremely overpriced
Spice bazaar - felt scammy
Galata bridge

Almost every restaurant and cafe I saw in sirceci, karakoy and sultanahmet felt like a tourist trap. Does anyone have any recommendations for restaurants and cafes that locals would actually eat at? I need to find reasonably priced coffee in karakoy, these cafes want 230TL for an americano. Also any street food or restaurant recommendations?

Also is topkapi palace worth the time and money? Any more recommendations food/coffee/travel advice for cappadocia and antalya as well?

Not finding great money exchange rates, any recommendations for bank withdrawals vs exchanges and where?
