Hey guys, I (M22) met this girl (F24) on an online platform...had a chat and eventually we added each other...at first I didn't think much....but then she told me that she recently went through a breakup....and she's a person with with anxiety issues and she overthinks a lot and all this stuff...it was evident that she was hurt and very sad ....also she has very low self esteem....now the thing imwe are texting regularly now....i am not that busy nowadays and she is an active texter and she is very curious and asks a lot of questions which I don't mind honestly as I don't talk much myself.
So the thing is she is not at all normal and she's kinda suicidal(ik I'm dropping this suddenly). So like she said that she's enjoying my company very much and she's very happy now after a long time and allat....but she can't get over her past trauma....she didn't have a good childhood and even her school and Uni experience was very lonely and she didn't have many friends....also she's not so close with her family also....she feels she has failed them and all that stuff....now the thing is I'm scared ....I mean hella scared I feel if....if she takes any wrong step i might be a reason for that...also she sounds so depressed...like she's not faking it to get attention....ik it's real....and and and I'm not a great talker and I can't console people...ik that's my fault...but I want advice what should I do now or what should I say to her....like on texts and all she's says she's the one who's doing all the talking which I agree....I can't find words to talk to her without offending or making her sad...as she's already so vulnerable...and also she's always saying sorry even for the smallest things....like it's not even her fault...like she's saying "sorry I was asleep, so i couldn't reply to your text on time.."
I mean it's ok ...you were asleep...no big deal ....but she keeps on apologising and saying she can't disappoint me who's with her at this point of her life...and honestly I don't think I'm helping at all...im just a loser who can't even console people who r grieving...so yes I need help....pls tell me help....pls tell me how should I handle this and the what all should I talk with her without especially offending or saddening her....so that she gets over this phase or her life and she doesn't harm herself.
Also, recently she's been saying that she wants to go out somewhere...like just out of her house...and we were just talking about it....and in the beginning it was vague ....but eventually she asked me if we could go together....the thing is I'm not in a situation to go on that specific date...and like not in the near future as well due to some reasons... I kind of made an excuse yk....that I'll try and all....but she rly got mad and sad regarding it idk why....and then she was very sulky....and again blaming herself for that....
So pls guys help me....what should I do any advice is appreciated.
Note: I don't have any wrong intentions with her istg ...im just so ln edge after she was being suicidal and I just want to help her....and the whole need for this reddit post is that I'm a loser who can't communicate...so pls help me...I would really appreciate that.
Pardon the bad English and grammar.
TL;DR:
A 22-year-old man met a 24-year-old woman online who is recovering from a recent breakup, struggles with low self-esteem, has past trauma, and has expressed suicidal thoughts. She relies heavily on him for happiness, texts him constantly, and frequently apologizes out of fear of disappointing him.
The original poster (OP) is deeply anxious and terrified that he might say the wrong thing or be blamed if she harms herself. Because he considers himself a poor communicator who struggles to console others, he feels highly overwhelmed. The situation worsened when he made an excuse to decline her invitation to meet up in person, causing her to become upset and self-blaming. He is asking Reddit for advice on how to talk to her safely without triggering her, and how to handle this intense situation.
