Advice [Los Gatos, California, USA] Help identifying an antique cast bronze/brass bell (c. 1910-1925) from the historic Yung See San Fong estate

I’m looking for help identifying this antique brass (or bronze) bell and iron horseshoe mount. It is approximatley 7" at the bell. It was recently removed from the Yung See San Fong house, a 1917 estate on the National Register of Historic Places here in Los Gatos, CA.

When a restorer recently took the bell down from one of the doors, we were astonished to find bare wood underneath—no paint at all. This means the bell was installed when the house was first built in 1917 (or possibly during a 1922 addition), and the original painters simply painted around it.

The original owners, Senator Sanborn Young and author Ruth Comfort Mitchell, kept horses on the property, so the iron horseshoe mount was the perfect accessory for them.

Our working theory is that this bell might have been ordered from a circa-1917 Sears, Roebuck and Co. catalog, as they sold practically everything by mail-order at the time. However, my initial scan of the cataloge from 1918 didn't show any bells of this sort.

Show and Tell An original phonograph player was founded around 1885–1886 in the city of Leipzig (then part of the Kingdom of Saxony—now Germany) by Paul and Ernst Lochmann.

The Symphonion Musikwerke company was founded around 1885–1886 in the city of Leipzig (then part of the Kingdom of Saxony—now Germany) by Paul and Ernst Lochmann. They were the inventors of music boxes with interchangeable tin plates. This allowed a single music box to play many different melodies. Around 1900, Symphonion had to face new challenges in the music industry. Edison, with his wax cylinders, and Emil Berliner, with his invention of the records, dominated the market. Symphonion responded by introducing innovative gramophones to the market. The quality of their craftsmanship was legendary, and their engines were considered indestructible. Unfortunately, Symphonion could not compete in the market with its high quality standards and the associated prices; low-cost manufacturers such as Lindström flooded the market. What remains are rare mechanical masterpieces that are now considered investments.
The Symphonion has been restored and is in perfect condition. Only materials that were used at the time were employed. The wooden cabinet was stripped of its non-original layers of paint and hand-polished anew with approximately 20 layers of shellac. The motor was cleaned and should function without any problems for the next 50 years. Oxidized parts were re-nickel-plated, because no one wants to look at rust spots while enjoying the music of the 1920s. The sound box was fitted with new rubber bearings, and the sound is as good as it was on the day it was first delivered in 1908.

Advice Found in an estate clean out, How can I verify the authenticity? USA

Located in the Midwest of the USA

When looking up information on Sara Wadsworth on Google I can find some information verifying the date range that she was alive. My uncle's ex used to thrift regularly in the 90s and found this. I helping my uncle out by selling some vintage Murano Glass on eBay for him and we found this plate? The plate is misshapen as if it were handmade. It has texture to it, heavy and is really vibrant with color still. It has been wrapped in news paper since the 90's and was picked up thrifting by my uncle's ex. I don't have more information on its origin than that. I have tons of Victorian and depression era glass books but I can't find anything similar. Any help with identifying this piece or how I can verify the information would be awesome. I want to keep it since it is so stunning.

Can anyone help me estimate resale value on this? It belonged to my mother who is now deceased. Dimensions are approximately 14.5”x14.5” by 16” tall. There are original document stickers inside each drawer, with company name etc. Apparently this company operated on chestnut street in Philadelphia from the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. ChatGPT says it’s worth around $400-1500. That’s a pretty big range. Anyone else have any idea? So grateful for the knowledgeable people on this chat who take the time to respond - thank you so much 🙏

Advice Help identifying a small hand-painted saucer – Japanese or Chinese - (found in Australia)

I recently acquired this small saucer, approximately 14 cm in diameter.
It has a pale blue-grey glaze with a subtle iridescent sheen, and a painted bird and floral design. The underside is completely unmarked.
I’m interested in learning more about its origin, approximate age and the technique used to decorate it.
Could this be Japanese lustreware, or something else entirely?
Any information would be appreciated.

Questions [USA] German Folk or Pennsylvania Dutch Wardrobe, 1800s - Identification Help

My wife inherited this wardrobe from her parents who bought it at an antique store in either Illinois or Missouri ~30 years ago. They don't have any information on its origin. It has has pieces replaced, lost, or added, but is held together with wooden wedges as seen in the last photo and can be dismantled. The top and bottom are separate pieces, I believe. The shelves are not original and the quatrefoil outlines might have at one point been red moulding. The size is 69.25" x 24" x 71".

Based on other pieces we've found online, the title is our best guesses for the origin of this. It has round feet and the original wooden pegs inside, as well as the original hardware with what looks like hand-wrought nails. Would anyone know any more exact details as to its origins? And if so, are there any safety concerns re: lead or toxicity in the paint and stain used? We're hoping to restore it and stick as close to a period accurate/its original design as possible.
