Rant I'll burn that bridge when l get to it

Yeah, today l said fuck it after almost 2 years. It started out as a side hustle so l could get veneers. I got converted after two months and before l know it two years had passed. ...In February, l transferred to a different FC, there are no robots, NONE! Ppl move everything! It's so different from my old FC. During Peak, six 10 hour days for two weeks, not five 12 hour days. It makes a huge difference. This week 2 and l'm exhausted. 14 days, 2 days off! I asked is this the schedule during Peak? Yes. Fuck that, l gave my two weeks, then l said fuck it, l'm done. I am putting shit in a box ( pick, pack, sort) to make a billionaire more money. No, l now have enough income. I just like to shop. I will learn to control my shopping and get some rest.

Parting Thoughts:

If there is any company on this planet whose employees need a union, it's fucking AMAZON. Six days a week, 10 hours a day from November 27-December 24 is insane and abusive to workers. I was told: We don't do 12 hours days here because we care about work life balance. You care about work-life balance and between 27 November and December 24, your employees will have 3 days off??? Fuck that place man. I feel sympathetic towards those ppl who have to stay. Use your Career Choice and get out!!!It's sad but l am so glad to be done!

I panicked and stashed it, but is there any hope of me getting it out? I usually have a bag with a lot of stuff with me should I just toss it in or throw it out

Question 4 months into Amazon as a college hire L4 Area Manager and already want out. How do I transition out?

I’m a college hire L4 Area Manager who came to Amazon after working in healthcare, and I’m already questioning whether I made the right decision. I relocated from Florida to New England for this opportunity, but the experience has been rough from the start. I’m keeping my location vague because I don't want to identify my facility.

Before I was fully onboarded, two L6s and an L7 had already left my site. My onboarding was also a disaster. My start date was changed at the last minute, I was bounced between multiple people, and nobody at my site seemed to be tracking my progress. I was left handling things like booking flights and rental cars myself.

To make matters worse, I frequently received contradictory instructions from people who weren't communicating with one another. Nobody consistently checked in with me or clearly explained what I needed to do, and I was even accidentally signed up for classes I didn't need. I received very little guidance but often felt blamed for not knowing things that hadn't been properly explained. An investigation was eventually opened into my onboarding, but nothing really seemed to come of it.

I feel like my current L7 Operations Manager lost trust in me before we even had a chance to work together, partly because of how poorly my onboarding went. He wasn't even directly responsible for onboarding the Area Managers.

Recently, I took two Saturdays off in a row using my flexible PTO. My L7 confronted me and said my team couldn't count on me, bringing up a power outage that occurred on the most recent Saturday I missed and the need for leadership coverage. For context, I currently have no associates reporting directly to me.

I understand that communication and coverage matter, and I'm open to feedback if I handled something incorrectly. However, the conversation felt more like an attack on my professionalism than constructive criticism. He even told me this wasn't a high school job or McDonald's. I'm almost 30, have an MBA, and have previous healthcare and operations experience. I found the comments unnecessary and disrespectful.

What makes this situation confusing is that I have good relationships with my fellow Area Managers, Process Assistants, and associates. I've never had a bad experience with them, and when I check in with my L5, who's currently performing a stretch role into L6, about how I'm doing, he hasn't raised significant concerns.

During the conversation with my L7, I explained that I have good relationships with my team and associates, and it felt like he was speaking on behalf of everyone without acknowledging my experience working with them. He essentially insinuated that people tell him things behind my back that they wouldn't necessarily feel comfortable telling me directly. That left me questioning whether there are legitimate performance concerns I haven't been made aware of or whether this is an issue with my relationship with him.

At this point, I don't see myself staying in warehouse operations long term. I have an MBA and would eventually like to transition into a more traditional corporate role, potentially HR operations, HRIS/HR systems, or corporate operations. I'm open to other paths that would make use of my healthcare and operations background as well.

The biggest complication is that I accepted both a relocation bonus and a sign-on bonus, and leaving before the required period would mean paying them back under my agreements. I'm only four months in, so I'm trying to figure out whether I should stick it out or start planning my next move.

For those who have transitioned out of Amazon as Area Managers:

- What types of roles did you move into, and how did you position your Amazon experience on your resume?

- Would you recommend starting to apply now, or staying for a year or longer to gain experience?

My main dilemma is whether I should try to stick it out for a year, gain experience, and avoid repaying my bonuses, or pursue a transition sooner if a better opportunity comes along. I'd appreciate advice from anyone who's been in a similar position.

EDIT: I really appreciate the empathy and helpful advice that you guys have been giving me, however, some of y'all need to lighten up and not get so angry and antagonistic. We don't have to agree, name calling is super unnecessary.

Question Launch Bonus

Do you have to be an L3 before applying for the launch bonus or can you be an L1 and apply for the launch bonus/L3 position? Also any idea why Hayden, CO has a 15k bonus while everything else is 10k?

Question Picking Up Shifts

• Upvotes

I left amazon back in August and I was in stow. Then I came back this month and now I am in ship dock. But I am still able to pick up shifts for stow. So if I do pick up the shift, am I still trained in stow? Or do I have to be retrained in it? But it hasn’t been 90 days yet so I should be able to go in that department and work.

Question Weird flirty vibes from site leader

• Upvotes

I hate being the type of person who thinks men are always being flirty when it might just be their personality but we had a round table due to too many complaints on my area manager and he was there. I sat waiting till everyone left with only me and my coworker and the area manager and the site leader. We were talking about things and the site leader said 'i know I'm not suppose to have favorites but your my favorite" it was like the feeling where ehhh are you flirting or you are just think I'm a good worker and wanna make sure I'm appreciated in that sense. Idk I think im over thinking it but it was definitely a weird vibe. That is something I struggle with at the work place is always feeling like I'm being hit on but at the same time maybe I'm just self centered? I wouldn't say I'm a super good looking person but am I wrong for feeling this way all the time? Maybe tell people you like their work ethics that's fine but sometimes these men be saying some stuff where it's like ehh idk. Am I alone feeling this?

Question WTH is going on?

First SET is canceled, 2 days after no trucks want to show up?(Im on ship dock) 3/4 of pickers gone home past 3 nights of working with VTO(Im back half). Tonight we had overflow on go-carts, all doors open for trucks and I loaded maybe 5 things all night.

I’ve been told multiple times that places can’t take any more packages because there so backed up. I litterly got off work at 5:30am, 20 mins later VTO was given for half of Outbound for a full shift.

And also I’ve been seeing lots of package delays, from family in friends in different states.

Anyone heard anything? Not complaining I’ll take a 3 day week. Just curious

Fulfillment Center PPL complaining

• Upvotes

I don’t understand why so many people complain. I’ve been negative 10 hours of UPT twice. The first time, my brakes broke while I was driving, and I had to call a tow truck. When I received the email, I sent them the paperwork, and they told me over email that it was okay and to just make up the UPT as soon as possible. The second time was because of college. I was almost 11 hours negative, explained the situation, and they told me the same thing.
My A-to-Z always shows that I’m doing exceptional, and I just work normally. I don’t kill myself working. I spend the whole day listening to a movie through my headphones or listening to someone read a book, and the day goes by quickly. There are a lot of benefits, and I’m not saying it’s the best job in the world, but the pay is good. On top of that, you can take months of unpaid leave and get three weeks of paid vacation. I just don’t understand why so many people complain about a job like this.

Question packers: what aggravates you more? rebinners not separating and not pushing up orders? or pushing them so hard they launch out of the wall and onto the floor?

exactly what the title says. what pisses you guys off more? for me personally i think its when they dont separate the orders/push the orders up. my arms are short and almost every time i have to go around the whole wall and grab my entire order myself while they give me dirty looks for going onto their side of the wall (even though if they just did their job properly i wouldnt have to). just wondering if anyone else gets as frustrated about it as i do lmao. (and yes im trained in rebin lmao so i know protocol and im not just talking out of my ass😭)
