Political signs along 75 and Stacy gone
I drove past the Village at Allen along the frontage road, headed toward Stacy and the pilocarpine signs are all gone. Anyone know why?

Avelo Airlines announced two more nonstop destinations from McKinney National Airport: Sarasota/Bradenton and West Palm Beach.
That brings its planned network to 11 destinations, with service beginning November 11.
Avelo also confirmed that advance bookings are exceeding initial projections and that additional routes may be under consideration.
For Allen residents, would McKinney Airport be more convenient than DFW or Love Field?

Hello! My family is relocating from Central Florida to DFW for work. I had the opportunity to visit for a weekend and have narrowed our search down to Plano, Coppell, and Allen.
I’m second-generation Cuban American, my husband is Black, and our elementary-aged son is a beautiful mix of both. We lean more liberal and are fully aware of the political climate in Texas. We’re relocating for work, so I’m hoping for insight into the cities/communities themselves rather than advice to avoid Texas altogether. 😂
I’ve been researching schools and neighborhoods, but demographics and ratings only tell me so much. I’d love to hear from people who actually live here, especially other interracial couples and multiracial families. Do you feel comfortable and welcomed? Have you been able to make friends and find your people?
For parents, what has your kids’ experience been like at school? Have they experienced racist comments or exclusion? If something happened, did the staff take it seriously and handle it well? I’d love to hear positive experiences too. I’m looking for an honest picture, whatever that looks like.
Are there particular neighborhoods or elementary schools you’d recommend? How do Plano, Coppell, and Allen compare in your experience? Are there other areas we should consider with strong schools and a welcoming, family-friendly community?
We’re excited about the move and want somewhere we can put down roots, build friendships, and raise our son feeling comfortable and proud of who he is. Thanks for anything you’re willing to share. 🤗
Feel free to DM me if you’d rather not post publicly!

So, our teen daughter has friends who smoke, including the stuff that is supposedly now even more super-duper-illegal than before or whatever, not only for under-21s. One of her friends is 15 and goes to a smoke shop for whatever he likes. Daughter says smoke shops never card, they just don't care. Also, they supposedly still have all the "good stuff" that they aren't supposed to, as evidenced by the leftover smell in my car when my daughter got back last night. No, girl, open windows and perfume don't help as much as you want them to LOL. That's the real stuff I'm smelling, not the Delta-9 or whatever there's still a loophole for.
And before you make assumptions, yes, yes, daughter used to partake herself (*concerned parent noises*), but has since stopped, either completely or mostly, and definitely when she's driving. She says she knows better than to drive under the influence of any substance.
I have a few questions:
Because reddit is public, I understand that some people might not want to be completely candid in replies. DMs are fine. I promise I'm no narc - it's difficult enough to keep up with our daughter's shenanigans and ensure she stays alive long enough for her prefrontal cortex to develop. *sigh*

Hi, we’re moving to Allen soon and are curious about the cost of infant daycare. We’re looking for a monthly budget of about $1500-$1600 for either full-time or part-time care. I noticed Primrose School or KinderCare at Fountain Park. Do you think these options will fit within our budget? Also, are there any fun activities we can do with our little one? We’re moving near the Village.

For Allen voters following the HD 89 race: Angie Carraway described a student confusing the constitutional amendments with the Ten Commandments during a Fairview campaign appearance.
She wants the display requirement repealed and vouchers ended. The article includes her proposals and context on what the Legislature approved.

A fight with history, a third-period goal and a sellout crowd of 18,532. Roope Hintz gave Stars fans plenty to cheer about Tuesday, but Dallas couldn't get past Colorado.
The postgame comments from both locker rooms shed more light on the fight and what cost Dallas the game.

Hi everyone! Are there any Dallas-area contractors who would be willing to help me get a contractor discount at Sherwin-Williams?
I’m a single mom currently going through a divorce and trying to repaint my home on a budget. I honestly didn’t realize how expensive paint has become! I stopped by Sherwin-Williams today, and one of the employees suggested ordering through a contractor to get better pricing.
I would be incredibly grateful if anyone would be willing to help me out or point me in the right direction. I’m purchasing the paint myself and just hoping to save a little where I can.
Thank you so much in advance! ❤️

I have a broken microwave oven, but the magnetron still runs when it’s plugged in. I know Staples takes some e-waste, but only smaller electronics like routers, phones, and chargers. Is there anywhere I can drop this eyesore off where it won’t end up in a dumpster?

The city manager told council the county decided within the last two months not to join any future tax increment zone. Separately, council approved Plano ISD’s participation, up to $250 million.

Rep. Keresa Richardson has started directly targeting Brittany Black’s past after spending much of the general election barely mentioning her opponent.
Black acknowledges mistakes but argues voters are being shown selected pieces of her life without the years that followed. She also says Richardson’s legislative record, campaign finance, qualifications and policy positions should be part of the same comparison.

Hi, I recently moved to Dallas and looking for best OB-GYN. My insurance had high deductible of $3500.
Would greatly appreciate any suggestions for health care providers best for prenatal care considering affordability.
Thank you in advance!

Rep. Keith Self says voters aren't hearing enough about Republican economic accomplishments. Yet his recent interviews and columns have focused heavily on Sharia, political Islam and the McKinney recall.
His comments about debating Evan Hunt raise another question about how he communicates with voters.

Collin County Commissioners Court Preview — October 12, 2026
Bottom Line (Ironically, at the Top)
We’ve got a $4.36M round of parks grants from the 2023 bond, including $230,000 for Allen’s Molsen Farm. The Court will also renew the county’s animal shelter deals with various cities. Frisco’s renewal comes with a heads-up that it plans to leave after November 2028. Those are consent agenda items. Additionally, the Court will hold a public hearing to clean up a lot that was split and sold before anyone replatted it. Oops. Notable consent spending totals $170,593.68, net of what the cities pay the county for animal services.

Evan Hunt discussed the recall effort following McKinney’s mosque site-plan approval during a campaign event in Fairview. Councilmember Geré Feltus, one of the officials targeted, attended.
The Democrat challenging Keith Self also discussed religious freedom, school funding and health care. Coverage includes Self’s stated rationale for the Sharia Free America Caucus and his recent comments about a debate.

“This is my seat.”
Rep. Keith Self used that language twice when NewsNation asked about Evan Hunt’s debate challenge. Hunt responded afterward that the seat belongs to voters.
Self said a “viable organization” would need to propose a forum but did not explain which groups would qualify. When the interviewer suggested he would participate if invited, Self did not confirm.
For McKinney residents represented by Self, what would you want both candidates to answer in a debate?

Keith Self won by nearly 25 points in 2024, but Evan Hunt predicts their November race will be decided by five points or less.
Hunt discussed his internal polling, the McKinney recall, debates and North Texas infrastructure during a virtual town hall.
What do you make of his prediction?

I'm looking for an executive desk at least 71" wide. I'm not interested in modern or minimalist styles. Traditional or classic designs are what I'm after. Local stores or brands that deliver here would be great. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Hi there! Im visiting Allen for the first time soon and I really need help/guidance with two topics please:
1.- Easiest/Cheapest way to get from the airport Dallas/Fort Worth, to the “Credit Union of Texas Event Center” area. I did some quick research and read about some “DART” trains, which I thought I could use to get near that area and then ask for an Uber or something like that.
I dont know if thats the best option, what do you think?
2.- Best bars and clubs to party and socialize! Id prefer a place close to that area, but i dont mind going back to dallas if needed.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Any good neighborhoods in Allen that have good Halloween lights up? My kiddo loves to go for car rides and look at Halloween displays 😂
