So I’m trying to write an ISOT story for this homebrew federation I’ve got cooked up. Their world uses rimworld lore as the foundations and for the types of humans I it (ISOT is basically “community or country gets sent back in time or to another world” basically isekai but less shit and with a community.
Basically, a small council communist confederation from a rimworld gets sent through time and space to 27th century or 28th century earth. They’ve got industry. They can produce 21st-20th century technology. That is their tech base. “Industrial” technology
Things go like this
“lanet Boise. 2956. Federation of Arkadia. Arkadian commune. Christmas party in the Communal eatery to celebrate the ancient holiday. Christmas crackers (toffee) pastries, smoked meats, and other delightful foods prepared for the holiday are being shared by arkadians within the eatery and just outside of it. The culmination of a year’s worth of trade and harvest are shown here, the fruits of the labor of the workers are always especially sweet.
Christmas party is used to introduce main characters, side characters, council factions, and the settlements of the small federation.
The ring of fire is brushed off as a minor Boisequake, at least until messages from Win'Byersh over the intranet and via couriers in combustion engine vehicles or horseback. Party is ended shortly after, unfortunately.
Instead of being a mouth to the ocean, Win'Byersh’s bay is instead now a large lake, some of their ships are even stuck in the mud. The council is called in little under an hour. Win'Byersh is no longer connected to the ocean, but a large four mile lake. While the river that makes their valley a well, river valley, still connects to the now lake which was once the mouth, it now connects to a second river, forged during the “ring of fire” event. Night falls, and the situation proves to be more severe. The stars aren’t the same. The constellations aren’t familiar. There are no radio signals coming from anywhere BUT Arkadia, and to put a neat bow on this, the two moons of Boise, Kenshi and Nerites, are nowhere in site. Instead, a reflective, grey, barren midsized moon. The relatively fringe theories formed in the hours beforehand after the ring of fire had been confirmed. They were in another place. And not only that. On another planet in its entirety. Thankfully, the atmosphere was still breathable, the sky was still blue. Had they been transported to another world like Boise?
The council remained in session for days more, analyzing their situation. While Arkadia was relatively more well off than other communities might be in this situation due to being in the sticks even for the frontier, they still needed to address their situation.
Without trade from other communities, trading posts and those in orbit, the federation had a year and a half’s worth of raw materials in their warehouses. Electricity and power would not be an issue, as Arkadia had the materials ready on hand to maintain their generators, and fuel would not be an issue at all. The lights would remain on. Water wasn’t an issue either, due to sitting right on top of what was once a brackish river, to what is now a river that is turning increasingly more fresh. Fresh water would not be an issue, neither would food. Every settlement grew a major portion of their food supply on site, meanwhile the rest of their food supply is grown in a large agricultural site managed by every settlement.
A mix of greenhouses and traditional farmland were growing foodstuffs and agricultural goods meant to be exported, albeit they would need to be protected in the days to come.
The federation would be unharmed in the short term, that was for sure. But unlike the megacorps and bourgeois run governments of the core-worlds, the federation focused on long term survival.
Map the stars. Learn the lunar bodies trajectory and its phases. Map the new area. How much of the local environment was transported during the “ring of fire”? What type of world were they transported to? There were many possibilities, but both glitter-worlds and urbworlds were ruled out, due to the lack of radio signals, along with many others. Contact locals, if there are any at all. Are they friendly? Hostile? What technological level are they? Are they willing to trade? Where are the local resource deposits. Is the local area scarce? Resource rich? Do locals sit on deposits?”
What might be tje best places for Arkadia to be transported to in post post apocalyptic North America. And to make things clear, the Frderatiom has a population of about 100k to 150k people, and their local environment is “protected” from being intruded upon by local plants and animals via a climate bubble and such
