Fanfiction/Theorizing What local or regional folklore/belief do you think would be present in AtE?

Seen a wooly bear caterpillar and thought of their folkloric predictions of winter, if that'd be something a sage king might request that the caterpillars be collected to determine if a good or bad winter is coming

Discussion changing deity names

I made my own religion in this mod, how do I change the deity names? From what I can find from online search, I need to go into the code itself to do this, but I don't know how, and the guides are all for vanilla CK3

Suggestion Various Ideas on how By God Alone mechanics could be adapted for AtE!

I've been thinking about this a lot leading up to and after the DLC released. Some ideas I suggest in this post aren't related to adapting By God Alone mechanics, but most are so I didn't feel the need to change the title. I probably spent much more time on this than I should've, but it was fun and I hope it helps the devs with future updates.

Evangelicalism

  • Rites descended from prominent churches involved in the Convention's founding. I'm unfortunately not knowledgeable enough to know which churches in particular could be represented.
  • To reflect the "ecumenical council of bishops" that leads the Convention, Evangelicalism should rely primarily on Ecumenical Councils to alter the faith. This would mean that the Evangelical President would have less personal power to alter teachings, instead relying on their ability to sway the council and leverage the few privileges they have (such as having a discount to calling councils). Perhaps the President could be elevated to a more dominant position via a decision or as a part of a wider situation. If Paradox makes Ecumenical Councils more rare than they are currently, then Evangelicalism should also be able to hold them more frequently than other Christians can.

Mainline Latter-Day Saints

  • A representation of Continuing Revelation. Could be implemented as a Tenet, or maybe a new changeable Doctrine concerning the possibility of future revelation. Either way, the result would be the HoF having greater power to change the faith, as they are considered to be a prophet. This suggestion is made with the assumption Paradox reins in how easy it is to change Rites (though if they don't, the doctrine idea might be preferable).
  • A Quorum of the Twelve Apostles system built off the mechanics of the College of Cardinals. I'm not sure if the CoC's election system (The Powerful/The Pious/The Populist dynamic) is a good representation of how the LDS President is selected, so maybe a more standard election or the generic ecclesiastical succession should be used instead. Regardless of the succession system, the most senior member of the Twelve should get a hefty bonus to being elected President of the Church. The Apostles of the Quorum should have more benefits and ecclesiastical power than Cardinals do. Obviously, the membership of the Quorum should be limited to twelve.
  • A representation of the First and Second Counselor of the First Presidency. I'm not sure what the best way to implement them is. The simplest implementation I could think of is making two court positions that'd work like a mix between Favored Minister and Grand Mentor, where the Counselors would receive sizable benefits and in return buff their liege's stats. Could also be that the LDS President has a unique council, similar to how the Son of Heaven does, and the Counselors are the highest positions in this council.
  • A complete title history for the First Presidency, spanning from Joseph Smith to the current holder in 2666. When it comes to adding early LDS figures, it'd probably be best to do what By God Alone did with the Prophet Muhammad and his companions; creating special Rites/Faiths for them to follow that more accurately reflect their beliefs/role.

Americanists

  • An Electoral College system built off the mechanics of the College of Cardinals. Unlike the CoC and previously proposed Quorum of the Twelve, the electee (the Americanist President) wouldn't be a member of the body that elects them. The only actual power electors would have is electing the President, but they'd get paid well and be involved in political machinations. I'd like the amount of electors to dynamically scale with Americanist dominance, but I don't know how this could be implemented mechanically. My vision is that as Americanism grows and establishes more kingdoms, the amount of electors would increase. So at the start of a game, the Imaginerians in Florida wouldn't have an elector representing them, as they're too insignificant for the Americanists up north to grant them an elector. However, if the Waltneys conquer create the Magic Kingdom and establish Americanism as the dominant religion of Florida, then their northern brethren would almost certainly grant them an elector.
  • A "Campaign" decision to become eligible to be elected President. When taking the decision, you'd pick a "platform" to run on, choosing a Tenet you'll make Core and make promises on what you'll do during your reign (similar to Coronations). Once elected, you'll pick which Core Tenet to replace, or choose to keep things unchanged at the cost of an opinion and legitimacy penalty. If you fail to fulfill your promises, you suffer even heavier penalties. During your campaign, you'd periodically get events that could help or hurt your candidacy. These events would be stuff like campaign rallies and debates against your opposition.
  • A modified version of Papal Bulls for the President, called Executive Orders. Alongside the stuff Papal Bulls can already do, Executive Orders could also do a variety of other things, such as form alliances between Americanist realms and pardon any Americanist in any realm of any crime.
  • A special "Independence Day Celebration" activity available for the President. It'd function similarly to the Californian New Year. It'd be used to reignite Americanist patriotism, which mechanically would mean boosting fervor and granting all adherents of the Faith spiritual fulfillment. I have a lot more to say on this idea, but I need more time to think it out so I'll save it for another time.
  • Many pre-Event Presidents and notable figures would be Canonized. My thought process is that it'll make their graves points of interest and allow Americanists to draw Relics from them.

Harmonious Way

  • The Harmonious Way should be divided into a ton of Rites, each representing particular religious or cultural trends in California. I envision California looking almost entirely homogenous on the Faith level, but when you look at the Rite level the map is a complete mess. Rites would be in a constant power struggle, there'd be Rites gaining and losing popularity, new Rites being created, old Rites dying out only to be revived later. However, if any Rite were to diverge too far, the Eternal Living Guru would brand them servants of Moloch. Mechanically, this'd mean the Harmonious Way permits most Tenets in 2666, allowing a diverse expression of belief so long as you don't mess with Doctrines too much. The prohibited Tenets would be ones that lead to dissent against the empire (like Liberty or Death), ones connected to previous heresies (like Communal Possessions), and ones that blatantly contradict core values of the faith (like Human Sacrifice).
  • Guruism would heavily utilize and adapt the system of Canonization, allowing for the creation of new Gurus. Also, some of the other Guruist Faiths would use different titles. The Aquarian Way would use the term "World Teacher" and the Praxis Way would use "Comrade."
  • An incredibly long list of canonized Gurus. I know Paradox worried about Saint bloat, but since many of the Gurus either aren't buried in the Americas or aren't buried at all, I think it'd be fine to make a more extensive list. I also think some Gurus wouldn't need to be included on this list due to their "ancientness," such as Jesus, Muhammad, Moses, Confucius, Siddhartha Gautama, etc... Meanwhile, I would like to see more "modern" figures, such as Bruce Lee, Walt Disney, and Gandhi included in the list of canonized Gurus. Other Guruist Faiths would have their own list of canonized Gurus, which may or may not overlap with the mainstream. For instance, the Aquarians would recognize L. Ron Hubbard as a World Teacher while the mainstream wouldn't. The Praxis Way is a more extreme example, as they would observe many Comrades the Harmonious Way rejects (such as Karl Marx and Beall Sinclair), while also rejecting several mainstream Gurus (such as Walt Disney and Steve Jobs) for being "of the Machine."
  • A Rite/Faith (maybe multiple?) representing early Guruism under Elton the Lawgiver, before the Harmonious Way was codified and groups like the Aquarians broke away.

Broad and Random Stuff

  • I don't know if this is possible, but some Canonized figures should be venerated across religions. My prime example would be Walt Disney, who to the Imaginerians is Walt the Magician but the Guruists recognize as Guru Disney. I'm amused imagining Americanists and Guruists fighting a holy war over Walt Disney's femur.
  • This is barely a suggestion, more so a request, but I'd like to see some kind of Situation that deals with the political dynamics of the East Coast. I'd particularly like to see content relating to the rivalry between the Americanists and Evangelicals.

Discussion What genres of music would be prevelant in ATE settings?

Ik im biased and that this is very taste specific, but I first think a big one would be guitar solos like those in American Primitivism (love Hayden Pedigo).

Another would be Perico Ripiao, aka merengue tipico, which is something im accustomed to being Domincan American. I think it's instrumentation would be very easy to preserve and it just sounds fun.

What I'd love to see is what people would do with electronic genres. Now, I'm not sure if electronic music would be the most developed depending on the time of the cataclysm, but who's to say that people stopped producing music immediately? Maybe electronic music developed in this setting but was slowly adapted to live instrumentation as power became harder to come by.

Any other ideas?

Discussion How does the Evangelical Convention work? Also how to do redemtionist stuff?

So I was doing an Alabama Evangelical Convention run, when the redemptionist event pops up. I thought it was pretty cool so I tried it out and started work on putting my redemptionist daughter on the throne through war. Long story short i died, and my heir wasnt technically my heir (game over had to pick new character to play as eldest daughter) and couldnt rejoin war. All thats on me though.

What Im curious about is how the elector stuff works? I had a vote again for a while before it was taken away with me. I assumed it was because I was of a different faith, but I was replaced with my sister who was:

1) Also redemptionist

2) Queen of Lousiana and not holding any of the main titles for the empire

3) Currently at war with the Empire still

Also how does vote strength work? The value for powerful elector kept bouncing between +1 and +3 and i dont know why

Also, is there any good redemptionist content or is it just making a bunch of random people in the empire a different faith to cause conflict?

CK3 Conquerors

Why are Conquerors the way they are? It's fine and logical when they conquer what's immediately around them, but I've done a few games in Quebec now and have always ended up with some Conqueror from the former US travelling to what must be near the edge of their diplomatic range to nab a duchy or two. In my most recent one the queen of Illinois vassalized the Duchy of Ottawa, in a previous one the Presidency conquered Sept Rivieres, and in another one a Galvanist queen conquered Esterie. Apart from it being annoying suddenly having a new neighbour with 4000+ man power, it looks bad on the map and doesn't make sense for why they'd choose to take such random duchies so far from their core territories.
