ASUS TUF Gaming F16 FX607VB-RL087WS: can the HDMI 2.1 actually do 4K120 HDR10 10-bit RGB/4:4:4 + VRR?
I am planning to buy ASUS TUF Gaming F16 FX607VB-RL087WS,with:
\- Intel Core 5 210H
\- RTX 3050A Laptop GPU 4GB
\- 16GB RAM
\- 512GB SSD
\- HDMI 2.1
\- USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 with DisplayPort
Asus's official specification says the HDMI 2.1 port FRL supports 8K 60Hz / 4K 120Hz.
My actual goal is to use this laptop as a GeForce NOW Ultimate client connected to my OnePlus Q2 Pro 65-inch 4K 120Hz TV.
I specifically want:
3840×2160 @ 120Hz
HDR10
10-bit or 12-bit
RGB Full / YUV 4:4:4
VRR / G-SYNC
I already know that 4K120 SDR works on other hardware, so my concern is whether this particular Katana can actually maintain 10-bit HDR at 120Hz, rather than dropping to 8-bit SDR.
Questions for asus tuf owners:
Has anyone connected the asus tuf to a 4K120 TV or monitor?
Can you select 3840×2160 @ 120Hz + RGB + 10 bpc + Full in NVIDIA Control Panel?
Does Windows HDR remain enabled at 4K120?
Can you get 4K120 + HDR10 + 10-bit RGB/4:4:4 simultaneously?
Does VRR/G-SYNC work at 4K120?
What exact TV/monitor did you use?
Which HDMI cable did you use?
Did you need to enable Discrete Graphics/MUX mode in Asus Center if this has one, or does it work normally in Hybrid mode if it has one?
In NVIDIA Control Panel → Set PhysX Configuration, is the HDMI display shown as being connected directly to the RTX 3050A?
Does anyone know the actual HDMI signaling/bandwidth of this laptop? Specifically:
\- 24 Gbps FRL?
\- 32 Gbps FRL?
\- 40 Gbps FRL?
\- 48 Gbps FRL?
If HDMI works, has anyone tested the combination with 10-bit RGB + HDR + VRR rather than just 4K120 SDR?
Has anyone used the USB-C DisplayPort output with an active DP-to-HDMI 2.1 adapter and achieved:
4K120 + 10-bit + RGB/4:4:4 + HDR + VRR?
- Are there any BIOS, firmware, NVIDIA driver or Asus Center settings required?
14.Your suggestions for what I explicitly want if u have any?
I'm asking because HDMI 2.1 laptop implementations seem to vary massively. Some laptops advertised as HDMI 2.1 FRL apparently use only 24Gbps, while others have full FRL.
I'd really appreciate screenshots of the NVIDIA Control Panel showing 3840×2160 / 120Hz / RGB / 10 bpc / Full, or actual measurements/results.
Thanks in advance!
