Looking for a mentor/tutor with real production experience in RAG and AI Agents

I already understand the basics of RAG and AI agents, but now I want to move beyond tutorials and build **production-ready RAG pipelines and agentic applications**.

I’m looking for a **senior AI/GenAI engineer or tutor** who has actual production experience with areas like RAG architecture, chunking/retrieval/reranking, vector databases, evaluation, hallucination handling, observability, agent workflows, tool calling, memory, LangGraph/LangChain, deployment, scaling, and production best practices.

I’d prefer someone who can mentor me through **2–3 proper end-to-end projects**, review my architecture/code, explain trade-offs, and show me how these systems are actually built in production.

I have 8+ years of software development experience, mainly in backend systems, so I’m not looking for basic programming classes. I specifically want someone experienced in **production GenAI/RAG/agent systems**.

If anyone here provides this kind of guidance, or can recommend someone good, please DM/comment.

Can vibe coded software actually digitize legacy businesses, or are we just delaying the chaos?

“I have cancelled 4 SaaS subscriptions this year, but not because I built all of them with Claude. Yes, this was a major driver for two of them, as I needed something quite custom for my flow and HubSpot for example was just not good enough and could not be configured. However, two I just vibe-coded myself because I got tired so much of the AI support bot that they offered. If I am going to pay $600 in a subscription I want to talk to a human, not a GPT-4o bot, sorry.”

A founder connection of mine said this recently and I have not stopped thinking about it.

Been watching this pattern for a while now.

Every week a new AI tool. Every month a new way to build software faster. And founders, operators, decision makers are cancelling enterprise subscriptions because they vibe-coded a replacement over a weekend.

13 years in this industry. The build is not the hard part anymore. What comes after is.

Who maintains it six months later? Who owns the security audit? What happens when it breaks in production and the person who built it has moved on?

AI does not come with a support contract.

The real question for any business is not which tool to use. It is who is accountable when the tool is not enough.

But here is what I genuinely want to understand.

Can vibe coded software actually digitize legacy businesses that have been running on spreadsheets and paper for decades? Is this the moment those businesses finally get affordable, custom tooling built for how they actually operate or is the maintenance problem going to catch up with them faster than the efficiency gains?

Has anyone actually seen this work long term for a offline business??

What to learn to become and AI Engineer or an Applied AI Engineer?

Hi all, I was wondering what to learn to become an AI Engineer or an Applied AI Engineer, who build systems around large language models or models in general.

I would be grateful if you can point me towards resources which will help me learn these or provide topic/concept names.

How do you catch ai agent management issues like runaway agents when every individual call looks normal

Had an agent get stuk in a loop making the same API call thousands of times. Each individual call looked completely normal in the logs, valid auth, correct format, expect endpoint and nothing in out monitoring flagged it becauseevery single request was technically fine. The problem was with the pattern, not the individual calls. This feels like a gap in how we think about ai agent management because our tools are built for app traffic not autonomous agents doing weird things.

Not a question! Just looking for connections.

I’m looking for a few people who are interested in contributing to a long-term research project around building deep AI-powered creative technology.

The broader goal is to explore how AI can be combined with software systems to create intelligent tools for areas like animation, graphic design, video editing, illustration, UI/UX, and other creative workflows.

I’m mainly looking for people who enjoy understanding how complete systems work end to end.

You should ideally have a high-level understanding of:

  • Building an end-to-end product: APIs, backend, databases, frontend, AI integration, cloud infrastructure, deployment, etc.
  • Go, Next.js, databases, Git/GitHub, GitHub Actions, APIs and general backend/frontend development.
  • Basic system design concepts such as scalability, caching, queues, databases, services, APIs and infrastructure.
  • AI/ML beyond simply using libraries or APIs.

For AI, you do NOT need to be a mathematics genius.

But you should be curious about questions like:

  • Why does an attention mechanism work?
  • What mathematically happens during backpropagation?
  • How are gradients actually used to update a neural network?
  • How are mathematical ideas converted into working programs?

The expectation is simply that you are willing to understand the mathematics at your own pace instead of treating AI as a complete black box.

This is meant to be a learning + research collaboration.

There are no fixed working hours, deadlines or commitments. You can contribute in your free time, research topics at your own pace, experiment, build things and learn together.

Important disclaimer: This is NOT a paid internship, job, freelance position or employment opportunity. There is currently no compensation involved. Participation is completely voluntary and based on free will.

The idea is to bring together people who genuinely enjoy AI, engineering, systems and deep technical exploration, and slowly research/build something meaningful over time.

If this sounds interesting to you. just reply that you want to join and I'll send you a WhatsApp group link.

Should I pursue a Master’s in Automotive AI in Germany or gain work experience first?

I’m a recent BTech CSE (Data Science) graduate and recently joined Infosys at 3.6 LPA.
I’m interested in AI/ML and have built a few basic ML projects, but I’m still a beginner in AI. My goal is to work in the automotive AI industry, particularly in areas like autonomous driving and intelligent vehicles.
I’m confused between continuing at Infosys, improving my skills, and switching to an AI/ML role after a year or pursuing a Master’s in Germany for Winter 2027 in Automotive AI/Software Engineering.
Most AI/ML jobs I see require 2+ years of experience.
What would you recommend? Is a Master’s worth it for my goals, or should I gain experience and switch jobs first? I’d appreciate advice from people in the industry or studying in Germany.

Experimenting with a new preparation method for changing industry need

I’m experimenting with a different way to prepare for ML Engineer / AI Engineer / Data Scientist roles which will be released as an open source book and a bootcamp. If anyone is interested in joining the pilot, I’ve put the application link in the comments.

The premise: most people already have access to more courses than they can finish. What seems harder is turning that knowledge into evidence that survives an interview — implementation depth, debugging, system thinking, and projects you can actually defend.

I am designing a new Age Professional curriculum for an university, the purpose of the experiment is to get feedback from students and professionals. I’ve designed a 90-day hands-on pilot around:

  • daily focused prep + implementation challenge
  • weekly consolidation
  • every ~4 weeks turning the work into a serious GitHub artifact
  • ML/AI system thinking, debugging and experimentation
  • interview-style explanation of technical decisions
  • a final flagship project

The goal is to finish 90 days with noticeably stronger fundamentals and 3–4 pieces of work you can genuinely discuss and defend.

I’d especially appreciate feedback from both who are experienced candidates and students in college.

What would you absolutely want someone targeting ML Engineer / AI Engineer / Data Scientist roles to be able to demonstrate after 90 days?

There is no fee/no upselling involved.

Which degree is the most AI resistant and have good potential for growth?

So, I have a few options right now, such as a BSc in CS, CSE, or APE(Applied Physics and Electronics). I am leaning towards APE, as I studied Physics at A Level. Nonetheless, I also studied CS at O Level. I am worried that AI will take over most CS-related jobs, making a degree in CS feel like a risky choice at this point. I will most probably go abroad to pursue my Master's degree later, but for now, which degree do you think is more AI-resistant and has better growth potential?
