Art Showcase The Experiment

A Little Experiment in Creature Horror

This piece started as a quick personal project squeezed in between client jobs, but it soon turned into something much more enjoyable than expected and

sculpting the tiny creature fetus was great fun!

Balancing the volumetric absorption of the amber fluid against the glass refraction without losing the silhouette of the sculpt inside is tricky to pull off. Did you use random walk SSS on the specimen tissue to catch that overhead spotlight so softly?

Thank you for your comment!

Yes, I used random walk skin on a low value to make it look organic but not to soft like a gummy bear.

Dialing down the Random Walk SSS weight and radius is definitely the sweet spot there—it keeps all the crisp surface micro-details intact while still giving the thin silhouette edges that subtle fleshy scatter inside the jar. Great execution!
