Hey everyone, hope you're doing well?
The latest deep dive for FM27 is now live, including today's video that looks at uplifts to Training and the new Tactical Effectiveness system. Check it out here or on YouTube; read the blog here; and FAQs will be shared below.
A clearer Training interface requires fewer clicks to create your blueprint, while each of your squads is now more attuned to a specific purpose. Your senior squad will focus on match preparation, building team cohesion and tactical understanding, while your youth teams are development-led.
Tactical Effectiveness measures how well-equipped your team is to execute philosophy as a manager. The system helps you shape everything from training to recruitment, adding another layer to squad building that evolves as your career progresses.
The next deep dive will be a written focus on various other elements of FM27, including improvements to the manager creation, which you see a snippet of at the end of today's video.
Thanks all

Please use this thread as a place to ask questions that are specific to your save, such as:
"Why is my tactic not working?"
"What role should I play this player in?"
"I have £xxm to spend, who should I buy?"
If you are asking for tactical help/advice, please post an image of your formation and what insutructions/roles you have set.
As a rule of thumb, if you ask a question, answer a question. This is what keeps this thread alive and useful.
Also, please remember that the team suggestion thread can be found in the sidebar, so please use that and give your suggestions to people there too!

The TV rights are worth a total of MINUS 2 billion over the next 5 years, I'm aware that this is an overflow error but does this mean that I am now going to have money taken out of my budget every year?

In my current Polish Ekstraklasa save, we're in the year 2030 and are now consistently challenging for the European competition spots.
Over the least two seasons I started to notice a particular team pop up again and again when it came to affordable, available, 5☆PA youngsters – UE Cornellà U19 team, playing in Spain.
I'm not at all arguing I've discovered a secret place to find your next world-beater wonderkid, but... for my current need as an upstart Ekstraklasa side, these players offer an incredible value.
It has gotten to the point that I look to this particular team (and the U19 league they compete in) every transfer window. Like 75% of my B team is now Spanish, with probably 50%+ coming directly from Cornellà U19. I don't know what's going on.
It's not that I don't scout elsewhere, including domestically, but the value to quality proposition of Cornellà players is just way above any other source, and it's not even close.
As a funny lore bonus, I looked up Cornellà on Wikipedia, and discovered that on 16 April 2026, fucking Lionel Messi acquired full ownership of the club. So, now my game world lore is that because Messi took over this club, Cornellà is pumping out incredible talent every single year. Future Messi factory xD. What did SI know in 2023???

FM27 will be here soon, and therefore there will of course also be a bunch of posts with lists of the wonderkids with best CA/PA.
It's perfectly fine that they exist, but couldn't we agree to use spoiler tags, so that you can choose not to see those posts immediately? Especially when those posts include hidden attributes and/or CA/PA.

We went from winning the Carabao Cup to losing every game we play by 3 or more goals at least. We can barely even register a shot on target. I had barely changed a single thing from how I played the game last season, and had an undefeated pre-season. Not even the couple new signings are trying, it's like the entire team forgot how to actually play football. I've worked on a new tactic with my friend, which worked for a single game against Manchester United before going back to the exact same stuff as before the game after.
Literally nothing I change makes any difference whatsoever. Not even the goalkeepers will listen to me, I say to play the ball to CBs or Fullbacks, or anyone on the flank and every single time they shoot a long ball to the striker and lose possession. I have genuinely no idea what to even do at this point.

Just a hate post of getting the one up of a team that becomes your enemy over the season. Valenciennes signed two players that I really wanted then went on to drill me 5-2 and 4-1 because the squad I had was horrendous. Went into January with a ton of free agent signings and swung the season round. Took a narrow 1-0 win over them at home that took us into the promotion places. Would have cupped my ear to their fans at the end of that game Mourinho style.
Their manager got sacked at the end of the season and Carlos Cordero and Muhammed Sanneh can go and eat shit. Won the promotion games vs Pau so moving up to Ligue 2.

Long before FM, I played a CM 99/00 save with Mansfield and wrote it up as a made-up manager's diary, every match lived as if it were real. Opening day was away at Torquay, after a 3am coach. This is what the gaffer wrote that night:
"They battered us. 5-1! 5-1!!! It didn’t look particularly good when they went ahead after 2 minutes, but we steadied the ship and kept it tight up until injury time when they scored another two and we got one back. 3-1 down at half time and I have been up since 3am. No point screaming at them, so I stay calm and make a couple of tweaks. They made all the difference as we only lost the second half 2-0."
FM has the press conference after. Back then you just stared at the screen. What's the worst opening day of any save you've had, on CM or FM?
Full disclosure: I wrote it, as Chris Darwen. It became a book, but there's no link here. I'm just here for the opening-day horror stories.

Messing around with my skin and managed to get all the competition player stats in the competition overview. 16 player comp stats all loaded for every cup and league competition immediately. I know its one click away to view all these normally but i like this better.

Hi everyone,
Do any of you play in “long summary” mode, and if so, does it help you understand or improve your tactics, or do you mostly rely on stats and other data for that?
I always watch in short summary but I was wondering about other players.

I'm a casual FM gamer, I usually play couple of saves every 5-10 years. After the WC I noticed that FM26 Touch was included in my Apple Arcade subscription so figured I'd give it a go with my usual team Peterborough in League One. 12 season later I finally won the PL and lost the CL final to Barcelona.
It was pretty cool to see my captain Sam Taylor lift the trophy. I signed him on a free transfer during the first season and he's been playing regularly and developing in pace with the squad all this time. He's not spectacular but rated "leading premier league", constant performer and the fans like him. There's interest in him from Saudi clubs, but I don't really want to sell although it would probably be a good time to cash in. Should I?
The goal of the save was to win the PL and CL. It's been fun, but I don't know I have the motivation to continue. Maybe I'll give it a few games and see how it goes. 😄
