Weekly Help Thread - Ask your help requests here | Week Commencing 11/10/2026
Please use this thread as a place to ask questions that are specific to your save, such as:
"Why is my tactic not working?"
"What role should I play this player in?"
"I have £xxm to spend, who should I buy?"
If you are asking for tactical help/advice, please post an image of your formation and what insutructions/roles you have set.
As a rule of thumb, if you ask a question, answer a question. This is what keeps this thread alive and useful.
Also, please remember that the team suggestion thread can be found in the sidebar, so please use that and give your suggestions to people there too!

Any advice for getting a 4-2-3-1 working consistently? My team dominates possession but creates very few clear chances, especially against deep defensive blocks.

It's an extremely broad question, because that can take so many forms. I think there is a tendency to lack consistent goalscoring if the striker isn't amazing. But there are so many ways to play this it's hard to tell.

On the face of it, it looks very sensible. Personally I really like the DLP(d), BBM, CA(a) combo. In my experience it requires a good striker and dlp. Anything specific that made you ask for advice?

As with any lone striker formation, make sure that your striker is not only a great goalscorer, but also a strong aerial threat.

How exactly do you beat Bayern Munich? I'm in 2039 in the Bundesliga and they have won every season. If I start a season and draw or lose a few matches I already know I'm playing for 2nd. They've had multiple invincible seasons. This game is so extremely demoralizing sometimes.

I have some experience with this as I'm 2036 in the Bundesliga with Shalke and we have endured our fair share of Bayern suffering over the years.
In the first couple seasons in the Bundesliga, you can't expect to compete really, just focus on qualifying for UCL and getting that gravy train rolling in.
After you've secured your income source you can shift focus to challenging Bayern for the title. This sounds intimidating but Bayern have a couple of weaknesses.
Firstly they have a lot of high reputation players. This sounds good in theory, but after some years they continue to play their high rep ageing players rather than developing their young talent. You can take advantage of this because old players get slower over time, meanwhile you can be hoovering up all the fastest exciting young players to absolutely pace-abuse them. Don't give up, over time you WILL out-transfer the AI. They are idiotic, you are smart. After some time you will definitely have a stronger squad because the AI sucks at squad building. Even if all you do is "only buy players with 15P/15A", you'll quickly produce a squad that's weaker on paper but stronger in practice.
Next, they play positive football. This (obviously) is good for scoring goals but it also means they are open at the back. Never make the mistake of inviting their pressure by playing a low block. Even playing very defensive, assume that they'll score eventually. You want to play a fast attacking style of football to capitalise on their space in behind. Better to win 3-2 than lose 0-1. I'll typically use an attacking, higher tempo 4231 or 424 formation. The only exception is when I'm narrowly winning away, I'll switch down to a balanced mentality to see out the rest of the game.
It goes without saying, but try to win every other game as well! It's all well and good managing to beat Bayern at home and draw away, but if you then drop points elsewhere you'll obviously struggle to win the title. In my experience, you'll also want to start your strongest XI against Leipzig and Dortmund. Other than that you should have no issues with the rest of the clubs as long as you have a good squad and good tactic.
Once you've won the first title, the rest should be easy. Just keep improving your squad year-on-year, try to do well in the UCL to earn some extra money and you'll do well. I don't worry too much about other cups and tend to just use them to develop youth players, but if you do somehow end up with an open run to the final then take it!
Let me know if you have any more questions about managing in the Bundesliga, Shalke is my favourite ever FM save so I'm excited to talk about it haha

Oop the roles that I find work best is a very simple 4141. No tracking or pressing roles, just vanilla defense. My teams are usually very good defensively with this setup.

Two questions 1. What should I look for in WB Regen? Since none of them cannot cross
- Is the only way to improve your coaches through coaching courses? Do their Big 3 attributes increase?
1
u/Tweedledee72 2d ago
For 1, I often end up retraining wingers to WB. I look for speed, technical ability, and some defensive skill. They don't need to be great on defense but if their positioning/tackling is at least 7 or so as a youngster, they're probably going to be fine.

u/leung19 2d ago
How high is their positioning and tackling end up for you?

u/Tweedledee72 1d ago edited 1d ago
Depends on the player (and what level I'm playing at) but if I can get it up to about 9 or 10 I'll consider them playable. At lower levels I'll allow as low as 5 or 6 if the other skills are good.

Pace and Acceleration obviously #1 most important, jumping reach a big plus but not necessary, Work rate 10+ required, Other than that you'll really be splitting hairs, so any other desired attributes but dribbling, agility and stamina aren't bad to look out for.
Yeah coaching courses only.

How are your player forms and do you have any other tactics you like? Sometimes when my side goes through a down period I’ll change the tactic for a match or half a match and I get a quick result then go back to my preferred tactic. Or if I’m struggling I’ll play only my most in form players for a couple of matches for a result and get everyone playing better

I’m stumped on La Liga salary rules in FM24. I’m at Atletico and my salary hasn’t moved at all. I’m basically capped by either having to sell all my good players to retain my youngsters who want improved deals or sell off all my young players. I like the challenge but it’s annoying Barcelona and Real can spend £7M/w in wages and myself, Sevilla, Villarreal are all at £2.5M.
I also like to use the editor to make other clubs better so I’ve been enhancing the finances across other clubs throughout Europe. My issue in Spain is those clubs still can’t spend anything on wages so it’s not really helping. Any fixes to make the league generally more competitive across clubs?

Yeah it's completely busted, main reason I don't manage in Spain.
There's a well-known exploit to abuse the salary cap - the day before the season ticks over, you dump all your available transfer budget into your wage budget. The game then uses that to calculate the next season's salary cap, which gives you an artificially high cap. The following day, you adjust your wage budget back down to normal levels.
I haven't done it myself as I don't have the editor, but I understand the cap can be removed via "Advanced Rules". From a brief google the process is apparently: Rules > Add Nation Rule > Convert to Advanced Rules but I can't check this I'm afraid.
There's also salary cap fixes on the Steam Workshop for certain clubs, not sure if there's a general one for all clubs or if you will need a Atleti specific one.

So I can try the wage on on my club side I appreciate that! I do have the in game editor not pre game so not sure if I can edit that type of rule now. I think my only other issue is how to fix the cap for other clubs managed in the game if I can’t use the editor (let Mallorca or someone spend more)

What mods / editor data are compatible daveincid's?
1
u/HoneyPancake99 None 1d ago
I use daveincid's increase realism FM24 pack, any graphical mods will be compatible e.g. skins, player faces, etc. You can also use an editor file for transfers. I wouldn't use any other editor files as it might cause a database conflict.

One of my players work permit expired without any notice. So I reapplied and it was successful. Come next game and it says he doesn’t have a work permit, so I once again apply and it’s successful. However, it’s still coming up that the player doesn’t have a work permit. Means I can’t play him and for some reason can’t get a work permit through.
I haven’t seen this posted elsewhere. Other glitches seem to relate to rejected permits but these were successful.
Anyone had this and know a fix?

Question for console players using keyboard and mouse. I went back to FM26 after not playing basically since launch. Started playing with using a mouse but noticed that when I play with the mouse the pointer is so small it’s barely visible on screen. Any one else had that issue and been able to fix? When I switch to controller the pointer returns to standard size. Not had the same issue on other FM games just 26. Playing on Xbox.
