Hello there, Myself and u/RonMatten have been selected by Reddit to be the new moderators for r/Yonkers and are looking forward to establishing it as a real online community option for Yonkers residents, workers, and visitors.
That being said, we are looking forward to suggestions from regulars here on how to improve the Subreddit and what would make you use it more.
We already are retooling the auto-moderator to filter out spam and are establishing some basic rules as we work on a broader rule-set going forward. As we work with you and each other on this, the current basic rules are
1) Be Kind & Decent
2) Yonkers News / Politics only. If it doesn't directly reference Yonkers or involve a Yonkers politician then it doesn't belong here.
3) It's the Tappen Zee Bridge, any other name is a ban. (Stolen from r/Westchester)
4) No commercial POST activity, If a user is requesting recommendations that is fine and you can name drop yourself in the comments.

Just bought a house in Yonkers and wanted to know if anyone can recommend a home owner's insurance company that they are pleased with. I'm reading that Amica is highly rated but I'd like to hear from real world Westchester customers. Thanks in advance.

Saw this flyer for NUG Yonkers' 2-year anniversary on instagram. looks like its happening Saturday, October 24th.
Looks like they'll have goodie bags for the first 50 people in line, food vendors, brand pop-ups from Sluggers, Claybourne, STIIIZY, Jeeter, TURN, and a few others.

We are looking to move to Yonkers, right next to the Yonkers Metro-North station.
We work in the Financial District. What’s the commute like? I see what it is on Google Maps, but what’s the real-person’s view on timing?

Hello, I’m a college student majoring in urban studies, and I’m currently doing a project about the history and future developments on The Plant.
I’ve attempted to contact the Lela Goren group, BIG (the architecture firm involved), and a few other outlets, to no avail. Does anyone have suggestions of people I should reach out to who are likely to respond?
Also, if you have any information on the current status of the construction, please reach out to me or comment below!

Hi, I’m working as a part-time pet sitter and I am currently looking for new clients. With my work schedule right now, I only have time during the week after 4pm but I am always pretty much free on the weekends from 6am-10pm. The weekdays could change too because I have some days off since I work in a school so I will definitely keep you posted on that. I have over 10 years of experience working with animals since I volunteered at an animal shelter before the start of junior high up until I graduated high school. I am a 24 y/o woman and I am based in Yonkers so please feel free to reach out if you are interested! I can care for small to medium sized dogs and cats.

Figured I’d post this because I learned it the hard way today and I’m sure I’m not the only person in Yonkers who had no clue.
Got a ticket this morning because apparently my vehicle registration was suspended. I was completely confused. License is valid, registration isn’t expired, insurance is good… WTF?
After spending half the day on the phone, turns out it was from unpaid Yonkers parking tickets. Apparently if they sit unresolved long enough, Yonkers can have NYS DMV suspend the registration on your car.
Here’s what really got me. Mine has apparently been suspended since August and I had absolutely no idea. MyDMV just says “SUSPENDED” without telling you why. I searched my plate on the Yonkers parking ticket website and it literally said “No records found.”
So naturally I thought, okay, definitely not parking tickets.
Wrong 😂
I called the Parking Violations Bureau and they told me once your registration gets suspended, you can’t pay the tickets online or over the phone anymore, so they basically stop showing up through the normal online system.
What I don’t understand is I’ve lived in Yonkers for 30 years. If you forgot about a ticket, eventually you got a notice in the mail. I’ve never consciously just refused to pay a ticket. If I didn’t pay one, I genuinely forgot about it. That’s what the damn notices are for.
So how did I go from forgetting about some parking tickets to my registration being suspended for over a month without me knowing?
I’m still trying to figure out what notices were supposedly sent and where, but the whole thing feels pretty sus. You want your money? Send me the fucking letter and I’ll pay it. 😂
Instead, I found out from getting another ticket for driving a car I didn’t even know was suspended.
Just a PSA to my fellow Yonkers people: if there’s any chance you forgot about a parking ticket, don’t trust the online search saying “No records found.”
Call PVB and check.
30 years living here and today I learned. 🤦♂️

I researched Crown Coins Casino free SC to understand how promotional Sweeps Coins may be obtained without confusing them with standard play currency or guaranteed cash.
The platform states that no purchase is necessary, but that does not mean every visitor automatically receives an unlimited SC balance. Free promotional opportunities can have eligibility, timing, submission, play, and redemption requirements.
My review covered:
I avoided quoting a fixed free SC amount because promotions can change. The most accurate information is the offer currently shown in the account or described in the official sweepstakes rules.
SC is promotional sweepstakes currency. It is different from the standard currency used primarily for social play.
A free SC balance should not be described as an immediate cash payment. The current rules can require eligible gameplay before promotional currency becomes available for prize redemption.
I always check which balance is selected before opening a game. Using standard play currency does not normally produce the same sweepstakes function as playing with SC.
New accounts may see a registration or welcome reward, but the amount and format can vary. Email verification or another qualifying step may be required before the reward appears.
Recurring login promotions can also change over time. Missing one day, changing devices, or returning after a long break may affect what appears in the account.
I would rely on the dashboard rather than an old screenshot from another player. If a reward is not displayed, I would not assume it will be credited later.
The official platform states that no purchase is necessary. Players interested in free participation should read the sweepstakes policy carefully and follow its current instructions.
No-purchase methods can involve precise eligibility and submission requirements. A request may not qualify if information is missing, the format is incorrect, or the participant is in a restricted location.
I would keep a personal record of any submission but avoid sending identity or financial information through unofficial channels.
Official social channels may occasionally announce promotions, contests, or limited events. Before participating, I would verify that the account belongs to the genuine platform.
Impersonation accounts are a concern whenever promotional currency is involved. A legitimate giveaway should not require a password, one-time code, remote access to a device, or payment to release a reward.
I would access the account independently instead of using a login link sent through a direct message.
Before starting, I would confirm which games are available for SC play and whether contribution rules differ between titles.
The amount selected for each play should remain visible. It is easy to move through a promotional balance quickly when the play value increases automatically after switching games.
Free SC still deserves a session limit. The goal should be entertainment, not trying to convert every promotional reward into a guaranteed prize.
A promotional SC balance may need to meet the applicable play conditions before it becomes redeemable. Minimum redemption amounts and verification can also apply.
Identity, age, address, and location details may be checked. I would make sure the account information is accurate before requesting a prize.
Processing time can vary based on the account review and chosen method, so I would not describe free SC as instant money.
A free promotion may be displayed beside paid coin packages, but players should not feel required to purchase because they received SC.
I would treat every package as a separate spending decision. A discount or extra promotional amount does not make a purchase financially necessary.
If the original goal was to participate for free, sticking to that plan is a reasonable choice.
My Crown Coins Casino free SC comparison found several areas players should understand: currency type, promotion source, play requirements, eligibility, verification, and redemption thresholds.
The safest approach is to use only official account offers and methods described in the current sweepstakes rules. Free SC should be treated as promotional play, not guaranteed income.
Responsible gambling reminder: Free promotional currency can still encourage extended play or later purchases. Set a time limit, keep purchases optional, and stop when the session is no longer enjoyable.

I researched the Crown Coins Casino promo code process to separate genuine account offers from expired codes and unsupported claims posted on coupon pages.
I could not confirm that one permanent public code applies to every player. Promotions can be built into a registration link, displayed inside an account, sent through an official campaign, or limited to particular users and dates.
I used a simple verification process:
A code should produce a visible change before a purchase is confirmed. If the package remains identical, I would not assume the promotion will be added manually later.
Current offers may appear on the official homepage, registration flow, account dashboard, purchase screen, app, email, or verified social channels.
Some promotions do not require a typed code. The offer may be attached automatically through an eligible campaign or shown directly in the account.
This is why copying random code strings from search results can be ineffective. The promotion may have expired, may belong to another account segment, or may require a specific entry route.
I would only enter a code through the official registration or purchase interface. A third-party page should never request an account password, one-time security code, identity document, or direct payment.
Before confirming a purchase, I would compare the ordinary package with the promotional package. The screen should clearly show the total price and the amount of each currency being credited.
If the benefit is not visible, I would pause and ask support whether the code is active and whether the account qualifies.
A promotion can award standard play currency, promotional SC, or a combination. A large number of standard coins should not be interpreted as an equivalent cash value.
SC may be used under the current sweepstakes rules and can have play and redemption requirements. Players should verify which balance the code adds rather than judging an offer by its largest number.
I would also check whether the promotion changes any expiration or eligibility conditions.
A new-user promotion may only work before registration, email verification, or the first eligible purchase. Entering an offer after completing those steps may be too late.
Existing-player offers can operate differently. They may appear as temporary account packages, email campaigns, loyalty rewards, or event-based promotions.
I would not create multiple accounts to claim another welcome offer. That may conflict with platform rules and can create verification or redemption problems.
Reddit can be useful for finding out that a promotion exists, but it is not a substitute for checking the current terms.
A code that worked for one person may not be available to another account. Posts can also remain indexed long after a campaign ends.
I would treat social posts as leads to investigate, not proof that a reward is active. The checkout screen and official terms should make the final decision.
First, I would check spelling, capitalization, spacing, expiration, location requirements, and whether the account has already completed the qualifying action.
If the code still fails, I would contact support before making a purchase. The message should include the code, where it was found, the expected offer, and a screenshot without exposing sensitive account information.
I would not repeatedly attempt payment or open another account to force the offer.
Using a promo code does not remove the normal sweepstakes rules. Promotional SC may still need to satisfy play, verification, and minimum-redemption requirements.
The reward should therefore be evaluated as part of the complete account process, not as free cash.
My Crown Coins Casino promo code research found that account-displayed and officially confirmed promotions are more reliable than universal-code lists.
I would only proceed when the final screen clearly shows the expected currencies and price. If the offer cannot be confirmed, skipping it is better than purchasing based on an assumption.
Responsible gambling reminder: Promotional urgency should not influence your budget. Skip any offer that encourages you to spend more than you originally planned.
