Official Update X4 Pro made TIME's Best Inventions of 2026! ❤️

Hi everyone, Henry here!

I have some exciting news to share with you. Our X4 Pro has been named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2026! 🎉

This is a really special moment for our team. Seeing our little pocket eReader recognized by TIME means a lot to us, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who's supported us along the way.

But I also want to take this opportunity to be honest with you.

We know we still have a long way to go.

Some of you have experienced slow customer support, frustrating shipping delays, difficulties with after-sales service, or product quality issues. We know there are many things we haven't done well enough, and I'm genuinely sorry to those of you who've had disappointing experiences with us.

I'm someone who tends to take things to heart. When I read your posts and messages, I often find myself putting myself in your shoes. Knowing that some of you have felt disappointed, angry, or even helpless because of your experiences with us genuinely weighs on me.

I wish none of you had to go through that. But I also know that feeling sorry isn't enough. What matters is what we actually do to make things right.

We're already working on improvements to customer support, after-sales service, shipping, and quality control. We're aiming to make meaningful progress this month, and we'll share an update by the end of October on what's changed and what still needs work.

I also want to thank this community in particular. Not just for your support and encouragement, but also for your honest feedback, criticism, and patience. You've helped us see things we might otherwise have missed.

We're proud of this milestone, but we know that earning your trust matters far more than any award.

I truly believe that trust isn't something we can earn just by saying the right things. It's built through our actions, honest communication, and consistently doing better over time.

We still have a lot to prove, and I hope our actions in the coming weeks will speak for themselves.

Thank you all, truly. ❤️

DIY I made MangaPoint, a free, open-source app that makes reading manga on E Ink readers easier!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently got an Xteink X4 Pro and wanted to read manga and manhwa on it, but it took a while to find where to download from and how to convert it and I couldn't find any other online tool that can solve my problem.

So.... I built MangaPoint, an app that makes the entire process much simpler.

Here's how it works:

  1. Find your manga — Search multiple sources in one place and download individual chapters or an entire series.
  2. Make it fit your reader — Choose your e-reader and MangaPoint automatically adjusts the pages for its screen. You can also change cropping, contrast, and image quality yourself.
  3. Preview the result — Compare the original pages with the converted version before exporting.
  4. Export and transfer — Combine chapters into a single file with chapter navigation, then send it to your reader through Wi-Fi, USB, or an SD card.

It supports Xteink, Kindle, Kobo, BOOX, and other e-readers, so you don't need a different conversion tool for each device.

It's completely free and open-source, works on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and everything runs locally on your computer.

GitHub: https://github.com/W1seGit/MangaPoint

Download: https://github.com/W1seGit/MangaPoint/releases/latest

I've mainly tested it with Xteink devices, so I'd especially appreciate feedback from people using other e-readers.

I'd love to hear what you think or what features you'd like to see added!

Discussion Crosspoint's Indic languages support is now available for beta testing

According to the PR description, it supports 10 Indic scripts: Devanagari, Bengali, Gurmukhi, Gujarati, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Sinhala. Please make sure to install a font (in TTF if you have X4 Classic or X4 Pro, in cpfont otherwise) for your language when you try it, otherwise you'll only see question marks

This arrived in gurgaon within 13 days!

My earlier order took nearly a month and got stuck at delhi customs, so xteink refunded the amount and i immediately ordered another one.

But man, this thing is just so thin and small and the readability is surprisingly good too. I'm just so happy with it I haven't picked up my kobo since this arrived.

The ordinary days count, too. 🍂

It's easy to spend the whole week waiting for Friday.
Meanwhile, there are little moments like this happening on perfectly ordinary days.
A walk, a few pages, a little time to yourself. Pretty good, if you ask me.

X3 "Why can't you just read on your phone"?

Post image
252 Upvotes

Shown my x3 to a friend who spends most of his time in front on the screen in the completely dark room(one of those AI needs). told him there's no backlight, no touchscreen, and that the only thing you can do with it is read book. Got back 'why don't you read on your phone' and then he proceeded with that it's just not rational, a separate device for 0.0001 functionality, that I don't buy separate keys but the whole keyboard(he's in for surprise lol) etc...

I guess we're all different, and maybe he's even completely right from the point of view of formal logic, but I don't care, life is not only about being functional and rational, sometimes you just ENJOY doing something. I don't even feel like I'm using technology when I sit on the balcony with the e-book and warm yellow lamp illuminating it, it just feels analog and cozy. Even when I had kindle Paperwhite it still felt like reading on the tablet because of the touchscreen and built-in light. I've realized i hate touchscreens on e-readers, I want to hold it like I would hold a real book, by the page.

To me, the next perfect device would be a foldable double page e-book reader haha, preferably with flexible screens. TOTALLY, utterly irrational, but I'd definitely buy one)

Troubleshooting Unable to revert X4 Pro back to stock firmware

Greetings.

I recently bought my X4 pro in China since I live here.

For experimental purposes, I flashed crosspoint via the unlocker tool. Originally, I had hoped to find a CJK supporting fork to then flash onto the device for Chinese books. In the end I decided to revert back to the stock firmware.

However, I’ve realised that I am unable to connect to the pc with the usb connector (serial port not detected) and can no longer install the stock again. What can I do to fix this?

Discussion [Giveaway] Win an Xteink device

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hey everyone 👋

Back in March, I've done a giveaway for a X3 when it was sold-out. Now, we (the readmeclub crew) are giving away four Xteink e-readers. And if you have a member account, you already are in! If you are not a member yet, come, it's free 😊

No Xteink yet and just lurking? That's the point. Everyone can play, whatever e-reader you use, or none at all. It could be for you, a friend, your loved ones...

So here's the rule: every verified member is in the draw. More than 16,000 of you already are. If you signed up last year and haven't logged in since, your account still counts. But, please, come back. Then, the more you give, the more chances you get. As simple as that.

Good luck to everyone, I hope you'll like this giveaway as much as I liked to organise it!

To be completely transparent: the four devices are provided by Xteink. The rules, the draw and everything you read on the website are ours.

Discussion I’m looking for feedback on my EPUB reader

Hi! I’m developing Quire, an e-book reader for iPhone, iPad and Duo It supports custom reading styles, hyphenation, notes, and text-to-speech. I’d love feedback from fellow readers: What features do you look for in an e-reader, and what could I improve?

X4 Pro Great companion ereader

Post image
27 Upvotes

My main ereader is my Pocketbook Verse Pro Color. It’s portable and light enough but with a case + pouch for protection, it became heavier and bulky. Ever since I got the X4 Pro, I’m happy that I can leave my Pocketbook at home because the Xteink is so much lighter and so much more compact. It’s also my first ever experience with a b/w e-ink screen ereader and first experience with a flush screen. Great experience for both. Here’s to wishing xteink will come out with an X4 Pro Color in the future 🎉 (for those of us who like to see our covers in color 😁)

Discussion What firmware are you using?

I just got my Xteink x4 pro over the weekend and I’ve tried crossink but it feels slow and laggy that’s why I switched back to licorice. Now, I’m missing the bionic reading option and especially edge screen functions.

How about you, what firmware are you using and why? How is it different from licorice from your experience. Or my why are you still using licorice?

Question Clamshell cases?

If these devices flex a bit more than is preferable, and some people find that front pocket carry can lead to some flexing... I'm interested in finding the lightest, thinnest clamshell type case that would work for front pocket. I'm think something that looks like a cigarette case, but maybe 3d printed with lighter materials. I've seen flip cases, but I want ALL sides covered and something that snaps shut (or definitely stays shut). So what is the thinnest, lightest option that would prevent flexing?

Edit: I'm thinking about a carrying case, not one that I'd leave on the device as I read.

X4 Pro A Week with the X4 Pro

Thumbnail

My x4pro came directly from XTeink a week ago, and it's been such fun to use!

My last time buying an ereader was in 2016 (Kindle Touch), which has been sufficient for my needs except for being too heavy to hold for long, and not having a built-in light. When it recently became unsupported by Amazon, I started paying attention to the news about the xteink readers.

I guess this was the right time to jump in, as I didn't go through any of the other firmware, but decided to stay with the stock Licorice. Last night I updated to the 261013 version, and just now updated again to the latest 261014 after taking these photos. The reading stats are a super upgrade, and there have been so many improvements to Licorice even in the week since I started!

I used the auto-page turning function for a bit, but it isn't perfect for me since it is based on time per page rather than wpm (word per minute), so I found a couple of bt remotes to try out. The white remote works fine, and the extra key for exiting to main menu is nice, but I found the key clicks to be a bit loud, and the height of the keys to be a bit too tall for comfort. I wasn't sure the black remote would work as it was listed for the x3 and x4 only, but it works perfectly with the x4pro. While the length is about 1cm longer than the white remote (counting the white lanyard loop), its height is about .7cm shorter, making it much easier to hold and press. Even if it did not have the quieter key pressing, it would still be my preference. The updated firmware now automatically reconnects the bt remote.

I've been recharging daily because I've been mostly keeping the light on (level between 5% to 9%) and my battery level drops down to about 30% every day.

A huge thank you to this and the other xteink reader communities for all the information... getting set up and reading was simple and fairly straight-forward.

Question X3 ereader: India - customs concerns

Hello everyone!

I am based in Kolkata, India and I wish to purchase an X3 from the official xteink website. My worry is about Indian customs. How does it work out? (i) Do I have to send through copy of my AADHAAR card and/or PAN card through to the delivery personnel or India customs? (ii) I have come across instances where there was additional customs duty levied on packages to West Bengal and Kolkata - is there any first hand experience someone can share?

Durga Puja and Dussehra greetings.

X4 Pro Deleting incomplete catalog URLs

Related to my last post where I was unable to find the forward slashes in the keyboard (yeah, stoopid me)… I have an incomplete URL In my catalog list. How can I delete it, or alternatively in a future update, could there please be a way to do this (eg by selecting the offending article and choosing “delete”)?
