TWOW options

whatsup guys, is it still octo capy raven? whats the state of these servers, any fresh coming? Any devs with vision to continue twows work?

I'll throw in my vote for Octo, closest you'll get rn i think. And hopefully will stay lowkey enough to stay up for some time. Pretty active as well 1-3k online, only Issues ive seen is DDOS and login servers unavailable at times.

Yes, but the servers rarely go down anymore, after the new hardware upgrade in late September. I only encountered one server crash since then, playing on peak EU hours.

Some people have problems with logging in due to the anti-ddos measures, and their local providers blocking their access.

They said they were figuring out how to compensate more than a pet for all the users impacted.

I don’t care about it, but kestrel said it about a month and a half ago. Was just curious, chill.

It’s true. No one asked for it. I think it’s generous. Maybe a couple hundred donation points. Turtle did that a few times. It’s nice for those who have donated and can’t play

The servers themselves never go down anymore, sometimes their login servers do though.

Recently I their launcher however they implemented a priority login feature that kinda gets you whitelisted and in guaranteed.

On paper yes, but actually, since a sort of "whitelist" opened, you won't really feel it even if the attack happens. Maybe some lag, or the occasional DC, otherwise, you won't have problems like madly trying to login all day and in your anger, you spampost the caged gnome on discord.

Octo has been and still is a great option. Super happy with it, personally, and haven’t had any problems.

Octo. Ever since they implemented “priority login,” whatever that is, I’ve been able login straight without VPN.

Octo has eu time 2000-3000 pop, i didnt try the others but for me its like i reset progress from ambershire, 70% of my ambershire members rolled again, and we fill the rest from recruits, back with 2 raiding group already, just waiting for bwl, es to release.

I play with them a lot, we have a really great translator plus a large group of US and EU players. If interested look up zug zug guild if you make it online.

If you play late at night, ymmv on Octo. I play between 10pm-6am EST typically and see 50-120 online max, the world feels very quiet. I'll see dungeon groups looking in chat for 45mins-2hrs before they get filled or just logout. Haven't tried the others yet.

Raven or Capy are the only options if you want the pure 1.18 experience. OctoNerf has veered off into something quite a bit more try-hardish, it's more like 1.17b and a .08x vanilla.

Don't forget LunaticPTR as well. It's a Level One Lunatic continuation. It's a Turtle Project as well. The Out of Bounds Radio Team hosts events on it as well and it has an active raiding community. 40 Man Gnomeregan with Sets. The same people who designed the Lunatic Items in Deadmines and Frostmane Hollow are working on it. It has active development with weekly updates and a Phase 2 planned.

My guess is because it's... let's say "iffy" whether or not it contributes to discussion.

The vast majority of people looking for a private server are not looking to stay level 1 and complete insanely difficult and long challenges.

Some are for sure, so I wouldn't (and didn't) downvote the mention, but yeah it's not really a TWoW option; it's a tiny subset of TWoW, like an instant-60 PvP server.

It's not at all like a Instant 60 PvP Server and it deserves to be in the discussion. The Out of Bounds Radio team has done over 4 Shows on LunaticPTR and it has active PvE Development. It has 10 Mans and 40 Man Gnomeregan and Gear Progression and Raid Sets. The same people who designed items that drop in Deadmines and Frostmane Hollow are leading this project. It doesn't accept donations and has had consistent updates. Release Repack available for other Turtle Projects to adopt Lunatic Item Progression. It's a very respectable project.

Wait I'm confused, isn't the Lunatic mode level 1 only? How on earth do you stay level 1 yet have gear progression and raid sets?

And I'm not saying it's not respectable; that sounds like a huge project that people are clearly very passionate about. I just don't think it's fully representative of TWoW. It's a "game mode" that came out of TWoW, sure, but OP asked for "TWOW options" not "other projects that came out of TWOW".

It's like if someone was asking about games like Warcraft 3; I wouldn't point them to Dota (or any other custom map specifically) because it came out of WC3, even though both games are huge and lots of fun in their own right.
