The biggest reason came from Trump’s former chief strategist when he said:

“The Democrats don't matter. The real opposition is the media. And the way to deal with them is to flood the zone with shit.”

That strategy wasn't really to persuade the public, but to overwhelm the media and political opposition with so much information, controversy, and chaos that they couldn't effectively respond.

And it’s been brilliantly effective. By the time people organize an ICE protest, Trump has moved on to abducting Venezuela’s president, bombing Iran, or some new outrage. All while massively enriching himself. It’s Bannon’s “flood the zone with shit” strategy in action. How do you sustain public outrage when nobody can even keep track of what we’re supposed to be protesting?

Bannon will be studied for years. He is Trump Goebbels, the one that allows a person like Trump to thrive. Flood the zone with sht and muzzle velocity are the most effective strategy for lying, unethical people in the modern social media landscape. There's a special place in hell for him.

He just copied a bunch of Russian shit. Adam Curtis made a documentary about this Soviet strategy and the connection between Trump and Russia shortly before Trump's first election in his documentary HyperNormalization.

Wikipedia article on the movie describes the term that it is named after as having this origin:

The word hypernormalisation was coined by Alexei Yurchak, a professor of anthropology who was born in Leningrad and later went to teach at the University of California, Berkeley. He introduced the word in his book Everything Was Forever, Until It Was No More: The Last Soviet Generation (2006), which describes paradoxes of Soviet life during the 1970s and 1980s.\3])\4]) He says everyone in the Soviet Union knew the system was failing, but no one could imagine any alternative to the status quo, and politicians and citizens alike were resigned to maintaining the pretense of a functioning society.\5]) Over time, the mass delusion became a self-fulfilling prophecy, with everyone accepting it as the new norm rather than pretend, an effect Yurchak termed hypernormalisation.\6]) It has since gained further resonance in the social media era in 2025 in the U.S.

I will never understand how constant frivolous and scandalous actions of a president don't lead to an immediate and massive failure of that party in the next election and why impeachment has become toothless.

People don't make purely rational decisions, and while it is practically a trope to say "people have short memories", but when you scratch beneath the surface of that simple statement what it means is that there is a narrow window of lived experience that people use when making decisions and people who want to win campaigns have figured out how to exploit that.

Yeah, but flooding the zone with shit means you get reminded every fukking day of how evil, criminal and deranged these people are. Trump term one was a nightmare already and his second term is a constant dictatorial mental hell with permanent shit flinging drowning the US in sewage and abandoning everything the US ever stood for, yet people still vote based on how much a candidate embraces their hate of LGBTQ and immigrants.

I don’t think it’s abandoning what the country was built on. I think it’s the epitome of what the country was built on & stands for. The good people fought & formed the north. The traitors started the war, split into 2 sides to start another war and the only thing both sides agree on is starting more wars. Congrats on being the biggest & best at what you’re good at👎🏿.

So, he's never been Impeached by both the house and the Senate but he has been Impeached by the house more than once. There is much at stake in this upcoming election in the country because if the left gains control of the Senate they're going to impeach him in both. We would still have JD Vance to deal with though probably and he's the guy who wrote Project 2025. That's unless the left quits acting so fucking toothless and worthless all the damn time as if politics is just theatre to them. So many of our politicians are corrupt. The entire system is fucked. Things have to be rebuilt no matter how you slice it.

Technically, the House impeaches Trump with a simple majority vote. It’s likely he’ll be impeached if democrats win the majority.

After that, the Senate puts him on trial. And that requires a 2/3s majority vote.

Hence, the impeachment will just be a show trial with zero chance of the senate removing him from office.

That said, simply paralyzing the government with the trial is still a vast improvement over now.

Well, Barron is a friend of the Tate Brothers

Btw that's not unlike what Russia is doing information-wise. They don't mean to present lies as truth or to deny the real truth. They just flood the media with extraordinary bs until people start saying "there's so many versions that we can't know the truth"

Exactly - Trump learns from the best.

He also learned “The Big Lie” from Putin where you repeat an obvious falsehood that all party members must publicly support as a litmus test. Like winning the 2020 election.

It’s crushed Republican Party dissent as ANY criticism or question of anything the president says is met with vengeful wrath - often by their own constituents.

I mean they also bought most of the main stream media so...

1

u/Ntroepy 6h ago

Even if they didn’t own the media, both sides click on all things Trump which is what drives news revenue.

3

u/black_metronome 7h ago

The news media is owned by Republicans and they have been actively helping Trump.

It's the gishgallop. It takes longer to investigate and debunk something than it does to just make shit up.

But that shouldn't stop us from protesting and "disturbing the peace" about... everything.

1

u/double_dangit 5h ago

Maybe it shouldn't be protests then...

The only thing that would work at this point is getting the good third of the population on a general strike and good luck with that.

They have to fuck it up so bad that all of us aren’t scared of not paying bills or needing to work anymore so we don’t care enough to actually just stop working and or fight back.

2

u/Ntroepy 3h ago

One big reason Americans can’t sustain mass strikes is that we have a terrible social safety net, with almost nothing to fall back on. And our policies heavily favor corporate rights over worker rights.

When your healthcare depends on keeping your job, risking that job can mean risking everything, so people can only protest so much.

It’s almost as if someone designed it that way. 🤔

Exactly right man. They brainwashed the maga working class to think we dont need unions anymore somehow.

Its truly an abysmal state of affairs.

They have to make us all desperate enough to take the plunge and they have it designed to keep us right on the cusp. If Trump makes it any harder it might be the unfortunate push we need.

Buying control of all of the media also helps.
