Theres flaws in our system that have been exposed, everyone is hoping the midterms will turn the tide. Right now the people can stop him are mostly on his side.

People are wary of doing anything say on the level of a french protest because he's mused about martial law and using the insurrection act. It's a "don't give them a reason" type rule thats been in place for protests so far. There's genuine concern about martial law and cancelled elections.

Good thing Americans kept all those guns so they can be afraid of martial law

Our military is way more powerful than 30% of Americans that have guns.

Yeah, I think the guy you are replying to is just making the point that one of the adages you the rest of the world often hears from Americans is "we need guns to protect against a corrupt state".

Really seems like having guns gives the state the excuse to use excessive force against it's citizens and thus completely shuts down the kind of effective protesting you see in countries like France and places in Asia.

Citizens having guns ironically seems to neuter effective protesting.

Exactly. Its always been a LARP by cowards that undermines actual resistance

everyone is hoping the midterms will turn the tide.

Because that's the process. THAT's how we effect change. There is literally no amount of protesting that will change how the GOP operates anymore. They will just use it as a pretext for more extreme measures.

So right now our choices are to vote them out or start the civil war. It will depend on how the election turns out and if Republicans get the message or decide to double down on their chosen course.

After President Donald Trump told attendees at the Republican midterm convention Thursday night that "we want honesty in our elections," he led them in a pledge to "cheat like hell" and "go out and vote" in the midterm elections

Cheat like hell huh. Good luck

You have to remember. We're dealing with a bunch of idiots. Most likely whatever they attempt will fail spectacularly.
