U.S. ambassador warns Canadian politicians: ‘Keep your nose out of American politics’
https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/article/us-ambassador-warns-canadian-politicians-keep-your-nose-out-of-american-politics/427
u/TI72836 9h ago
It feels like the US wants to blame us for when the Republicans lose the midterms.
189
u/DodgsonKaputnik 8h ago
Get in line.
They will blame you, Ukraine, Joe Biden, Iran, China (quietly) and Satan. They will in fact blame everybody except themselves and their own policies.
These people want to own everything in the world except the responsibility for the consequences of their own actions. That, they fob off onto anyone they can think of, no matter how absurd.
26
u/LadyBarfnuts 8h ago
Satan always gets a bad rap. Must be frustrating. Hope he's doing ok mental health wise.

MAGA follows the classic authoritarian playbook to the letter. It's just about their only skill.
I will gladly accept their pathetic whining and misdirected blame IF we get off our asses and vote to flip the Congress and reign-in that stupid, evil, corrupt motherfucker.

u/tahdig_enthusiast 9h ago edited 4h ago
I’ve been saying this for months, they’re absolutely going to be blaming us
EDIT: Since this is getting a lot of views, my opinion is that they’ll deploy ICE to border states (and a bit beyond) and ask for a recount in all those States, with ICE supervision ofc). Saying that Canada meddled in the elections and that Canadians voted in US elections.
4
u/Lopsided-Rough-1562 2h ago
That's plausible.
And it's frightening that it's plausible.
I've lived through too many once in a lifetime events the last twenty years. Let this not lead to another
14
u/pleasegivemepatience 8h ago
Or you’ll be the excuse for them trying to cancel or interfere with them, due to ‘foreign interference’ like they’re doing with China.
8
u/BleuRaider 8h ago edited 7h ago
Wrong. They’ll blame trans people one sentence before. They’ll then probably concoct some conspiracy of a trans, black, Canadian-trained domestic terrorist cell backed by Ukrainian funding who entered the country from Mexico. Gotta go after everyone conservative Americans hate in one blow.
7
7
u/ffdfawtreteraffds 5h ago
IF the Republicans lose control of the feckless Congress in November, the Republicans will look to blame anyone, and you're certainly one convenient option.
While they do speak for all of us, many, many of us do NOT agree with what the fuckers say. My hope is the many, many ACTUALLY vote this time. I wish I could feel more confident than I do. Heaven help us...

This is hilarious, after the recent reporting of American Republicans are trying to help the Alberta separatists (for those that are not Canadian, Alberta is a province in Canada, and Trump's people met with Alberta separatists before, and now this recent news):
Revelations about talks in Washington where Alberta separatists suggested exchanging water and oil for U.S. support, and in Calgary where separatists met secretly with Republican strategists, have sparked an outcry from federalists – and a call for legislative change.
...
A Globe and Mail investigation on Saturday reported that Republican political operatives were on the ground in Alberta this year to assist the separatist campaign in its bid to leave Canada, while harbouring their own aspirations for the province to secede. The investigation also found that when Alberta separatist leaders went to Washington to meet with the State Department, they offered up key assets from the province’s resource portfolio, including access to fresh water and royalties on crude oil, in exchange for help transitioning to independence.
...
The investigation also revealed that separatist advocate David Parker brokered an invitation-only meeting near the Calgary airport in January, where Republican strategists from Michigan discussed software that could be used to boost the sovereignty campaign and help sway the referendum outcome.

u/BringbackDreamBars 10h ago
help transitioning to independence
Unidentified men with AR15's and black F150's crossing the border when?
Jokes aside, this is so similar to a lot of Russian rhetoric/strategy towards Ukraine/the Caucausus.

u/BrothelWaffles 9h ago
The parts of the MAGA playbook that aren't from Project 2025 or Thiel and Musk's little gaggle of technocrats are straight out of Russia and the USSR's playbook. The whole TDS thing and trying to have it classified as a legitimate mental illness is one of those pages. Destabilizing neighboring countries to expand your territory is another.

Came to say the same thing. So rich of them to suggest anything on this topic. It's worth noting that at least the Americans wouldn't act like cowards (as Ottawa is) when faced with seditious behavior from abroad. They seem to be pretty cowardly with seditious behavior domestically though
13
u/DisastrousAcshin 8h ago
What would you like Ottawa to do in a province that's already selling separatism on federal overreach? What actionable proof have you seen that they should be acting on?
The separatists are about to lose their referendum, so when that happens and shit escalates, I expect to see action taken. As of right now I feel they're going to see how this sham of a democratic referendum plays out

Yeah but by doing that you would be playing into the US hostile rethoric.
They know their ambassador shit talks Canada, that's why they chose him and that's the posture the US government told him to adopt, because they want a reaction from Canada that would justify more hostility, Canada does well by not playing that game, as it would fall right into the US bait.
It wouldn't be the first time in history someone send an annoying ambassador hoping he would get expelled/sometimes killed in order for something else to happen.
