County Commisioner

Would an AMA from Steve Roger's (Running for County Commisioner District 4) gain much traction here? Or would he just be spinning his wheels?

How is River Ridge High School?

Hi! I’m a mom looking into high schools in the Woodstock area and I’m considering River Ridge. I’d love to hear from current parents, students, or recent graduates about what the school is actually like.

How is the computer science/technology program? My child is interested in possibly studying CS/software engineering in college, so that’s pretty important to us.

Also, how are the sports, clubs, school spirit, and overall student life? Is it a school where students generally enjoy being there and have plenty to do?

I’d appreciate any honest opinions, good or bad. Also curious how River Ridge compares to Roswell High if anyone has experience with both. Thanks!

Fun and Poppin Halloween Events?

Im most likely going to attend Downtown Woodstock and hit up Blue Ghost (cuz I love it there), but are there any other good spots to be on Halloween? Especially since it’s gonna be on a Saturday this year?

Only other place I can think of is the Battery.

💗FCAS Senior Shelter Pup Looking for Her Happily Ever After💗

Meet FCAS foster Amy! 💖 This 7yo, 60lb (looks smaller, she’s muscular!) shepherd mix girl is certified BFF material! 👯‍♀️ She’s been our easiest foster thus far and has been such a polite, happy houseguest. She’s incredibly affectionate, will lean in for hugs, and loves to stand and put her paws on your shoulders if you’re seated eye level with her. 🥹 She makes the cutest little grunting noises when she snuggles and her head tilt game is STRONG! 😆

She may technically be a senior (suspect she may be a bit younger), but she’s still got plenty of pep in her step! She’s super playful, loves fetch, and has a blast running around the yard and playing with our resident Shepsky. 🐾 She also settles quickly, sleeps through the night, LOVES to cuddle, and doesn’t show signs of separation anxiety (only short-lived protest whines and quickly gives up 😆). All in all, 10/10 good girl! 🥰

✅ Potty trained - no accidents! 🤞🏽
✅ Leash trained - pulls, but manageable
✅ Crate trained
✅ Non-destructive
✅ Dog friendly
✅ Excellent temperament
✅ Knows commands - sit, stay, shake (both paws)
✅ Good recall
✅ Treat/food motivated
✅ Non-reactive (treats, toys, food, etc)
✅ Easily handled
✅ Easy to bathe/dry/brush/trim nails
✅ Spayed
✅ HW negative

Amy’s kryptonite? Cats. 😩 She’s shown pretty strong prey drive with our senior kitty, so she would do best in a feline-free home. 🐈‍⬛

We also don’t know how she does with kids, but I imagine the only issue might be that she can get excited and could accidentally cause little children to topple over. 😅

She has an Embark DNA test in progress, so curious to see what her breed mix is…👀

Amy is currently being fostered in Kennesaw, GA and available for adoption through LifeLine Animal Project Fulton County Animal Services. Click the link below to schedule a meet & greet with her or feel free to message me! 👋🏽

What fruiting plants have you had good luck growing in woodstock?

Im doing some landscaping and building a orchard.

Curious on what fruiting trees or shrubs would work best in the area?

It's kind of tricky researching as we are a 7b/8a mixed zone it seems

Best cleaning services?

Any reliable cleaning services nearby? Ideally one that lets you schedule an approximate time and date? Currently I use Amenify through my apartment and I’m tired of them giving me a time then showing up at all hours of the day or not showing up at all

Looking for people to hike with

Hello!

Me and 2 of my friends (early 20s) are looking for folks to join us for hiking. We haven't quite decieded on the exact location yet, but several options are on the table and we are open to new ideas. We're most likely aiming for Saturday, but we have some flexbility and regardless we'd love to meet new people to do activities with down the road. As for myself I just moved here recently so I am 100% always looking for a chance to make new friends.

If you're interested feel free to DM me!

Need a General Practitioner

I’m looking for recommendations for a general practitioner. I’m about to hit 40 next month and I’m trying to start the next decade by actually taking care of myself instead of just saying I will. If anybody has a recommendation for a competent family doctor I would appreciate it. I’m not looking for someone who is just going to throw a bunch of meds at me if they aren’t needed, I would like actual long term solutions.

Surveillance in Cherokee: Town Hall

Post image
49 Upvotes

Join us in Woodstock on Wednesday, October 7th, from 7-9 PM to discuss the surveillance network in Cherokee County, and what YOU can do about it!

We're joined by a star-studded lineup:
- Steven Rogers is the only candidate running for the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners on a platform to take down Flock cameras. He will be MC'ing the event!
- North Georgia CAN's "Tech Watch" initiative is THE dream playbook for protecting citizens from expansions of the surveillance state. If you're worried about Axon replacing Flock once we take it down, Tech Watch is the way to stop them.
- Natasha Noble has led a historic initiative on county transparency and surveillance accountability, and has stood up for justice against a system that has disenfranchised so many. Her story of injustice, like so many others, includes abuse of the Flock cameras.

Our speakers will share our research, paint a picture of the surveillance technology operating in Cherokee County, and tell you how you can get involved in the fight against mass surveillance at home.

Most importantly, the majority of the town hall will be an extensive Q&A, as we open the floor to any and all public comments, questions, ideas, and debate. The fight against mass surveillance isn't about just us; it's about every resident of Cherokee County, and every one of us deserves to have a say, to speak publicly, and to make our voice heard.

If you can attend, we’d love to hear from you! And if you can't attend, please tell your neighbors and consider following our efforts! This fight succeeds only when all of us are united, and word of mouth is our greatest tool.
