Let’s Chat, Windsor! We are excited to announce the guest for our eleventh AMA this election season; please join us in welcoming Nick Jirgens, Ward 6 Candidate! He will be live with us this Thursday from 7pm-8:30pm to answer all of your pressing questions!
Nick Jirgens may be a new fresh face to the Windsor political sphere, but he is no stranger to the people of Riverside! Living in the neighbourhood for just over 19 years, Nick has been active in Legal Assistance Windsor, and heavily involved in the arts and advocacy communities. He is an established piano player, volunteers as a substitute piano player at Bethel-Maidstone United Church, and works as a production assistant and musical composer for Paperweight Owl Productions; proving that he does hold the arts and culture scene of Ward 6 and Windsor close to his heart. While starting up his own legal practice is his day job and main hustle, he has proven to be a passionate advocate in his off-time, serving on the board of directors of the Latvian National Federation in Canada/Latviešu Nacionālā Apvienība Kanādā (LNAK), and having sat as the secretary of Better Government for Windsor. He’s also been known to frequent other advocacy groups and events, including Engage Windsor and Activate Transit Windsor Essex events and gatherings. Channeling his passion and care for the Ward 6 community and Riverside neighbourhood, Nick is now throwing his hat into the ring! Also as a fun fact, his favourite colour is yellow!
In the interest of developing and nurturing meaningful conversation between the public and those that look to represent us, we are happy to announce that Nick would like to hear from you! Please note that all are welcome to engage in this event! Whether you’re a political pundit or just an invested observer, all questions are happily welcomed!
We strive to build a community where fellow residents can share in active discussion about what excites and concerns, or intrigues!
We don’t want anyone to feel left behind! If you are unable to make the AMA during the advertised run-time, please feel free to add your comments and questions to this thread; we will make sure that they are included in the rotation of questions for Nick.
Welcome to the central discussion thread for the 2026 Windsor Municipal Election!
To keep our feed clear of clutter, all election-related discussions, candidate platforms, and debates must be posted within this Megathread. Standalone posts for news articles are still permitted.
I recently started a new job in Michigan, and the daily commute is starting to get expensive. The tunnel tolls add up pretty quickly, and gas isn’t helping either 😂
I signed up for Nexpress since the tunnel is the closest and most convenient route for me, but I’m looking for ways to save some money.
I’m also thinking about getting a NEXUS card, so I have a few questions for anyone who commutes to Michigan regularly:
-Is getting NEXUS worth it? How much does it actually save you on tolls?
-How do I apply, how much does it cost, and how long does it usually take?
-What’s the application and interview process like? Anything I should know beforehand?
Any other tips for saving money on tolls or gas (specially gas) when crossing the border every day?
Would appreciate any advice from people who do this regularly. Thanks!
Hi Everyone, excited to chat with folks about the municipal election in Windsor, or the community more generally...we're going to get started in a couple of minutes...happy to hang around til 8:30 (just before my bed-time...lol).
I posted a post earlier regarding this but i just figured out that i have small cyst on my back . If anyone knows any good doctor please letme know . Thanks !
With all the insanity going on, one thing I’ve been enjoying is regular walks across the Gordie Howe Bridge.
It’s not exactly a scenic. The surrounding area is an industrial wasteland, it occasionally smells like a ripe diaper, and the view of Zug Island is dirty and dystopian. But the bridge itself looks great, and the views are pretty nice.
I’ve walked and biked across it over a dozen times now. One thing I’ve really enjoyed is putting together a playlist for the trip, which I call the Bridge Mix.
So far, it includes a mix of Motown, Windsor bands, Detroit bands and songs about rivers.
Current playlist (some of):
The Tea Party – The River
The White Stripes – Seven Nation Army
The Stooges – I Wanna Be Your Dog
Martha Reeves & the Vandellas – Heat Wave
Alice Cooper – School’s Out
Neil Young – Down by the River
Al Green – Take Me to the River
Sloan – Money City Maniacs
The Gandharvas – The First Day of Spring
Arcade Fire – Rebellion (Lies)
Bonus points for:
Windsor bands > Other Canadian bands > Detroit bands > Songs about rivers or bridges
Hi I’m looking for a reputable phone repair shop they’re just too many to choose from. I need my iPhone 16 Pro back glass replaced. Does anybody know a guesstimate to oem vs aftermarket parts.
Thank you for any suggestions
Lets Chat, Windsor! We are excited to announce the guest for our tenth AMA this election season; please join us in welcoming Kieran McKenzie, Ward 9 Incumbent and Candidate! He will be live with us this Wednesday from 7pm-8:30pm to answer all of your pressing questions!
Kieran McKenzie has been no stranger to the Windsor political scene- having been first elected in 2018 and since then serving Ward 9 for two terms. Prior to his election to council, Kieran worked closely for twelve years with Brian Masse (Member of Parliament - Windsor West) as a legislative assistant, serving in a policy development role. As a city councillor, Kieran has focused on a variety of issues in his ward, including public safety concerns, infrastructure concerns, access to reliable services, transit, and environmental concerns. Deeply passionate about his community and constituents, Kieran has fought and successfully introduced a number of initiatives, including making naloxone a required piece of equipment carried by all first responders. Now, he is fighting for the opportunity to further serve his beloved community for another term on city council! His 2026 platform rests on four pillars: Sustainable Urban Development (Planning Responsibly for a Future-Ready, Environmentally Responsible City), Safe Neighbourhoods(Public Safety is at the Centre of My Work)Strong Public Services(Building a Ward 9 That Works for You), and Responsible Fiscal Management(Protecting Your Tax Dollars While Investing in Windsor’s Future). You can read more about Kieran’s platform and background at his campaign website here.
In the interest of developing and nurturing meaningful conversation between the public and those that look to represent us, we are happy to announce that Kieran would like to hear from you! Please note that all are welcome to engage in this event! Whether you’re a political pundit or just an invested observer, all questions are happily welcomed!

This morning around 2am I hear this shuffling in the laundry room. I don’t think anything of it… I think my cat might just be feeling playful. But a second later my cat jumps on the bed and I’m like wtf. So I go back and lo and behold a fucking rat is scurrying behind my dryer. I’m not particularly handy and I don’t know if it’s 1 or 15. Do you guys know anyone that’s good and reasonably priced in the area?
So I'm currently with dr. ahmed at the add clinic on howard and while i don't think my diagnosis was wrong the doctor isn't the best, even though I'm 18 she always requires my mom or dad at appointments, also focuses on my mom more than me at appointments, also in general isn't very accomodating and it's just annoying to deal with. my parents also think she's a pill pusher and because of how much they have to be involved with the treatment they constantly question my decisions and keep saying im faking my adhd or need to "just get over it"
like recently when I went to get my medication changed because it wasn't working as well as it used to, the doctor prescribed me vivance and change it from just one does in the morning to a slightly smaller dose in the morning with a small dose later in the day to keep the steam going, they keep getting on my ass about "ohhh you don't need the medication, you just need to will yourself through it" and that kind of bullshit.
Just hoping to get a reccomendation from people's experiences.
edit: Thank you all for your help, I might try to stick with my doctor a little bit longer to see if I can try to assert myself and my needs better but if that fails I’ll try to start the process of switching over, Thanks again!
Hey so I am looking for a mechanic that is in winter or Belle river that could raise my coil overs and could do my alignment that has suspension and alignment experience because I need my car more soften because every time an hour I go to a bottle I feel a puddle so please let me know. I called the redline auto hose and they don’t have availability.
I have a ring that is just ever so slightly too big on even my middle finger so I need to get it downsized, any places that do a good job and are reasobly priced?
Hi there! I would love to learn French but I can’t find an affordable academy or teacher here. I would like to learn French in a short period of time not spending 1 year on a traditional language course if that make sense. Any recommendations for adults? I have a basic level already.
Looking to "clean up shop downstairs", and I'm looking for places that other people use. Let me know your recommendations and stuff.... It's my first time going about this so there's obviously a bit of hesitantancy.
