October is here! Here are this month's questions:
Do you have favorite Halloween themed scent? Do you have a piece of gear that you think fits the season? What is it?
Is there a scent that reminds you of a specific fall memory?
Any favorite fall-time activities you enjoy? Apple picking? Pumpkin carving? Leaf crunching?
Anyone have any good pumpkin-based or pumpkin adjacent recipes?
Do you have a favorite film/game/book you like to revisit this time of year?
Any new items you're looking to pick up now that the Fall season is in full swing?
Do you have any favorite fall-time beverages? Spiced Cider? Pumpkin Spice Lattes? Feel free to share!
New wetshaver? This is the perfect place to ask questions.

The Caswell-Massey is so creamy it could go into a tube. I dab the tips of the brush onto the soap and face lather. It does make a very good lather and can take a bunch of water.
Just a 2-pass shave, WTG, XTG and a bit of touch up. DFS.

Wonderful shave this morning using my Above The Tie SS slant paired with a Voskhod blade. These blades are somewhat hard to come by and when I have found them they are quite expensive compared to other premium blades. So I have a few tucks that I’ve saved over the years past.
Lathered up with A&E’s 60’s cologne shave cream with is an homage to that old school Brut scent which immediately brought me back to my high school days in the rockin 70’s. Yes, I just dated myself!
Happy shaving y’all!

Late-night shave — 9.5/10
Razor: Joker (Norwegian, c. 1945 onward)
Blade: BIC Platinum
Brush: NOM Synthetic
Soap: Cella Red
Aftershave: Old Spice
A late shave tonight, trying out my Joker for only the second time. More info on the Joker for those interested at the bottom of the post (swipe to see some more pictures)
This razor is remarkably unremarkable — and I mean that as a compliment. It's a three-piece razor with a forgiving nature, and in some ways it reminds me of the Gillette NEW. Just the right amount of blade exposure and gap, at least in my opinion.
I'd put it somewhere in the medium-aggressive category, but boy, does it get the job done. The steel handle also feels comfortable in the hand.
I think I've finally figured out my Cella, too. This time, I loaded the synthetic brush directly from the tub and then built the lather in my bowl, adding just a few drops of water at a time. Taking it slowly produced a beautiful, slick lather and a really smooth shave. Much better results than scooping the soap, at least for me.
I've been reaching for my NOM synthetic quite a lot lately. I still enjoy a good boar brush, but I guess the convenience of a synthetic is hard to resist.
The BIC Platinum performed well, as usual.
Finished off with some traditional Old Spice, a recent acquisition with a very familiar scent. My grandfather worked a lot with the American Air Force and had been using Old Spice since the 1960s. I feel like his version smelled slightly better, though. Could just be nostalgia!
All in all, a very satisfying 9.5/10 shave.
----
A little background on the Joker:
The Joker is a Norwegian safety razor made by Stanseprodukter, a company established in Oslo after WWII that specialised in steel products.
As far as I can tell, these razors are quite scarce. I've found only three examples so far, all with the same design, and two of them came with their original cardboard boxes.
Based on what I've found, I think it's fair to call them rare, at least within Norway, and probably even more so internationally. My impression is that this was a locally produced razor intended primarily for the Norwegian market.
The razors don't appear to carry any identifying marks beyond their distinctive design, which makes them a little harder to research and identify.
Have a good one!

THEME -Leathursday so when asking for a wee smudge to get a dig out from a fellow shaver one should really look at the fxxking scent notes shouldn't one , so apparently Wickham Soap Co's Russian leather is a dupe of Imperial leather FFS here are the fxxking scent notes ,
Top notes: Lavender, Bergamot, Lemon
Heart notes: Geranium, Fern, Cedar wood, Patchouli
Base notes: Vanilla, Moss, Musk, Tonka, Amber.
I only checked the notes about an hour ago I had given it a sniff on its arrival and thought mmm that is an unusual leather scent it will be different when it lathers up I'm sure . Well the cedar wood musk & amber may make a leather type scent attempt but I am clutching at straws here leather is in the name and that's a good thing .
This was my first go with the MMOC which arrived last Saturday with my pal from Texas also the four pots of soap samples from u/arcaderehab thanks again by coincidence I also won his PIF . So first go with MMOC wow I really liked it now I did have my head stuck out the bathroom window for the shave so hopefully the next use will be even better but I am impressed with this razor does this now send me down a Gem rabbit hole to pair up with the Ever-Readys .
DAILY CHALLENGE - Soak up the sun , sun this is Ireland the sun hardly appears in October, so shave outside with no covering , its raining out & it is nearly 9pm by the time I get to shave and I am grumpy because I didn't research the scent notes for today's soap , so I stuck my head & set up outside the bathroom window to comply with this daily challenge I have to pull back some dignity after messing up on the theme onwards & upwards people.

24 hour stubble this morning, and not a single nick or cut. The Game Changer .84 seems to work awesome on 24 hour stubble. The razor head design makes it efficient without being overly aggressive on the blade feel. Gillette Wilkie blade, Speick cream and splash makes it well rounded. This razor is a lifetime keeper for me.

New brushes: Unbleached Zenith boars. 27x64 and 27x56.
The wood handle is absolutely gorgeous and the white plastic looks like the Omega 49, but it looks nicer and feels higher quality.

Henson Ti+, RK blade, Yaqi tuxedo 24mm brush, zingari man the wanderer soap, Floid Splash.
I had 2.5 days of growth to mow down this morning and grabbed the nearest blades, RK, I only managed to shave half of my right side of my cheek before swapping it for the next in my box of tricks - the Personna Platinum. The difference was staggering! It sliced through my cactus bristles with no problem what so ever.
In the end I had a nice two pass shave, and a little touch up under my nose and jawline, finished off with a nice splash of Floid.
Have a good one and great shaves to you all. 🪒

Results and Comments: Close, enjoyable WTG/ATG shave with the Gem Featherweight. I'm a fan of audible feedback from my razors and this one sings beautifully. 9.5/10 no irritation BBS, could have used a touched up.

2 pass (WTG/XTG) shave this morning with the youngest of my collection - the 1979 slim twist, my last Derby Premium, La Barbiera orange soap, Men-ü boar brush, Kent mug and Old Spice aftershave.
Simple, quick and clean one today after last night's close one, the twist is a very comfortable mild razor never any dramas with this one.
The soap isn't great but it smells good and a bargain at around £3
Good shaves everyone

New to using a shaving brush and bowl. The diameter of the soap is larger than the bowl, should I cut bar up in pie shape so I can fit a piece into bowl?

It's a bit big and clunky and I still have to fall back to the name that shall not be named for specific spots, but overall it's nice to always have a fresh and sharp shave!

Wrapping up my first week with the Fatip, and I'm learning its angles. After an uncomfortable shave on Tuesday, I concentrated on finding and sticking to the right angles today and had a much better shave.
I hope you all have a great day!

I have been wet shaving for years, started at every 3 days, every other day, then due to hybrid workweek, once a week, now i shave almost everyday five days a week, my shaves aren’t half as close as they used to be when I used to shave weekly as I can’t go hard on my skin. So I get pretty reasonable DFS that I’m happy with. I don’t get redness or irritation however, I do get quite a bit of alcohol sting with the aftershave, i don’t feel any burn after or throughout the day, no redness, nothing.
What does that imply? Do I need improving? I’m pretty seasoned shaver but always looking to improve my technique. Thank you

Morning everyone, on vacation this week so I only have a small amount of gear with me.
3 passes as normal and I'm suprised everything went smooth and got a close shave despite not having a mirror that extends from the wall, I'm too accustomed to my mirror set up at home🤣
Down here in Nebraska for a week visiting some family, still wanted to have some of my den with me.
Happy Thursday folks and as always, have a good day and great shaves 😎

The Fatboy with a Nacet blade on its third use today.
Unfortunately, I noticed some clear tugging and a loss of sharpness. The more difficult areas of my face didn’t go as smoothly as usual, and I ended up with a few small nicks after going over them several times.
I think one or two shaves may be the sweet spot for me with the Nacet. Perhaps it’s time to go back to the one-and-done approach. 😂
The Semogue SOC boar brush is coming along nicely. It builds a thick lather with very little effort, and the bristles have softened enough for comfortable face lathering.
Martin de Candre Vetiver and Pitralon Classic made for a lovely, traditional combination.
Have a good shave!

I currently use a Semogue 1800 and a chubby 2 synthetic, i switch between them regularly. I love the feel of my Semogue, but i dont like how "floppy" it can be compared to my chubby 2.
Im trying to decide between the SOC selected premium boar and the Torga-C5 premium boar, which ive read have more backbone than the 1800. The question is: which one do i get? Any insight would be much appreciated, I'm on the fence between the two

I’ve been out of the soap buying game for a while now, so i decided/deciding on getting some new things. First off I recently brought a Catie bubbles midnight dreary and the REX decades samples. Loving the Cbubs so far i definitely need the aftershave to go with the soap! As for the REX soaps my rankings are from 1-5, 88,66,44,55 then 77 so I’m definitely thinking of getting the 88 soap and aftershave! Next soaps are the ones more on the Yolo buy for the sets are seaforths black watch and Roman spice, I hear wonderful things about both! So it’s hard to choose so may end up with both lol. Is there anything else I should be looking into?

I have started to use a Merkur Mustache Razor, which only works with a proprietary blade, which is carbon steel, not stainless steel. What I've been doing after shaving is loosening the razor head, rinsing in hot water, shaking it out, drying the outside parts (including the blade edges that stick out) with a tissue, and then blasting the razor with compressed air for 30 seconds. Then I remove the razor from the bathroom and leave it out in another, nonhumid, room for a few hours, and then return to the bathroom counter, still leaving the razor loosened (the bathroom is well ventilated and does not seem humid to me). After 3 or 4 days, I notice rust beginning to form on the flat part of the blade, and near the edge, but not at the edge, and not at the sharp part of the blade that sticks out from the top cap. Below is a photo. You can see a line of rust under the word "Germany." I have 2 questions:
Thank you. Photo is below.
