in what world is a quickly cobbled together vibe coded product the best way to compete with the largest, most tested and used game launcher for PC games? who thought this was the solution?
paying for timed exclusives would court people from Steam rather than annoy everyone (as if they didn't see the backlash to EA's launcher)
offering free games that amount to 80% indie nobodies and 20% AAA games from 5+ years ago is comparable to the Steam Summer, Autumn, & Winter Sales.
people would want to abandon their years old Steam libraries for any reason
offering a lower take on games published to EGS would make developers stop publishing their games to Steam (having games on both isn't an option)
suing Steam when none of that worked and accusing them of being as bad as Microsoft or Apple would win people over
Epic is run by morons who think throwing more money at their perceived problem would solve it, but the reality is that it's a self-inflicted problem that no one else believes needs to be solved; the EGS isn't taking Steam's marketshare. I don't care and no one who isn't financially invested in Epic should.
