As someone playing mediumcore on terraria right now. It really sucks. The devs know no one plays on it and don’t bother to balance the game with it in mind. I recently touched the bottom of the world (that kills you instantly now) and lost all my gear, and lost a lot of items that are now unobtainable
I accidentally did something similar in Starbound a while back and basically quit the game for good because it was just not worth it to me to redo all that progress.
even if everything is obtainable (idk if they are), it’s a real hassle to get your stuff back, especially since you’re starting from scratch this time.
Another problem is the world progresses with you as you move on, as in shit gets harder. Unless you decide to grind items twice or thrice, which is already a hassle with how grindy the game is since items are meant to be permanent in mind, you can essentially say bye bye to your world if you especially reach post-mechs tbh, but idk maybe more experienced players with that mode have a way.

If it was the standard mode, it’d be loved so much more, just look at terraria, nobody plays mediumcore
