That's a Shuffle board weight, and damned if that picture doesn't look like it's sitting on a shuffleboard table.

This is definitely a shuffle board puck. You can tell not only because of the shape and weight, but because of the scuffing on the bottom from the sand scratching it.

There's no banana, so I have no idea how big it is.

He probably stole it from the bar it looks like these things for that table game with the long board you pour salt on the table and slide these down it, it’s like shuffle board cant remember what it’s called.

My very first thought. My mom was a barfly. Come from a whole line of em. Lot lizards, too. On my dad's. But that's a different story.

Table version of shuffleboard. Drop some sawdust like powder on the polished surface and slide it with your hand, like air hockey but shuffleboard.

I don’t understand how this stops drinks from spilling. They sit on top of the heavy coaster. What am I missing here?

u/opesosorry 1h ago
Yeah I don’t think this is it. The ridges are different around the edge. It’s an exact match to an old shuffleboard puck in the picture another commenter posted

u/El_Mnopo 1h ago
It doesn’t even look remotely the same and your “coaster” is smaller in diameter than your drink can lol

The ridges on that coaster are different. Yours, the entire metal area is raised, this one the metal area is tapered with just a thin raised metal wall could still be a coaster but not that one.
Try putting the beer on it, it looks like it would fit the bottom of a beer can snuggly. Maybe it’s like a beer can specific coaster

My local pizza joint had a bowling machine that dated from the 50’s, it used these. That machine was legendary and only gave up the ghost about a year ago

Too heavy for a shuffleboard puck, which are 13-15 ounces.

u/Educational-Rule1635 1h ago
But way too heavy for a Towle Coaster, which are less than 200g(7oz) for a set of six.

So, you drank the beer, then put the can on the shuffleboard puck, and decided that a 1 lb coaster was the correct answer?! Are you sure, OP?
