New, what is it? Me and my wife both never put anything in this water
Hi so I had been gone all day and I came home and this waterbottle was this color. I am the only one who drinks flavored water in my household and the flavor I have is the Crush Watermelon (which is pink) this also has floating particulates that are dark and light. It is progressively getting darker. WHAT IS THIS?
Edit: It also foams when shaken too much

You have a stranger living in your basement most likely

This was my first thought unfortunately. Though I have been hearing a lot of scary frogging stories just because it's Halloween time. Still it doesn't hurt to check the basement and crawl space!

What is frogging 👀

u/Mindhandle 4h ago
People who live in people's homes without the actual owner/tenant knowing. Like in the attic or crawl spaces or wherever they can find

My first will always be carbon monoxide detector, so many stories on here of people not realizing that's what's happening. The other day I read one and I was certain someone broke in. Nope both their carbon monoxide dectors were faulty. Both..

Could it be acidic compounds in the drink mix reacting with alkaline buffers in the water, causing bits to precipitate out, slowly?

One of you is lying then, water doesn't just up and change colors like this in a single day without tampering.
4
u/Dansk72 4h ago
But do the visible particles dissolve if you give it a good shake?
2
u/redRoyalMayhem 4h ago
No it just gets foamy
2
u/TsundereOfDeath 4h ago
That just mean the water is over saturated (has too many compounds in it that it cant dissolve any more) try adding more water and see if the dissolve, if not try heating it up and see if it dissolves. If it does its just the water flavoring, if it doesn't then smthns up.

hm interesting. powdered water flavoring makes the same flakes. Not accusing you, just saying it makes it hard to figure out.

u/Critical-Adagio7617 4h ago
It’s one of these options
-there wasn’t enough water in it
-you were too intoxicated and you don’t remember doing it
-she is lying and is trying to poison you
-someone is living in your attic or crawlspace and they left it there by accident

If there is a possibility of it being that, or even if not, the bottle needs to be immediately trashed!
2
u/IamShrapnel 4h ago
Mostly harmless unless you are immuno compromised, it can cause UTIs though. It probably got into the bottle through the air and thrived on either residual toothpaste from the drinker or minerals that were in the bottled water.

That's flaxseeds

I'm autistic and so if my wife, we have nothing like that in the house

u/ItsYaBoiSamwell 4h ago
What does you being autistic have anything to do with flaxseeds
19
u/2SSLOWW 4h ago
It’s the new CrossFit, you have to announce it.
4
u/Competitive_Classic9 4h ago
If they dont announce it, then how else are they supposed to work it into every conversation in lieu of having an actual personality?
2
u/turtlesaregorgeous 3h ago
It’s just that autistic people spend so much time being told their certain personality traits are just “autism” they just assume anything particular about themselves is due to it and therefore reference it in the most “random” places. OP feels autism went into play there more than likely because they probably have an aversion towards certain food items, like flax seed. Or, they are the extremely clean and organized type have the ability to be both 100% confident and 100% correct there is no flax seed contamination occurring here.

u/Competitive_Classic9 3h ago
This is the thing. If people have something that makes them clearly function in an objectionably disruptive way, then by all means throw it out there if you want, so people know whats up. But there are so many people thinking minor "quirks" must equal autism, and therefore must be announced bc "arent i different", theyre actually just making it harder for people on the spectrum to be taken seriously.

I was diagnosed at 4 and genuinely struggle with certain textures. Sometimes I genuinely cant eat because of it.
2
u/Competitive_Classic9 3h ago
Yea, im aware how this works. I have a kid that has the same. Its irrelevant to the initial comment.

They’re used to test for it. If you throw flax seeds at someone and they react negatively, then you know that person is autistic.

Okay, I immediately understood this, but i also have an autistic wife, so that's probably why I immediately got it.
Note - People please do not down vote this just because you don't understand it. Texture eating is a very big deal for people with autism. My wife will literally stop eating dinner and find something else to eat if she finds one singular piece of food that her mouth decides is a weird texture, or if the company making an ingredient to a dish changed their ingredients even slightly.
Edit - GOOD GOD y'all are really just looking for a reason to talk shit about autistic people, huh? This thread is getting disgusting.

u/Dounce1 4h ago
Sorry, but what do you mean by “the company making an ingredient to a dish changed their ingredients?”
1
u/Apprehensive-Big4756 4h ago
I think they are saying if they are making, say, gravy as an “ingredient” to a dish (I actually can’t even think of the correct word to replace that with so I reused it but I know there is a word…) and the gravy company changes the actual gravy ingredients they would notice
1
u/Jack_Bartowski 4h ago
Probably "The company made an ingredient change to the dinner." Im sure we can all relate with our favorite brands over the years.

u/Valuable-Analyst-464 4h ago
I’m guessing that when a company has reformulated their recipe, this person’s wife can tell and stop.
One example I can think of is Reese’s peanut butter cups. In the past 15 years; their product recipe has changed.
Some people are very sensitive to the difference.1
u/NotAWalrusInACoat 3h ago
My wife literally stopped eating Reese's peanut butter cups because she noticed the change before it was even publicly announced.

So one of our go-to meals is turkey sausage and pierogis. Specifically, the Eckrich Farms turkey sausage. The last few packs of turkey sausage we bought had an ever-so-slightly different texture; slight enough that I didn't even notice it until she said something. We now cannot eat Eckrich Farms Turkey Sausage because her brain simply won't let her.
Or we do a creamy cajun penne with andouille sausage. We used the same brand for nearly 3 years until they changed the ingredients that go into it and we had to switch because, again, the texture had changed slightly.

Perhaps your wife made someone a drink when you were out of the house that she can’t tell you about.

The city sent out a post card last year saying there is an unknown element in the pipes supplying water to our houses and in the next paragraph it said it's lead and we have to replace out pipes from the city main. 2 weeks ago the city it replacing the mains and rerouting the from the ally to the front street. Our water comes out brown and smells like rotten eggs at times.
