New, what is it? Did my boyfriend stumble upon something crazy?
My boyfriend found this and we have been trying to figure out what it is and can't seem to find any answers. Thank you in advance!

Wait, is that really what the E stands for?

I always thought it was Embolism

Common misconception. An embolism, is what the poor kid in the rat suit is praying for.

that's way better than Specimen E after the tragic but expected departures of A through D.

I see a Freemason logo.

This, or an AA sobriety chip, similar pattern

As a person in recovery, this is most certainly not a recovery coin.

Why not? It looks a little more like a Freemason thing to me but I’ve lost more AA/NA coins than I can count and there are so many damn different ones with varying styles of triangles on them

As a Freemason and the son of a recovering alcoholic I see neither of things.

Find sometime who has a portable XRF...

what's that

X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer. Non-destructive elemental analysis, generally for ones heavier than sodium.

Look at the first pic from the corner of your eye. That look like a Masonic symbol to anyone?

That or some ghostly pirates looking for the last one needed back as the isla de muerta.

It'd probably not but first pic kind of looks like the masonic symbol. Does it have texture? Maybe put a piece of paper on and scratch a pencil or crayon over it, might give bring out more details.

u/Brother-Templar 7h ago
That’s the first thing I saw. The most well known of Masonic symbols, the square and the compass. You see it most clearly on the first picture.

It looks like a quarter that’s been beat to holy hell. Is it the same size as a quarter?

Arcade token that's been dragged across concrete, possibly on the bottom of one or several shoes or stuck to a snowplow for a few blocks

Is this not a pressed coin? Very thin and still has edges. AA or something like it? What type of metal is it?

When I was working at a place that sold lotto tickets one guy who was retired would walk around to just keep busy on nice days and pick up coins like this. He would buy a lotto ticket with all sorts of road coins. I used to search snowbanks too in winter finding road coins plus jewelry. I'd look on social media for people that posted that they lost something but otherwise would keep generic stuff.

Looks like a penny or dollar coin that got thrashed in the garbage disposal

u/Expensive-Course3030 7h ago
Looks like a regular coin thats been pummeled on the road for quite some time

u/CompetitiveCut1457 7h ago
Looks like a coin that has been heavily damaged.. Judging by pattern, the previously raised area might have been a free masons coin?
Id have it tested at a gold/silver place. If its gold, ots worth its weight. If its not, its trash.

u/Alextollah 7h ago
Even if that were one of the rarest coins in the world, nothing in that condition is desirable enough to pay anything significant for.

Cheap metal to have that kind of wear. Does not look old to me. Some kind of game token or car wash coin, is my guess. +Edit was spelling
1
u/Chockabrock 7h ago
Not sure what the coin is, but I've seen very similar wear marks on a coin that was stuck in a garbage disposal for a long time

I have a bunch of these. They get stuck between the drum and oscillator in my washing machine and end up looking similar

Oh, another defaced DJT coin. Got it good this time. 👀
(Half joking only — the new coins be getting some serious early-wear action.)
