New, what is it? Outside an elementary/grade school
These 6x6 posts were all erected in front of a local school. The posts have eyelets on the side which tells me they likely will have cables or something strung through them, but why? What is it for?

I wouldn't be surprised if this was a set up for a maze and they'll put up some kind of cloth barrier to be the walls

Yeah it seems to me like some kind of maze or haunted house attraction for Halloween

These are not built something temporary for Halloween. They're probably 3 feet down. And they were put up many months ago, like springtime.

They should start flowering soon and bear fruit by next spring. This is where pine apples come from

hmm that's a long time to have these put up and do nothing with
so we know it's definitely not what I thought

They could put hay bales between the posts to make a corn maze, and tie the bales to the posts to keep them from falling over.

Im probably wrong, but it reminds me of the crucifiction scene in Life of Brian

See my comment. There are too many eye loops to be just for hammocks. It’s a rope climbing jungle gym thingy

Double-decker reading hammocks... double the capacity, same amount of space! ;)

I know somebody who should know I'm going to ask if this is it but this fits the best.

This could be possible. Maybe they have them connected during recess or specific times of day and remove them when not in use so no one steals them

It's to tie the children's leashes to

I just told my republican uncle its where they tether the furry kids who use litter boxes in school, so hopefully angry rants along those lines will reach you on Facebook in a few days.

Its so they can tie up unruly children as a form of punishment.

Field Punishment Number 1. May have been outlawed in the British army in 1923 but it's still in use in Ms Robinsons third grade at PS 106

Ask the school?

Ask the principal and they wouldn't say but said if we guessed right they would tell us.

Gut says it’s a hammock forest. I don’t know what they’re actually called but that’s the name in my head cannon
Used as “trees” to hang camping hammocks or slack lines.
Came across one at Lewis and Clark College in Portland a couple of months ago

These are posts for reading hammocks! Our local elementary school added them recently.

A local school installed several steel beams in the play yard. I couldnt figure out why. They installed sun sails that are now much worse for the wear
