Solved! Cats found this, maybe in the kitchen? (butter for scale)

Post image

I think the kitties found this in the kitchen (the naughtiest of boys can open drawers), no idea what it is .. spouse also has no idea. it's rubbery, slightly flexible

smol update: no one in the house smokes ... does seem like it'd be something that would slide onto something else, not threaded inside.

That’s a good quality butter, btw. Well done.

Next time a banana has to be in there somewhere though. Isn't that an internet rule or something?

7

u/JudgementofParis 12h ago

no it can be anything edible as long as it is a 6 letter word that starts with b

Yuck banana butter(/s)

Kerrygold is probably the only actual butter I the butter isle in any UK supermarket. Well done for eating well.

And it’s Irish. 🇮🇪

I agree that it’s a decent butter. But what do you mean by this? What are the other butters? And I don’t mean the spreadable ones or the other spread concoctions, I mean the actual butters, sold in blocks, made with only milk and optionally, salt?

Edit: Genuine question. Thanks for the downvotes…

I think it's all about the butter butterfat content % .. US butters tend to have a much lower % (which is why most aren't even yellow, more an off white) - Pretty sure I heard that European butters are regulated as to how much butterfat they must have. I think it's also about the culturing process (none for US, Yes for European) - from the internets ...

  • American Butter: Standard American butter contains about 80% butterfat, with the remaining 20% composed of water and milk solids. While this butter is functional for everyday use, its lower fat content can result in a less creamy texture and more moisture, which may affect baking results.
  • European Butter: European butter boasts a higher fat content — typically 82-86%. This high butterfat butter makes it richer, silkier, and more luxurious, with less water and more concentrated flavor.
  • American Butter: Most American butter is sweet cream butter made from pasteurized cream without additional fermentation. This results in a mild, creamy flavor that’s perfect for general use but lacks the depth of cultured butter.
  • European Butter: European butter undergoes a culturing process where beneficial bacteria are added to the cream, allowing it to ferment before churning. This process creates complex, tangy flavors and subtle nutty undertones, giving the butter its signature character.

While this maybe be interesting information – as they don’t sell butter from the US in UK supermarkets, it’s got nothing to do with my question, which was why this guy thinks that Kerrygold is the only proper butter in UK supermarkets? (It isn’t)

u/RojoandWhite 11h ago

I just said it was a good butter.

If I’m cooking something higher-end, that requires more finesse, this is what I turn to. For everyday baking, buttering toast etc, I couldn’t care less what I use.

u/AssumptionEasy8992 11h ago

Sorry. I didn’t reply to you. The person below you that said Kerrygold is the only real butter in UK supermarkets

Found it! Cat toy handle!

3

u/Tw1nFTW 11h ago

2

u/SwooopingIsBad 8h ago

wellll ... I mean ... I was definitely *not* slathering myself with the creamy buttery butter when I found the original cat toy ..

solved!

Seems like a horrible use of good butter, and judging by the comments, some of these people might not appreciate it!

I will say, butter is definitely something people shouldn’t skimp on… and if you serve me margarine I’m leaving.

normal pen for .. girth ...

2

u/RGINNY940 12h ago

Its a cigar tube insert. the cigar rests inside this tube, and this tube rests inside the outer casing with the labeling.

23

u/JuicySpark 12h ago

OP makes good money. That butter is 2-3x the price as normal butter around here

16

u/SwooopingIsBad 12h ago

Garron Noone would be proud tho ...

4

u/Dawn0fTime 7h ago

I follow him. He’s delicious. So is the butter.

6

u/EnvironmentalLime464 12h ago

It really is worth the extra money. Especially if you bake.

u/JuicySpark 11h ago

We bake with weed where I'm from.

9

u/DefiantPenguin 12h ago

It is imperative that the cylinder remain unharmed.

I can’t be the only one who see a tiny Jawa? Loll

23

u/Jolly-Rip5973 13h ago

cigar tube.

2

u/zatanicmanic 12h ago

Not with the holes on the bottom, but maybe a cigar vape? I know those were a thing for a moment

1

u/Cacafuego 12h ago

Funny, my mind went to "fake cigar that you put your money/weed in" because of the color. Why would they make a cigar tube that looks like a cigar? Definitely what it is, though.

u/qarsoodi 13h ago

Cat dildo. And you touched it!

5

u/SwooopingIsBad 12h ago

oh god .. after his neuter, are you saying he has a strap on dildo?

3

u/qarsoodi 12h ago

Yes. And he may also have a substance abuse problem if he's leaving it lying around all willy nilly.

u/AZSystems 12h ago

It's a cat toy. Give it back.

3

u/SlovenlyElephantSeal 12h ago

It's spreadable, delectable, and it comes from kerrygold. ☘️

3

u/wannabe-myself 13h ago

Maybe the handle to a utensil, like a whisk or something?

2

u/purdeous 12h ago

It’s a handle for something, hot temps cleaning it could dislodge the tool easily, add a curious cat and you’ve got a recipe for chaos

4

u/BabyOpposite7013 13h ago

Looks like the rubber part of handle of a cat toy.

3

u/SwooopingIsBad 12h ago

you were right! don't know why I didn't think to check the 'old toys they don't like anymore' drawer

3

u/DesignerConfidence15 12h ago

Cigar smoker here. That really looks like a cigar tube

2

u/oaktreebr 12h ago

I love this butter

2

u/riotz1 12h ago

Ask your husband if the cylinder remained unharmed

2

u/Negative-Archer-5496 12h ago

Half of a toothbrush travel holder

2

u/SlovenlyElephantSeal 12h ago

It looks like the silicone cover for the handle of some kitchen utensil. Is anything suddenly missing the handle/cover?

2

u/cyber_deity 12h ago

This is totally a handle cover for something!

2

u/NuclearSlushie 13h ago

Prop cigar?

It a car antenna cover. It’s not actually the antenna itself, but just the rubber cover for it

1

u/CapablePraline5601 4h ago

Triumph the wonder dog's cigar

1

u/Xdust4 12h ago

Definitely cigar related, maybe the case from one of those old cigar vapes? Regardless don’t get a cylinder stuck in it.

1

u/pappybug214 12h ago

100/100 a cigar tube

1

u/No_Not_Jesus 12h ago

Yup definitely cheating...

1

u/CrawlBreakFixRepeat 12h ago

Sounds strange, but check all your brooms and other handled cleaning apparatus. Looks like a broomstick grip

Cigar or blunt holding tube

0

u/Initial_Row_6400 12h ago

It’s 100% a cigar tube
