Hi Devon Rex Pros, I was hoping you could give me some advice. I'm new to being a Devon Rex mom and I have my first kitten, Winnie. Winnie is 15 weeks old. She's absolutely perfect. She has been getting some yellow dots on her that seem like oil but could be yeast or fungus, I'm not sure.
She had a bath Sunday October 3rd, the day we got her and didn't have the spots. Then by about day 5 some faint spots were getting darker besides attempting to spot clean. Then she had a bath on Sunday Oct 10th with regular shampoo (Burt's Bees Cat Shampoo)and came completely clean but I also sent a photo to the breeder and she said to use an antifungal so I gave her another bath with DouxoS (Douxo S3 PYO Antiseptic Antifungal Chlorhexidine Dog & Cat Shampoo, 6.7-oz bottle) I left this one for the 10 minutes, I used one pump because she only weighs 2.5 lbs. She was very clean for about 2 days. Last week she had less of the coloring on her stomach.
Now it's been only 3 days and she already has spots again. She doesn't smell bad, only a faint butter or oily scent. I don't mind bathing her but I am concerned that overbathing is bad for her. She doesn't seem itchy at all and actually seems to be itching less than the average cat to me. She is bathing herself but isn't amazing at it yet but she's still young.
I've been cleaning her ears with ear wipes about once per week, and I have been cleaning her eyes daily with a warm washcloth.
I'd love any advice you have from frequent bathing needs, shampoos you like, ways to apply, etc.
She has another vet appt next week if you think I should ask the vet instead of handling the routine myself. I'm mostly trying to get a proper bathing and hygiene schedule down.

Almost a week since this boy came into our lives and he is the sweetest boy, he is 5 months old, chocolate bicolor, still didn’t have a name.
Nice to meet everyone, feel free to share a picture with your babies and share something about them as a breed or individual character.
So far we discovered he likes to play with feather wand but no interest on other toys, we are looking forward to find new ways to keep him occupied while we are at work.
We also found an interactive rolling ball. He is very talktative boy, especially in the morning, he likes wet food a lot but we are trying to give him also kibbles and have variety in his diet.

Percy is 7 months and doesn’t seem to be getting bigger so much as more lanky and spindly. Been calling his very long arms tongs a lot lately.

My Devon Rex, she’s 8 months old, has been a little down lately, she hasn’t been eating much, she’s getting slower and sleeping more than usual, her eye was a little weird yesterday but today she woke up like this, I don’t know what to do, is this normal? Went to emergency vet yesterday, gave her an anti inflammatory shot, checked her eye told us cornea was good, today it looks worse. Any advice?

We have this kitten for 4 days and he is absolutely crazy, very high energy and constantly meowing, he is 5 months old. Do they calm down as adults or have this much energy? We also have a 11 year old male who is the sweetest boy, so calm and he is so stressed currently with him. He likes to spend time with me a lot and also he has an unusual feeding schedule, he eats his wet food by night and now he can’t do this anymore.

Any tips for new cat parents? Grew up around dogs mostly so I’m in uncharted territory…
She’s currently battling Giardia… she’s almost done with her antibiotics THANK GOD!

Hi everyone! This is my beautiful devon kitten, he is 5 months old and he is everything we’ve asked for, we have him for 3 days. On the right is my 11 years old male, Zephyr. He lived with cats all his life, he had a female partner for 8 years and he was very sociable with kittens that I had in foster but he was younger at that time (3-4 years old). He is very territorial and very possessive with his spots, especially the bed where he sleeps next to me every day. First I gave them an item for each other to smell and they seem fine, they saw each orther through door and Zephyr growled at him, I let them together yesterday but the kitten wants to stay as close as possible with me, they growled at each other and didn’t respect his space, so after 20 minutes after I sleep with the kitten on my lap, Zephyr attacked him, I tried to separate them and he scratched me on one arm really badly. It was such a shock for me because I thought they least tolerate each other but probably the tension was big at that moment. For now they are in separate rooms, I am truly to spend time with both of them and I am trying to make the kitten to sleep next to me in his basket or blanket, but not on me. If you have any advice, please write me

Has anyone seen this on their devons? My 7yo devon was wearing a shirt for the past few weeks and when I took it off today to brush him, there looks to be dandruff. And it seems to be worse after I brushed him. Also, he hasnt had a bath in maybe a year.
He used to have a little bit of this, not to this extent. Anyone know why? Also we are recently getting into cold weather here.

I’m hoping to get some honest input because I've been going back and forth on this for days.. it’s really killing me and breaking my heart.
I have two Devon Rex girlsfrom the same breeder. They didn't arrive bonded, but after about four days they became best friends, and they've been inseparable ever since. They even share a litter box without any problems. I brought Roxy in when she was 2 and Maisie was over a year old.
A while ago I tried bringing home a third adult cat from the same breeder, and it didn't work out. My two cats really hated her. She seemed mostly indifferent to them, but they wanted nothing to do with her. It was really sad, and honestly a little embarrassing to admit it wasn't going to work.
Now the breeder has a ginger girl kitten available, and it's the first ginger girl she's ever had. My soul cat was a ginger girl, so I'm especially drawn to her. I'm already so attached to this little kitten, and it's been really hard.
I’m hoping a kitten might be easier on everyone than an adult cat was, but I don't know if that's realistic or if I'm just hoping for what I want. I'm also in a one-bedroom apartment, around 800 to 900 sq ft, so I'd need to get creative to fit a second litter box.
For anyone who's been through something similar:
- Did a kitten integrate better with your resident cats than an adult did?
- Have you had a failed introduction and then a successful one later?
- How did you make a second litter box work in a small space?
I’m really torn. I don't want to put my cats or myself through another failed introduction, but I'm afraid I'll regret it if I let her go.

Just discovered this subreddit and wanted to share my sweet Lamb. I never had any intentions of owning a rex cat, but now I can't imagine a life without her. She fell into my life at the perfect time.
I work as a vet tech and she was a surrender to my hospital. She had been battling chronic URI symptoms for almost 2 years before the owners were finally at their wits end and scheduled an appointment to discuss quality of life/euthanasia consult. Instead, we offered for them to surrender her to our hospital. I didn't mind fostering a gooey little lady, and I have the financial means to pursue diagnostics, ovh surgery, etc. (all of the things the previous owner could not afford). I immediately fell in love, and she never even made it home before she became a foster failure and official member of our family.
Fortunately, during her spay surgery we did a throat examination and discovered the cause of all of her symptoms; a polyp on her epiglottis. Once it was removed, her symptoms disappeared.
Unfortunately, the stress from the surgery triggered her IMHA and she began battling for her little life. One blood transfusion, many courses of immunosuppressants, and nearly two years later she is THRIVING. In the last two months, her hair has suddenly grown into her bald spots and taken on the classic rex wavy pattern.
Clingy, cuddly, sassy, playful, and SO HUNGRY. I've never had a kitty with this big of a personality. She is my entire world and the star of our household. I cannot imagine a life without my little Lambie.
She was also the cutest little alien kitten, so if you scroll to the end, I actually have a baby picture of her despite adopting her at almost 2 years old.

My cat has had pretty bad breath for quite a while. I already took her to the vet, and they said it isn’t severe enough at the moment to require any major treatment. She’s still eating normally. They mentioned that in the worst case she might eventually need some teeth removed, but for now they don’t think it’s necessary.
What I’ve noticed is that her breath gets much worse after she eats wet food. It can smell really bad afterwards.
Has anyone else had the same issue with their cat? Was it caused by their teeth, gums, or maybe just the food?
